Since this is the closest bar to my house physically, I’m pretty late on reviewing it! Hero’s opened wayyyyy back when and it was just a hole-in-the-wall sandwich shop. I used to hop my fence and grab a delicious tuna sandwich from them. Recently it morphed into a bar as well. I have to say, this is the coziest, intimate little bar ever! It IS very small, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. There are a few tables scattered around, but most of the seating is at the bar. They regularly do karaōke, which is always a laugh. It’s definitely a locals place, but everyone is super friendly. Drinks(BEER and WINE only folks, not sure what bruce down there is talking about) are cheap and the beer is damned near freezing. This is definitely the spot to come if you want to have a few drinks with a friend but don’t want a crazy loud environment. Plus, there’s a hookah bar next door that stays open late, so you can go get your smoke on afterwards.

The people here matter the most. I don’t care so much about the food or beer, you can get that anywhere and it isn’t bad anyhow. Yes, the drinks and food are limited, but the bartenders talk with you which makes it great in my book. Just remember to treat bartenders with respect.

We get great service here! The ladies behind the bar are very attentive. Beer, wine no hard alcohol. Food not so great, it’s either deep fried or thrown together in the back… doesn’t even look like a full kitchen. It’s walking distance from our house, so very convenient for a quick drink for a very responsible price.

It’s a locals bar… If your not a local you may not understand the close knit company of regulars that occupy the seats. The owner, Connie, keeps things interesting and fun… Bartenders, although limited are attentive and quick to keep the beer and wine flowing(no hard alcohol here) Jackie and Cassidy are awesome. Ladies keep up the good work and the never ending humor. Please disregard the comments from the others, they simply don’t get it. Enjoy your time in HB and at HEROS

If you don’t take yourself too seriously then you’ll like coming here. Connie is hillarious… Such a b**** in the best way possible. I love it! Cheap beer and a chill environment. Not really the place for you if you don’t drink beer.

Best little dive bar in the area. My husband and I like to ride our bikes here and the bar tenders are always super friendly. We really enjoy this little treasure.

DONOTGOTOHERO’S. Limited seating. The bartender can’t make many drinks. The beer selection is limited. The bartender makes up her own prices on drinks as she makes them. The food has no taste to it. The bartender, Connie, hates gays, is annoying, and swears at customers. Not a good environment.

The old Asian lady behind the bar is awesome. Likes to talk to her customers and that’s what I like. Someone that connects with their customers. She offered a local IPA that was GREAT. Also, the TV’s are also very high quality and the place is very clean. Great atmosphere.

First time I got there, I got a little intimidated by the bartender, but after a few minutes, we started to chat and I realized that she was a sweet girl. I looove that kinds of large frozen beer cups they have, not any bar around offer you that. The owner is a fun asian lady and honestly I return because I really like the staff. They make the environment. I never tried the food yet, but for a beer pub, they are doing a great job. I am already a regular :)

Awesome local dive bar! This is the place to go for cheap drinks, good people, and a chill atmosphere. A great place when you don’t want to deal with the chaos of downtown HB. Ask for the Sexy Spice. It is amazing!!! Tangy, flavorful, and refreshing!

She Walks Around, Make Drinks & Cuss At People. When She Gets Mad Keep Calling People Or Customers«Motha Fuckaa». Remember If Its Your Birthday, You Get Spanked. I’m in the mood to talk about places I’ve been drinking lately, can we tell? This place is so mysterious, I really, really want to like it, but I’m still so unsure about what is even happening here, that I’ll just have to describe it in the best way I can. Of course we had to go here after reading all the motley Unilocal!reviews… how could we not? Not only is Hero’s located in this super-weird little mini mall next to La Capilla, but it’s more like going to someone’s house or basement to get drinks with a bunch of strangers than actually going to a bar. This place is TINY and it’s the sort of bar where if you’re not regularly drinking there every night, everyone looks up and stares at you when you walk in. It’s funky, off-putting, kitschy and I wish I knew their secret or could be mysteriously initiated into the secret society that’s Hero’s, but I guess we just didn’t fit in. We actually went here a few months ago for a drink while out Christmas shopping and it was a Sunday night so it was pretty quiet and chill. Just a few other folks minding their own business over a few beers. There is only a small handful of tables and a narrow bar to sit at… that’s it. There is literally nothing else at this bar. I’m actually not sure if they serve hard liquor or not… they didn’t appear to. Because it was Christmas time, I ordered a «Poinsetta» which the bartender didn’t know how to make, but which we looked up online together and it turns out it’s like cranberry juice and champagne or something. Fair enough. That was fun. There are snacks and kind of short order grill stuff you can order like pretzels, fries, etc. but we didn’t try anything like that. However, from more recent reviews it looks like maybe we should have. The bartender was really fun, though. She was sassy and chatty and just kept talking to us(I think to try and make us feel more at home) and trying to get the other people in the bar involved, because they were literally just sitting with their noses in their beers. Aww… it was sweet of her. In any case, SUCH a weird bar and not normally a place I’d be back to, but I appreciate the quirkiness! What an experience.

I have been here a couple times when I have arrived early for my weekly massage at Chinese Massage a couple of doors down. Hero’s is located on the corner of Adams and Beach in HB. I thought this was solely a sandwich place, but it is primarily a beer and wine place. They do not serve hard liquor, and occasionally they serve food. There are a few handles on tap and several in bottles. The beers are reasonably priced: $ 7 for a 22 oz and $ 4.50 for a 16 oz. The bartender is friendly and nice. It seems as though there are a lot of regulars, including the bartender’s best pal on my most recent visit. I could just feel the love in the air: I looked over and saw the bday girl’s card from the bartender with the word«SLUT» written across in caps — LOL!!! There was another guy who was also celebrating his bday. But his idea of a good time was going to The Library Gentlemen’s Club in Westminster. However, he doesn’t have a car so he was wondering how he was going to get there — WTF!!! There are a few TVs and a dart board, but otherwise there are only seats at the bar. Hero’s is a decent local place, but it seems like a place to have a beer and not be seen. Otherwise, the only reason why I would come here is as I said before: To have a beer before my massage.

More of a dive bar than anything else. The nice owner is very talkative and funny and keeps you hydrated with their maybe 6 varieties on tap and array of bottled beers. The place has a nice relaxed feel to it(although I’m not a fan of the kinda weird art hahaha) and is a good place to stop in for a bite and a few drinks. Beer on(hef) tap was about $ 4.50 for a pint and a bottle of wyders pear cider ran me about 4 something as well. Food comes out quickly as well for a place that is run by basically one woman. :)

Stop #3 with some of my loco local Unilocalers. I had heard about the wacky Asian owner Connie. She had yet to show but her day shift btendress was very cool and put up with our rowdiness til wacky owner lady showed up. WOL immediately started in with en N, and actually intimidated him to silence. Well I’ll be, I love her already. I hazily remember seeing a little lap dog running around the bar and commented: I love dogs. WOL: «hey if you love dogs you should try our chicken wings.» Me not being racist and being a lil inebriated our resident Viet Unilocaler en N had to splain to me. Then someone played Journey on the jukebox so I left.

I’ve been wanting a little local bar to call my own for some time now. Since Hero’s is within stumbling distance, it only made sense to check it out. I informed my drinking buddy Stevenen to put it on The List, and was thankful when he reminded me during my most recent happy hour demand. Hero’s is the Ish. Not only is it soo close to my house(plus!), but the beers are ice cold and the sandwiches are good. Connie the barkeep(owner?) is funny as hell. She cusses and tells jokes, and makes good fries– what more could you want? There’s no hard liquor here, so no overabundance of DBags. I don’t know if there is actually a «happy hour» but this visit certainly made me happy. It’s not every day that an Asian woman says she’ll turn me into a whore. Thanks, Connie! I don’t know about the whoring, but I’ll be back!

If you’re going to eat, 3 wood is awesome! If you’re going to drink, the beer is always cold. If you’re going to BS, Connie(the owner) is like no other! I’d consider this a hole in the wall spot where you’ll find locals. You’ll become one of those«locals» on just your 2nd visit. Very inviting atmosphere. Several TVs, a jukebox, and plenty of good times await you at Hero’s.
