An’s Restaurant

I went into the restaurant and ordered a Phở 33 beer I think is the name because I had never heard of it. It’s actually a great beer and the owner (I’m pretty sure that’ s who it was) informed me after I attempted to order a $ 16.00 or so Lobster dish that the only thing left in the restuarant was a $ 35.00 dish that was Lobster.
So OK I’ve been lucky in life so I ordered it right up. It came in a little while which was fine and the Lobster in the large claw that I bit into was close to freezing cold even though the perimeter of the Lobster was warm. When I told them that this was the case the lady (who I think is the owner) insisted to my disbelief that it wasn’t cold. The basic flavor of the dish was mediocre at best. In the last 20 years I may have had 1 other problem in a restaurant but not to this degree. This one really takes the cake, twilight zone time. I submitted my credit card because now I couldn’t wait to get out of the place to forget I ever walked in. She took my credit card and brought it back with green cash to give me back my money, I immediately gave her the cash because I came in for good food and good service which is what I experience everywhere I go; especially since I am fairly well known in all the local restaurants. I haven’t eaten at home for probably 8 years or so. So I gave her back her cash and must try to warn others to stay out of this place whatever you do. The worst thing of all is that the Lobster looked great and you can’t get that type of beer anywhere that I’m aware of, but you’re taking a big risk if you venture into this place. They got me good once but never again! Beware!!! PS Wonder why they are gone; would never ever guess that would happen.

I have eaten at many Vietnamese restaurants. What I really like is that An’s is clean. I never worry about the kitchen being nasty since the tables are always clean. This is always a concern of mine at Vietnamese restaurants.
The food is consistently good. I have had better phở, but it was homemade. Although there is better Viet food out there, I still think An’s is worthy of eating at. I enjoy the meal everytime. The portions are generous. The prices are great. The service is quick and helpful.

Since my daughter started to learn the Vietnamese language, I’ve been to several Vietnamese restaurants. Most of them are clean with tasty food and efficient service.
An’s is all of those things plus they have a friendly and courteous staff. I normally have the Phở (large noodle soup with some choice of meat). It’s filling enough for lunch and primarily so for dinner. I’ve tried the Phở with shrimp, with steak, and with steak plus flank. And hot green tea.
The restaurant is in Peter’s Landing, a nice office and retail complex with a couple of restaurants and Starbucks nearby. It’s never been crowded so that is one of the things I like because I know that I will be quickly seated and on my way to eating. The fact that it’s not crowded concerns me because I worry that they will eventually have to close the doors. So I encourage everyone to try this place — you’ll really like it. You’ll keep nice people in business. And be providing me a good place to enjoy Vietnamese food.
The harbor is just 50 feet from the door and a gated residential community is immediately adjacent to this complex.

I wish them well, and had a decent Phở there, but I doubt it will be there in 6 months or a year. Go to Panda Palace instead, it’s next door.

I’m so disappointed. I had high hopes… not expectations.
I was here for dinner the other night and the service and the food was funky to me.
I ordered the Phở Tai Nam Gan Sach (Noodle soup with rare steak, well-​done flank, tendon and tripe) with fresh lemonade, My husband ordered the Com Dac Biet (Grilled pork, shrimp and egg rolls on rice) with coke and my daughter had the kids’ chicken and rice with lemonade.
The waiter brings our drinks and gives my daughter a soda. I let the waiter know that i ordered a lemonade for my daughter. He points to the menu that says «soft drink Included in kids meal». Yu get eitha cok or 7-​up. «Could you bring her a lemonade?» i ask. «we’ll pay for it.» my husband jumps in and says before the waiter backs away from the table.
He returns with a lemonade and my daughter’s meal. the chicken looked dry and old.
3 minutes later, the waiter brings out my soup. all the meat looks the same. Where’s my rare steak? it all looks like well done flank. The soup was tasty but a little too earthy for me.
3 minutes later he brings my husband’s meal. We both look at the orange rice. «What’s it flavored with?» he asks me. «I dunno, maybe it’s saffron» I reply.
The waiter comes back and my husband asks about the rice flavoring. «rice steamed with fud cala.» he retorts and walks away. We both look at each other, «do you think it’s orange or yellow color?»
I’m halfway done with my soup when my tummy starts to bubble. We quickly leave. As I’m driving up PCH and racing against the Devil, I reflect upon my crappy (no pun intended) meal and decide to never ever return… unless I’m constipated.

If you’re looking for a nice clean sit down vietnamese restaurant, not a hole in the wall, mom & pops place. this is a great option to go to. Food is good, nicely prepared and presented but of course isn’t as to-​die-​for-​good as some of the hole in the wall places in lil saigon. but you compromise a lil for good ambience. It’s located in the Huntington Harbour at Peter’s Landing.
We started out with the Thit Nuong Cuon, which is grilled pork spring rolls. The rice paper skin on the rolls were of excellent quality. Soft, pliable and perfect texture (did not break or was not too hard). the rolls were filled with shredded iceberg lettuce, vermicelli and a slice of thit nuong. the pork was well flavored, but i wish there had been a lil more meat and less of the lettuce filling.
I had the mango smoothie as my drink and my friend had the café sua da. The mango smoothie was just OK. i typically order sinh to mit when i’m out eating vn, but they didn’t have that. :(the mango smoothie was good, but it tasted more «artifical» than «fresh» flavored. Still good though. a lil vanilla-​y in taste.
My entrée was the Com Dac Biet which is their rice plate special. comes with grilled pork, grilled shrimp on skewer, and an egg roll over rice. this plate was actually VERY tasty. i’d give the plate a 4.5.
the meat was again very well flavored. the shrimp was fresh and nicely grilled, not overcooked. the rice was fluffy and. orange in color! dont know why. cuz it didn’t taste any different than regular white rice. but the fluffiness was great! the cha gio (egg roll) was tasty and crisp.
I’d go back here if i were in the area or if i needed a «nice» vietnamese restaruant to go to. It’s nice b/​c it’s so close to the shore.
