I’m visiting Juniata with my partner, who is an alumni and visiting lecturer this week. I’ve had a chance to interact with many of the faculty and students and also see the campus, which is small, in comparison to some of the local campuses that I’m used to. Juniata is a fantastic Liberal Arts college, the kind of place that is welcoming to all students and has more opportunities than one would think for a college in the middle-of-nowhere Pennsylvania.

I’ve been to two colleges in my time and Juniata was far the better of the two. Everyone on the staff was friendly, I can honestly say there was never anyone who wasn’t polite and helpful. My mother sent three kids through college and was spoiled by me being first and going to JC. She had so much trouble with the other schools when it came to financial issues and sorting out parental matters. As for the academics, I learned from some of the most enthusiastic professors. If I have one complaint it’s that the IT program didn’t explode until after I graduated so I missed out on some amazing learning experiences. The town is a bit small and not for the easily bored — I on the other hand and no city girl and was perfectly happy in town. The college has some great traditions and you always feel like you’re a part of the family — both while you’re there and when you leave! If you’re in the market for a school, JC is well worth a look!
