Dick’s Sporting Goods

Our favorite sporting goods store in the area. They routinely have sales and clearance items, not s bad deal. Their shoe selection is limited to common sizes but the can tell you where the shoes are on the area and have them shipped here for your convenience.

Started out as a Super Bowl gag gift. We had a condo association Super Bowl event and one of our regulars is a died in the wool Packer’s fan. Thought it funny since he is from Chicago and I would have guessed Bears fan.
In any case, he was about the Patriot, under inflated footballs etc.
Came the time of the Super Bowl, we presented him with an under inflated football. Thanks to Dick’s in helping us with the gag.
On the otherside, these folks have always gone out of their way to help their customers. This store and most Dick’s that I have been in go out of their way to serve the customers and are very customer centric

I’ve been to plenty of Dick’s Sporting Goods locations, most of which are located in malls. Most of the time you can say «you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all» when referring to corporate retail stores, but this location in Birkdale is a bit different.
We ambled on in on a Saturday afternoon to see what they had on clearance. The store was pretty quiet which made browsing a bit easier. I will say that not having the spaciousness of the mall really sets them back a bit, in terms of selection of goods. They have a smaller selection of goods then most other locations have. I checked out «The Lodge» and their firearms and archery selection is pitiful. Dicks is always a bit overpriced, and this location is no different.
Based on the prices and limited selection, I wouldn’t return. If I really needed something from Dicks I would head on down to the location at the Northlake Mall instead.

So I’m on the hunt for an elliptical machine & after my poor experiences at the Mooresville location, I thought I’d try my luck at the Birkdale location.
I’m glad I did!
Richard (in the fitness department) greeted me immediately. He took me straight to the machines & had me look at two different ones; LIvestrong LS8.0E & the Sole e25. He thouroughly explained both machines pros & cons, explained the delivery /​set up process /​fee.
I was so impressed with his knowledge & excellent customer service.

So I entered this Dick’s Sporting Goods with a teeny bit of enthusiastic anticipation. I used to shop at the store in Rochester, NY when I was a teenager and loved getting umbros and other athletic clothing from it. Living in San Francisco for most of my adult life, I wasn’t able to shop at Dick’s for a while (there are a bunch of stores in Southern Cali but none in Northern), so when I drove past the store in Huntersville, I had to turn around and go inside.
As soon as you walk in, the woman’s section is almost right at the entrance (LOVE that!). They still sell umbro shorts. There’s also a wide selection of sports bras, tees, work out pants, hats, swimwear and gear, etc. I forgot that Dick’s sells camping equipment and was impressed to see the whole camp section, which is extensive. In the back of the store there are a ton of sneakers to choose from by brand name.
The store is pretty big and is a bit overwhelming but if you feel lost and unsure of where to find things, it’s not busy or chaotic so you can take your time to navigate. There are also a good number of associates on the floor, so that’s nice.
