Yeah… not so much anymore. The service is slow & the food is not as fresh. I order the same thing all the time so I don’t know what the deal is. Today, about 10 people came in after me & got their orders first because they couldn’t seem to get mine right. Looks like it’s back to Hummelstown.

The order which was quoted up to one hour for delivery took close to two hours. The shredded pork with garlice sauce was 10% pork, 90% onions and peppers with no flavor. They also forgot the white rice that comes with the entrée. Never again.

2.5 stars It taste like all they do is fry up frozen veggies. Everything was super oily-dont need chapstick lips are super oily lol. Taste like grocery store deli Chinese. The food was pretty bland and the spicy items werent spicy. :(wonton soup tasted bad like a packet mixed with water :(I wouldn’t go back… I’d just go without Chinese food around here. 1 star for delivery 1 star because they are cheap .5 food quality

Lunch of orange chicken platter and shrimp fried rice was fresh and good. Maybe six tables and a typical take out menu at a good price was what we were looking for. Not much on atmosphere but hit the spot otherwise. Would go there again for a quick lunch.

For what it is, a takeout Chinese restaurant in Central PA, Char Koon is the best. They have a decent Sesame Chicken, General Tsao’s Chicken, and Egg Drop Soup. Their dumplings are pretty crude, but the filling is yummy and on a cold winter day, they are delicious! They also have a very good BBQ Pork Fried Rice and their Singapore Mei Fun is spot on(and keeps well in the fridge!). However, the best thing about Char Koon’s is that they deliver to almost every part of Hershey/Hummelstown. I order from here on a regular basis(at least once a month), especially when it’s cold out and I have nothing in the fridge to cook :)

I ordered delivery from here a couple times now and I just ordered my last lunch today. I got hard over cooked everything. Sesame chicken, egg roll, and fried shrimp were all hard. The fried rice was bland as well. I have yet to find a decent Chinese restaurant in the Hershey area.

Unlike a lot of restaurants, Char Koon has remained consistent with their food quality and prices. I am still frequenting Char Koon after several years. They have raised their prices slightly, but food quality has not suffered at all. They do tend to take a little longer than their suggested time, but just account for an extra 5 – 10 minutes and you won’t have to wait.

I saw the reviews for this place on Unilocal and tried it. I was surprised at how utterly nasty the food is. The restaurant is not clean, the food is not good. I ordered mapo tofu, which came out as a tasteless, brown, gelatinous mass complete with peas still frozen in the mix. It was awful. I took it back to the counter and left it there. My husband and son were similarly disappointed, though they were hungry enough to eat their food even though they didn’t enjoy it. Grody stuff. The take-out kitchen, Hong Kong Chef, at the back of Giant on Cocoa is far better.

Decent food and decent price. The pan fried dumplings weren’t so good, but we enjoyed everything else. Not the best food, but they are good for a small town.

Char Koon… in another time and another place I would turn my nose up at the very thought of eating here. While I am an enthusiastic frequenter of «holes in the wall», cheapy Chinese food never really floated my boat. The great part of this place is the price. You get a LOT of food for what you pay. The quality of the food isn’t too bad really, definitely one of the better Chinese places around here. Which… I guess says more about the location than anything else… The variety of food they serve is pretty extensive. Their curry wontons are pretty satisfying, and the Char Koon Special chicken is also something my friends and I have craved on several occasions. Usually meals are served with either fried rice or noodles, which are filling and while somewhat bland goes well with whatever you have ordered. You also get a free pork egg roll with your meal. I consider myself a competent eater, yet even I sometimes have to divide this meal into two.(As I mentioned before, amazing quantity for the price) The staff/owners are very friendly, and while the décor on the inside is nothing special and the space is limited, it’s not a bad place to sit down for a quick bite. Delivery is also an option, for those nights you just want some food to come to you for once! If you are looking for an authentic Chinese food experience, Central PA ain’t the place. But, since we’re here, this is like a Panda Express type(do they have those here???) but better, because it’s cooked to order and their flavors are better than anything else you’d find in the area.

A personal favorite for Chinese take-out. The dining room is well-lit though I have never eaten at the restaurant. The food is always hot and very delicious, and reasonably priced. The location is very convenient(in a shopping area) so that I can grab food and get some other shopping done. The portions are very filling, and are usually more than what I can eat in one sitting. I’ve been getting take-out from here for a while now, and I have never had an issue!

Um, it’s cheap all right but I can’t say much more for it. I’ve only eaten there once, but I thought the food was awful. It’s a takeout type of place so I didn’t have particularly high expectations, but it didn’t even measure up to average Asian takeout. I will qualify this by saying that I ate there in 2006 or so, perhaps it has improved since then.

Food is served hot, fast and at a very resonable price. Hits the spot every time I’m in the mood for Chinese. I can get lunch and a soda for under $ 6 and leave completely FULL!
