Due to regular work assignments and visits to family, I often find myself on the road between Houston and Dallas. Therefore, I was happy to discover the Vonlane Bus. Currently providing transportation between Dallas and Houston or Dallas and Austin, this bus line puts a new spin on first class travelling. Each bus only has 16 spacious and comfortable reclining seats, allowing for plenty of leg room. There is an on board attendant that checks on the passengers every 15 – 20 minutes, ensuring that you have everything you need. While on board you are handed a list of things that Vonlane will happily provide to make your trip more comfortable or productive(pillow, blanket, pens, pencils, highlighters, memory stick, lap desk, wireless mouse, noise cancelling headphones, or even a phone charger — just to name a few). There is wireless internet access available as well as power outlets at every seat so that you can work, read or play through the entire trip. All food and drinks on the trip are complimentary and provided as often as you request them. I’m not talking about a small pack of pretzels with 2 oz of liquid in 4 oz of ice either. Full sized snacks, sandwiches, salads, soft drinks, tea/coffee and spirits(beer, wine, rum, vodka, bourbon, and gin) are readily available throughout the trip. As the gentleman in seat near mine interpreted… basically a 3 and a half hour open bar. I would highly recommend this service to anyone who is tired of dealing with the hassle of airports or is planning an impromptu trip to Dallas but doesn’t want to shell out $ 300-$ 500 for a plane ticket. I believe that the $ 100/one way price is well worth the trip. Additionally, you can check their website for occasional promotions that could save you $ 20-$ 40 per trip.
