This is a tiny, 100-seat theater nestled in the town of Hudson, but the production quality is that of a much larger space. I recently caught«Imagining Madoff» here, and I was impressed by not only the writing and the acting, but also by the genuine community that supports these productions. I went in with low expectations, and I was pleasantly surprised. But I couldn’t help but notice… perhaps it’s because we caught the opening night show and only theater patrons were present, but the crowd here at Stageworks is… not young. At 107 years of age, my father was the youngest man in the crowd. My mother was one of several people that fell asleep during the performance, but I suppose that’s what happens when you don’t have an intermission, and everyone in the audience has been on the same sleep schedule since before electricity. They should’ve taken advantage of the coffee available pre-show for a $ 1 donation.* The theater WAS kept at around 55 degrees, probably to try and keep people awake/prevent them from decomposing. Thanks folks, I’ll be here all week. _________ *If you’re required to pay the $ 1 for the product, isn’t that called a «purchase»?
