I’ve been coming to Hudson Art and Framing for more than twenty years. They are amazing, I really can’t speak highly enough about the craftswomanship and talent that goes into each piece. They have supported the arts and local artists since the beginning, bringing culture to a sleepy little shoe factory town that otherwise would have put another car wash and TGI Fridays in place of the old cast iron gun. It’s worth it to spend some time talking with the folks who work here, because they are a part of Hudson and having them around gives me hope for our future

WOW!!! What a gem! 24 years living in and out of Hudson, and never had been in here! We were on our way to dinner at the Fireplace room and a lawn sculpture caught our eye. We zipped around the corner and walked in… WOW! Frames of all types? They have them. Unique decorations and nicnacks… you betcha. Unique local art /local artist renditions — sculptures, paintings, books — they have it. Its a beautifully corky establishment, delightfully eclectic, tasteful and whimsical gifts or crave worthy items, a whole lot of smiles, free tootsie rolls and unique conversation pieces. If you are a unique shopper… this is a unique shop just for you.

The bottom line is that these guys will get the job done. Whether it’s custom framing or cutting a matte, HAF will make sure you get a quality product in the end. But, the process of getting there is another matter. First of all, the staff here needs some training on efficiency. I dropped off a frame, a matte, and my artwork a couple of weeks ago. All I needed was the matte to be cut and the discrete pieces to be assembled. Rather than give me an estimate and sending my on my merry way, the framer decided to keep me there as she measured the frame, phoned her boss, checked on the cutting tools, ironed out the artwork, and did a host of other chores. I don’t need to be involved in this. I ended up wasting 90 minutes at the shop while she tinkered around(noisily). In the end, I was happy with the frame job, but I kept asking myself: with 90 minutes down the drain, couldn’t I just have taken a tutorial and done it myself?
