My husband & I went in today for lunch. Hadn’t been there in a long time. As always very clean & pleasant staff. They had s Mothers Day menu which was slot of lobster, shrimp & fish. Very few customers though. I got the fried clam roll which was ok. Not a lot of clams which were in a sub roll which was not appealing. My husband got the veal Parmesan which he didn’t care for. Aside was watery & not much flavor. The veal was tough & almost like it had been microwaved. There was soooo much spaghetti. He felt nauseous for hours after. Doubt we will be going back.

Great pizza and even better subs. Best Italian Sun I’ve ever had. Very good salads with big portions. Not exactly the cheapest option for pizza but definitely worth the price. Holdmadikkkkk!

The first warning of a bad experience in a menu too huge to read in one sitting. This means a great deal of frozen ingredients. We ordered a pizza for the kids, I got the steak tips and my wife got a chicken parm sub. We also ordered some boneless buffalo wings(my daughter’s favorite.) We were first informed that the wings take a while and wouldn’t be ready for an appetizer — um… okay. When we got them they were bone-in wings(which I love but my family does not.), so I informed the waitress of the mistake and was greeted with a dumbfounded stare. She gave a hesitant«Okay» and stared a minute more before taking them back. We must have upset her because we rarely saw her again throughout the meal. The pizza wasn’t bad, but wasn’t very flavorful. The tips were overcooked, but the marinade was pretty good. The chicken in the chicken parm sub was clearly frozen chicken, as were the boneless wings that finally came, and both were swimming in sauce. I would have given this place a two were it not for its horrible service.

Checkerboards is a nice place to have a casual dinner in a relaxing setting. The wait staff is very nice and friendly and there is plenty of easy parking. I had the Chicken Caesar salad. It was delicious but I could only finish half of it. My wife ordered the baked scallops. They are one of the main reasons we keep coming back and they did not disappoint us. Checkerboard should be in your short list of restaurants to try if you want for food at a good price. There is something here for everyone so we well be back.

Penne alla vodka is one of my favorite dishes I’ve ever had. Huge serving and is consistently delicious. Very tender chicken! I recommend this dish to everyone!

Luv this place. The eggplant is amazing. The owner accommodates my vegan diet by whipping up a special meal for me. Servers are friendly and helpful. I like the wine list. Everyone I bring here can’t wait to come back.

Love the pizza, love the toasted ravioli’s, the eggplant parm great local restaurant. Always nice to eat somewhere that isn’t a chain. Fortunately Hudson has several and this is one of my top 2. I never had anything I didn’t like. Usually get takeout.

I am normally a huge fan of calamari, but there’s was so awful! I went with my friend and we wanted nothing to do with it after one bite! They should defiantly add less salt to the mixture because i thought of it was salt and breadcrumb fried, not good! Have not gone back since and defiantly do not plan too!

I have been coming here since I was a little kid. I have only really gotten the sandwiches here, but they do those very well! The Italian is an actual Italian sandwich! Not this crap«X house of pizza» places try to pull of as Italian… I’m talking about real capicola, mortadella, genoa salami, and provolone cheese. The staff is always friendly, and pleasant, and the tables are clean. If you’re in the mood for a good Italian sub, this is the best place in town.

Went here with my 3 year old and it was okay. Friendly, quick service, clean, good environment for my son. However, food was overpriced for the quality. Fish and chips was okay but Cole slaw had an odd taste to it. The lemonade was definitely some kind of cheap mix.

So far… so good. My husband talked me into going here and I’m glad he did. Best calzone I’ve ever eaten. The dough is homemade and amazing. We shared a meatball and pepperoni calzone. And it satisfied both our appetites. The sauce was delicious as well. We did order a pizza and tenders for take out a few weeks later and weren’t imoressed with their buffalo chicken tenders, too little sauce and not enough zest but the calzone will keep me coming back for more.

I have lived in Hudson my entire life and between the food and service Checker Boards is one of the best. I have and will continue to recommend to all my friends.

I’ve been coming here for years. There is a large seating area but the ambiance is just okay — usually we do take out for a night at home. The food is amazing, I haven’t tried anything that wasn’t great. The pasta tastes fresh and their sauce is delicious. The meatballs and sausage plate are good — the eggplant and veal parm is on par — and the salads are very generous. Definitely a great little casual Italian place in the area. And then you can go next door at Smyles for soft serve :)

The good: Plenty of parking, convenient location, clean and inviting when you enter, and the staff is very friendly. The bad: Worst pizza I ever ate in my life, bar none, and I’ve eaten my share of bad pizza. I’m a billy goat when it comes to food, I’ll eat anything, but I tossed this puppy in the trash before I could get through a 2nd slice. Tasteless, soggy, and just plain bad pretty much sums it all up.

Good doughy thin pizza with yummy texture. I love the meatball or ham or chicken BBQ. A really comfortable dining area. A casual side and a elegant side both fun and inviting. I love the booths for family dining. Great sports on TVs and good beer choices. I can’t wait to come back for more pizza. A lot of the menu is around $ 5, $ 7, or $ 12. But great steaks and plates from $ 16, $ 17, and $ 20. Try it!

Pros– Very friendly staff, the cook himself came out and asked about the food. So nice I didn’t tell him I didn’t like it. Meh– Prices were just short fo too much Cons. The Stuffed peppers looked great, but for some reason seriously lacked flavor.
