Bill’s Gun Shop & Range – Hudson

Excellent staff and we always have a blast when we go to the range! Best place around!

Long story.
I bought a gun about a month ago and had to be shipped to MN for pick up. They said call back in 2days to check. I called and was told it wasn’t there and the guy (joe) didn’t bother to attempt to find out what the issue was. I went there to pick it up the next day and they said I needed to bring my permit to purchase even though I already got it paid and copied at the WI location. So I had to go back home and get that along with my green card. Got back there and they did background check and STILL couldn’t get it. I had to wait another 2 days to get it. Even after I picked it up, they asked for my permit to purchase for a 3^rd TIME! HORRIBLE COMMUNICATION on their part!
Fast forward a month later, my gun starts malfunctioning. BRAND NEW GUN with less than 159 shots! I take it there and dropped it off. They called me and said «you have to hold your gun tight, and the trigger will reset». THAT’S THE STUPIDEST ADVISE EVER! I held it tight cock the gun and it still didn’t reset the gun. So the sell guy tells me he just tells me what he was told! They take my gun for a good 45mins, couldn’t fix the damn thing and treks me they’ll call me when it’s fixed. Keep in mind every one of these trips to bills is not a short drive by any means, 5 trips total! (3 at Robbinsdale, 2 at Hudson).
So I go back and pick it up the next day and it’s fixed. They said they had to bend something to make it functional.
Today I went to cabela’s, and this gun shop 2 blocks from me. They had the same gun for $ 30 cheaper.
Moral of the story:
1) their location is far
2) it is overpriced
3) customer service guys sounds like they’re friendly but in truth, very dishonest and just want you to get the heck out of their faces
4) they should’ve just given me brands new replacement
I’m only going to go there again because I have one free gun range coin out of this then never again.

During a recent visit with family in Wisconsin, we stopped at Bill’s Gun Shop & Range.
Roy (an Afgan vet) was exceptionally helpful. He patiently showed us the store’s vast inventory, imparting his very detailed knowledge of every item we were handed. He did so knowing that since I was visiting from out-​of-​state, I would not be able to make a purchase that day. However my son-​in-​law, a Wisconsin native from a family of experienced gun owners was also very impressed with the store, the range and most especially Roy.
The price for the use of the range was reasonable — and to our disbelief, for that price we could have stayed there the entire day!
The store has a number of pistol «brands» that you can rent ($ 15 for the whole day) to try out at the range before you decide on a purchase — and they will credit you the rental cost (s) if you purchase a new pistol at any time (just save your receipts)!
My only regret is I don’t have an opportunity to visit Wisconson, and Bill’s Gun Shop, more often.

Wow! Some of you guys have given these guys a good blasting! (Pun most certainly intended). I have been to Bill’s location in Hudson WI twice in the past month and I have been really impressed!
I imagined a gun range to be dirty and grubby, poorly lit and falling apart at the seems. Like an old golfing driving range. This place is immaculate.
There is a large seating area with high tables and chairs if you want to sit and talk shop with your buddies. There are loads of great guns in stock, both new and used. Loads of great accessories from gun parts to cleaning kits to gun and ammo storage to clothing. There are also very clean bathrooms and a vending machine or two. Isn’t that awesome?! Everything you could expect from a decent «club house». This is all before we get to the shooting range itself which is… AWESOME! Again very clean, new finishings, a decent length /​distance and so far I’ve never had to wait for a spot. Plus $ 20 per non-​member, $ 7 for members per visit (NOT per hour, per VISIT). What can you complain about!!?
The folks working there have been very polite and helpful. I haven’t tried to test their knowledge of firearms but they seem to know their ammunition and their accessories. I’m sure their knowledge of firearms can’t be that different.
Most of all this place feels SAFE. The other customers have been really friendly, there are couples, buddies, there was even a small family there this evening.
The ONLY downside is the cost of the ammo they stock but really, who cares?! Bring your own! They allow you to. There’s even a Walmart next door which sells pretty cheap ammo. EASY.
Come on you guys — be fair. Give these guys another chance, the quality, cleanliness and security of the facilities is deserving of another try alone. I’ll be back again and again. GET SOME! :-)

some employees know nothing and treat you like crap! but thats ok, fleet farm is cheaper!

I have been here several times and will likely go again, but ONLY because it is the only gun range in the winter time that is within a reasonable driving distance from my home.
The staff here are rude and condescending and often poorly informed as to the rules of the range.
The ammo is overpriced and their «Ladies Night» deals are not really a «deal» at all.
