There are antique shops. And there are curiosity shops. Then there’s B. Barton & Co. I can’t even begin to say how amazing this place is. It’s part someone’s amazing living room, part re-​purposed and re-​imagined wares from furniture to fixtures, and part a cool place to hang out and get to know people. I’ve been in a number of times and have met the owner, Barry. Unlike many antique purveyors, he has an amazing personality and doesn’t have a surly, uncaring bone in his body. He can tell you the story of everything in the shop and clearly has a keen eye for what is cool, fun, interesting, and delightful. Take a car, take a boat, take a balloon — go here and have fun.

Can I get 12 stars? 13? SERIOUSLY! A newcomer to the Downtown Hudson revival, this antique shop delivers on SERIOUS Personality/​Customer Service, and awesome finds, priced for the townies. And out of townies. Place is small, but very well laid out, and Barry, the owner is ridiculously joyful, upbeat and with an eye for panache! He has a unique midas touch to put vintage finds into unique and elegant gifts that will WOW anyone! Take for example, vintage picnic baskets with modern linens, vintage wine openers, cheese cutters, silver silverware, wine glasses (AND HE GIVES YOU A BOTTLE OF WINE as his THANK you for the purchase). He is chock full of «vintage bar» items and can convert any vintage and repurposed item into a home bar for any size home or apartment. It is such a classy find on your stroll after ice cream or just a stroll. Even if you come in to browse. You will be back! It is a GEM!
