LE Furniture Repair & Refinishing

I went with LE Furniture to fix my bed because they seemed helpful over the phone. I was mistaken. My appointment slot was between 12:30 and 1:30. I called at 1:30 and at 2 to find out if there were any updates as to when Barry might show up, and nobody was able to help me. At 2:30, Barry called me with excuses about why he actually couldn’t show up until next week. Barry and his employees were rude on the phone when I called to find out what was going on.

I had 2 pieces refinished, they are over 30yrs old. Mr. Barry did a great job they look brand new as a bonus he is a really nice man highly recommend

Barry does a good job, is reliable and honest. He repaired four tables and a chair and they are now in great condition. I do not think he is cheap, but then again this is a highly skilled craft and I would not want someone that does not know what they are doing refinishing gloss wood. My big gripe is that the work creates LOTS of dust, and he did not cover the other furniture around him as he worked. It’s taking me ages to clean up. He would have got five stars otherwise!

Flashback — 6 months ago when I was sitting in my kitchen staring at the cabinets thinking how ready I was to get RID of those things… they were solid wood, good quality but dare I say looked hideous because of age, fading color and overall wear and tear. For months I had been dreaming of painting my kitchen and having fresh new cabinets that wouldn’t clash because of color, but there was that one thing holding me back… my pesky budget :-(If I was going to go new I wanted to get something that was at least equal to the quality of the current cabinets (i.e. SOLID wood) and thought that was reasonable, right? WRONG! I got quote after quote and the numbers just seemed to go up and up. It was time for another game plan.
I asked around and was educated by multiple people on this whole process of «refinishing» the old to look like new. What a concept! Who would’ve thought?! I started researching online, found LE Furniture Repair and just a few weeks later I have now what anyone would think were brand new cabinets for… drumroll please… a fraction of the price!!! Thanks again Barry for using your expertise and hard work to make our old look like new!

I was given a 5 piece antique bedroom set by my parents that was in good need of refinishing. LE furniture was recommended to me by a friend who lives in Manhattan; so I gave Barry a call. You just can’t find furniture of this quality anymore and Barry made it look like new, changing the color slightly to make it fit in more with our taste. Everything was done in our home, which was left as clean as it was found. Thanks for the excellent work! We will surely be using Barry again!

Barry is great – not only as a person, but as a professional. He recently restored our antique kitchen cabinets and I couldn’t be happier. They were literally crumbling apart and he made them new again.
It looks like we purchased an entirely new cabinet set (but for half the price!) I would trust him with anything. As an antique collector, I will definitely be using his services again in the near future.

Great work as always. Over the past few years, I’ve had Barry repair kitchen cabinets, refinish the wood on my futon frame and stain our wooden doors. He’s affordable and most importantly, provided us with great craftsmanship.

Awful awful work !!!
I needed my kitchen table refinished, and I ended up with a kitchen table that looked and felt like a picnic table. My kitchen table was butchered. We tried to tell Barry we were not happy with his work and he promised to call back, and of course he never did. What a waste of money !!!
Avoid at all costs. I had to get it redone by someone else who is a true professional.

the worst service i ever got.
he came fast. remove the old finish. applied the stain which did not match the desired color.
he then applied some varnish that is still wet, more than a week later.
the surface of the table is rough and there are dark spots all over.
negative rating is what should be used here.
AVOID!!!

I can’t give zero stars? Avoid this place at all costs. Barry did a terrible terrible job at restoring my furniture. I had to go back and try and fix it myself. I’m trying to not be too mean since he does know where I live now. But seriously, you could have done a better job at the price you charged me. Very unhappy with the workmanship.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
I called LE Furniture two days before a dinner party. I needed two dining chairs repaired — both chairs had a leg missing, which I still had. The next day, I paid $ 50 for each chair to be repaired ($ 100 total for both chairs). I noticed that the legs were crooked after the gentleman fixed them, but they looked sturdy enough so I decided not to complain. The following day, one of my guests sat on one of the chairs and almost fell! It was broken again! I called LE Furniture a couple days later, at which time we scheduled a day & time two weeks out for the gentleman to return & re-​fix the broken chair. No one showed up on the day of the appointment. I called thirty minutes after the scheduled time, only to be told that there’s nothing else he can do to fix the chair. He then hung up the phone on me! He didn’t even offer to give me a refund. I didn’t bother calling back.
There are a few things in this situation that were not handled correctly:
1) The chair was not fixed correctly.
2) Why make an appointment to come back & fix the chair, when clearly, he had no intention to do so? I had to leave work early and skipped other plans to be at my place for this appointment.
3) There was something else that could have been done to fix the chair– someone else was able to do so.
4) The least LE Furniture could’ve done in this situation was to offer to give me a refund.
I don’t recommend this place for any service due to the lack of workmanship and professionalism.
