This is worst community to live in. Don’t ever think of renting in this community. Roaches everywhere, maintenance is pathetic, management is not good at all, elevators not working most if the time, water lodging issue even with couple of hours rain and there are no clearly defined policies. The only reason to stay here if you are an India since this is moreover a India community. The water bill is soaring very high, earlier it used to be fixed like $ 60 per month. Now, they are charging anything, averaging out on sq feet area, number of members in apartment and average community bill, sometimes going upto $ 110. They are looting. You will be given 1 month free or some other perks in the beginning when you rent here. Once you are in, you are trapped. I recently checked that if I break my 1 year lease after 6 months, what would be the cost to me. Even if I serve 2 months notice, I need to shell off $ 4500 from my pocket, ridiculous. Don’t EVER/EVER/EVER think of staying in this community. Giving 1 star since I cannot put less than that.

HORRIBLEPLACEEVER! HELLNO! I stayed there one year and got too many problems. Whole apartment infested with a lot of cockroaches and they couldn’t get rid of them whole year even though I kept my apt very clean. There is elevator but it wasn’t working almost whole year. They used to fix it but broken in couple days again. Also I couldn’t take any of my deposit back and I also ended up to pay extra $ 400 even I left the apt pretty clean. They will be so nice until you sign the contract and that’s it. Also it’s very loud complex because of the bar right next to the apartment. Almost every night there was very loud music till 2am and it is impossible to sleep. Also one of my friend robbed around the apt complex last year and some similar issues inside the complex. It’s close to the Galleria Mall though and that’s the only good thing that I can say about this complex. Other then for one bedroom even it’s not worth more than $ 400 a month.

I definitely do not recommend Yorktown for anyone. True it has a great location but that’s about it. You’re going to get nickeled and dime from the day you walked through the door until after the day you leave. Once I finally moved out I had just a few spots on the carpet and some dirty tiles and I got a bill for cleaning the apartment complexes supposed to do anyway. The company that runs this complex does not believe in cost of business. They pass everything onto their tenants. They just want to sit back and collect the profit. While living there I have seen as much as a $ 71 increase in my rent and the reason they give me is «market value. To me that means were not willing to screw you over more than anyone else. The place is a great location but it’s honestly not worth the price. I know that now and I warn you. I would actually recommend three fountains apartments. True they’re not as «luxurious«but at least you’re not going to get nickeled and dimed. You will just pay your rent and that’s it. Oh, one more thing, don’t even think about asking them to compensate you when their complex floods and your car has water damage. These people don’t take responsibility for anything! They have a poor drainage system which is clearly their responsibility but they just don’t care. It’s all about the bottom line with these people.

Sigh. Yorktown… I really wanted to like you. I really wanted to give you a really good review, but in good conscience I can’t. I thought all of these people were exaggerating… coming from NYC it’s expected to have roaches and superintendent issues but you guys have such potential yet keep falling short. I would have opted to give you a 2.5 but since I don’t have that option then I will give you a two. Here are my biggest complaints: As everyone has stated, there are a lot of roaches. I am constantly finding baby roaches running around on my kitchen floor when I turn on the lights for water. Not to mention their big brothers and sisters just chilling on the countertops. I rinse every item that I have in my cupboards before using because of this. When we had the floods in May(around Memorial day I believe) the elevator to my building was damaged. We are now in September and that elevator has not been fixed. Every week is a different reason. Meanwhile they expect me to collect my large packages for my apartment from the office in a timely manner. I live on the third floor, so every time I purchase groceries/cases of water, I have to figure out whether I can carry all of my bags or make trips. Right now, I have my cases of water in the car since I couldn’t take it with me on my first trip up. I really feel it for the elderly people who live here, who constantly have to hobble up two and three flights of stairs to get to their apartments. Back to the floods — the garage was underwater, the grounds, most of the parking area and the ground floor(I had to wade through water that went rose to my thighs to get to the stairs). Now, as a result, these apartment areas look rundown and horrible(please note that this is 4 months later) — it almost feels as though I am living in a project. When I first moved in, I thought I was going crazy because for whatever reason my ac wouldn’t go cooler than 80 degrees. I moved here in August(the hottest month) and complained to management. Why not check these things before a new tenant moves in? Since then, I have had to ask them to check the A/C unit about 4 times. When it rains, I get these splotches on my ceilings. I have complained about it, but nothing was done. My bedroom light is moody. When I pull the fan switch the light gets mad and turns off and refuses to turn back on. I have had them fix this about 3 times. Yesterday(Saturday), I arrived home from running a bunch of errands and went to the office to collect my package. As usual they were so happy to see me, they just sat in their chairs and gloomily stared at me. They obviously couldn’t contain their excitement. Anyways, after retrieving my package, I climbed the three flights of stairs(still no elevator) to my apartment and proceeded to my bathroom sink to wash my hands. There was no water! I did not recall seeing any posts, or notifications about this, no one told me anything in the management office when I retrieved my package. So I called them, and was advised that yes there is a pipe problem so they had to turn off all of the water. Really?! So y’all didn’t think that this was important to notify the residents that they wouldn’t have water? At 5:45 p.m. I still had no water after they promised that it would be on before they left(they leave at 5:00 p.m.) so I called the office and got the ever so helpful after hours operator, who basically told me that they are fixing the issue. No ETA, nothing. As others have listed, the staff are moody. I try not to take it personally as I am sure it may be hard hearing complaints day in, day out from residents but then again, if there was proper management, there may not be that many complaints. The hours of operation changes all the time. On Sundays, even though they are in the office, they don’t answer the phones. The gym is small and annoyingly hot. Sometimes the A/C breaks down and you are treated with a sauna like fitness room, great for burning calories and getting a heat stroke in 100 degree weather. It definitely is an experience. I appreciate what the maintenance crew does though. They really try their best and I cannot say anything bad about them. I sincerely think that there needs to be a better system in place to make this place run smoother. I don’t hate it, but I do get very frustrated by the laxness.

Ok, the apartments are older, and you get what you get from an older complex. However, If you have to stay in an older apartment albeit that you must stay there for the location, in need of temporary housing or recovering from life’s unexpected turn of events. I recommend Yorktown Apartments because of it’s residents and the apartment manager, Melissa. ‘s The managements swift professional services makes you feel welcome to discuss any issues that may come up. The maintenance is quick, and the residence are friendly with a community feel. The tennis courts, pool, workout room, and park makes it a good place to congregate and hang out. The stars go to Melissa and the maintenance crew.
