So glad I found this barber! Gilberto is super friendly, and cares about how his customers’ hair turns out. There is nowhere else in Houston you can get a cut this good for $ 18. I will definitely be back!

The guys name is Lorenzo, super nice gentlemen. He had been cutting hair since the 50’s. I definitely had a great expertise. I do recommend him.

A true hidden gem! This place amazing and iwill definitely be coming back for another hair cut. Gilbert (the barber) is super friendly and a God doing his job. It did take some time but trust me this is not a complaint, i will much rather have my barber take 40 mins cutting my hair and do a stand up job than taking 15 and me having to wear a hat for a week or two. Overall great place, i dont know any other place in houston that so much as compares to this place!

Wow, if only I had a barber like Gilbert in my neighborhood. Absolutely loved the atmosphere Gilbert give a great haircut and the fact that it only cost $ 16 to get a great haircut and a razor neck and sideburn trimwith hot foam and a hot towel. Beats the heck out of going to any major chain for a very similar price. If you live in this area do yourself a favor and go see Gilbert for your next haircut.

I’ve been in Houston for nine months and could not find a decent barber until I found Gilbert! I’ve tried Capones and other popular spots nearby but was not ever satisfied. Came across this place and wish I found it earlier. Gilbert is awesome! He knew exactly what I wanted and did a fine job. AND! He actually takes the time to do quality work, unlike other places that are more concerned about quantity of customers. Trust me, you want a cut by Gilbert.

I am in an industry where I am judged on my initial appearance. With that said I’m very particular with who touches my hair. Being new to Houston, I have tried two different barber shops near this location, both gave sub par hair cuts. Gilbert runs an old school barber shop, straight razor and all. $ 16 will get you a solid cut and good conversation. Don’t plan on walking in here and getting service immediately. His hair cuts seemed to last 30 minutes. He is a one man show, give him a call and set an appointment. You won’t be disappointed.

Woodlake Barber Shop is really all about Gilbert the owner and barber. The utmost person you will meet. He has been cutting my hair for nearly 30 years since he was in his barber shop over on Wilcrest and when he had his shop in Stafford. He never forgets how to cut your hair. He was my sons barber when Chris was a little boy. He is busy so make an appointment if not be prepared to wait a while but he always gets you in. I have his phone number in my speed dial.
He is a US veteran serving I believe in the air force. He is a patriot and a true American. He had lots of outside hobbies and one of them is playing the guitar. Maybe he will play for you… if your lucky. I also think he has cut the hair of some famous Houstonians.
If you want a long term relationship with a barber, go to Gilbert.

Gilbert is an excellent Barber. Please know the hair style that you want before coming in. Gilbert will advise you if your hairstyle goals are achievable and provide you with good recommendations. Air cuts are by appointments only. Once you get an appointment, Gilbert will take his time cutting your hair.

Gilbert and his store are a rare find nowadays. The man is a gem and his skills match his personality.

Gilbert, the shop owner is great. The ambiance is nice. Real homey feel. I would recommend it to all my man friends.

Definitely a hidden gem and I mean really hidden. It may be hard to find because the location is not at one of those typical strip malls. It’s in one of those business buildings. He has recently moved to another suite which is definitely easier to find. I’ve been to many barbers in California and Houston and I must say Gilbert has to be my favorite. He’s been in the business since 1969 so he’s definitely experienced. I will definitely be back!!!

My husband went to Gilbert and the cut was amazing… Good enough for me to come review. I’ve never much noticed his haircuts before, but when he came home from seeing Gilbert, I was thoroughly impressed! I’d recommend him to all my guy friends.

Best haircut in awhile. Gilbert is a master of his craft. Affordable and such a better experience than what you would get at a chain. Old school hair cutting by a guy who just flat-​out knows how to cut hair. I’m going back for sure!

Gilbert at Woodlake is the best barber in Houston. I drive from downtown to get haircuts with him. He is that good. The price is very reasonable and the quality of the haircut is unmatched. I give Woodlake Barber Shop my highest recommendation.
