We’ve eaten here a few times since they opened last year. The service was always friendly but lately some of the staff seem like they don’t want to work there. This morning we watched several employees walk past silverware and a packet of mayo that had fallen on the floor both behind and in front of the counter. Aside from being a safety hazard it was obvious no one wanted to make the extra effort other than their own job to pick them up. This was during the time two employees swept and cleared tables in that same area. Their management needs to better train and improve morale as it was when they first opened the restaurant. The food: I think most people that eat at WH know what to expect for the price. I’m not saying the food is bad but sometimes we like to go just for the lively atmosphere, people watch and a decent meal. Take all that into account, you’re not getting gourmet food at their fast food prices but it’s good. If you’re picky, go elsewhere — If you like the«down home» vibe, this is the place! We will be back unless the service deteriorates further.

I can’t understand how the configuration of their kitchen passed inspection. The dishwashers are under the counter where diners are served. Every time they were opened, diners sitting at the counter over the dishwashers got a face full of steam. A sink was maybe 2 feet from the counter where food servers rinsed off dirty dishes using a sprayer. Water mixed with food particles got on the counter. Clean dishes were stacked up a couple of feet away, and I’m guessing they were contaminated as well. The food servers rinsing the dirty dishes never washed their hands. A couple of food servers sneezed and used their hands to wipe their noses(I could see the snot) and went right back to work without washing their hands. A cook kept touching their face while wearing gloves and didn’t change them. I noticed that whenever the food servers were carrying dishes with bacon, they were putting their thumbs on the bacon to keep it from sliding off the plate. Dried/burnt waffle batter was all over the outside of the waffle irons, prep area and floor. A cook cracked eggs into the same bowl every time to make scrambled eggs. The bowl was coated with dried egg residue on the outside. I could see uncovered food in the cooler. The staff was obviously poorly trained. They spent more time twirling around in circles in that oddly configured kitchen space than anything else. Most of them looked like lost puppies. The manager was berating a server when I walked in. Talk about a snarly attitude toward the staff. After that he disappeared into the back. I’m guessing he wasn’t trained well either.

I’ve eaten at plenty of Waffle Houses between Houston and Louisiana and I always recommend them over the larger chains when family and friends need that breakfast fix. This location is definitely not what has made me come to love Waffle House. This was actually my second time eating at this location. The first time was late at night so I forgave them for their poor service. What I remember most from eating at Waffle House as a child was the warm welcome that everyone gave when you walked in. These employees were not only unwelcoming, they never followed up after we received our food. As far as food goes, the hash brown and omelette were pretty tasty. The eggs were actually very light and fluffy and almost perfectly cooked. My waffle on the other hand was too dense. What really put me over the edge was the small piece of egg shell that I found in the last bite of my omelette. If you know anything about egg shells, you know that no matter how small, it seems like a never ending mission trying to eat through that. I ended up having to rinse my mouth with orange juice to make it all go down. At least you know they use shelled eggs.

I am a big fan of Waffle House and was glad to see this new location going up. Today was the first time I was able to stop in at lunch time. Food was good and service was what you would expect.

I like the Waffle House and more are needed in Houston. However, if this one is going to survive the staff will need to shape up and get their stations together. On this Sunday morning there was 16 people in this store and the service is slow. Too many people working at one time for the service to be lacking. Two people order and one is served and the other is watching. Not many different options on the menu to be this slow. Please get it together Waffle House I am rooting for you.

My first time coming to a waffle house. Since it is new, it was really busy and it’s a tiny location. Taste-wise, it’s average
