Visible Changes

Went in last night for a corrective coloring since some other horrible salon had bleached my hair orange, then tried to correct it with high/​lowlights and then the next day stripped all the high/​lowlights out and left me with a huge mess two days before my engagement pictures were to be had!!! But Visible Changes came to the rescue. Maria did a great job of low lighting my hair in order to soften the color. They discussed every and all options with me and made me feel so at ease. They hand picked the exact products my hair needed to get healthy again. I love them and will now start going here permanently! Thank you!!!

I paid 190 for my services. 80 for cut and 110 for color. I wish I had just gotten the cut and bought a box dye instead. At least then I’d have only payed 10 bucks for a bad color. Don’t waste your money on the color service. The color was patchy leaving some parts the color and the other parts my natural hair color. They decided they wouldn’t fix the color without even seeing my hair. Don’t waste your time with management either because they won’t listen and clearly left all fs to give at home. I will try corporate but I expect the same treatment. However the haircut service was superb. Ask for novi.

I can’t say that the stylists at Visible Changes give me everything I want, but I understand that there is this thing called corporate policy. So no, they won’t trim or color my eyebrows, but I know someone who will.
I was really afraid to try any VC after my first experience with them some 10+ years ago, but one day about 2 years ago I was pretty desperate for a color and cut and couldn’t get an appointment with my regular stylist. I was able to get an appointment that day and found a great colorist, Edna, and a great stylist, Cynthia.
I can’t honestly say that I still come here every time I want something done. I still love my main colorist. But when I want something a bit different? And done well? I know I can come here.

BAD SERVICE!
Ana rushes through her customers giving no consideration to attention to detail whatsoever!
We all know that hair salons in malls are just cutting assembly lines but you would think they could at least make the sides of your hair even.
And on top of a bad cut, Ana acted like she could care less about any interaction with me.
Poor customer service.

I have been going here for years and will only let Myrna do any kind of color to my hair. She is the absolute best and knows exactly what she is doing! She is very experienced and really listens to what you want! I get so many compliments on my hair and always refer to Myrna, she’s the best!

RUDE RUDE RUDE!!!
The last few times that I have been in and called to make an appointment the people at the front desk especially have been so rude! They are horrible at scheduling and rude.
It is sad because I always get great cuts and highlights there. However, when the people I talk to on the phone and see as soon as I walk in are rude it is a huge turn off.

I’ve been going here for years to get my hair done. My stylist Ashely, is the best! I trust her with my hair which is hard for me to do, since I have thick long hair and not many people can handle it. She does a great job and she gets a 5 star. The reason why I’m giving this place a star is because the people at the front are (9 out 10 times) RUDE. They don’t even bother to put a smile on their face when you walk in. Also, everyone that walks by you (that works there) just gives you a look, unless they are you’re stylist then they’ll put a smile on their face and have conversations with you.

Melodie is a life saver!!! I came in after getting the worst haircut of my life (from a different salon) and she was able to give me a pretty cute style! I’ll have to grow my hair out to get the look I had in mind when I went in for the original cut at the «salon that will not be named» but I feel like Melodie and I were on the same page. I cannot thank her enough!!!

I only go to Xavier for my hair and he is AWESOME! You can literally trust him with what you want and he will give that to you. He is so talented and cuts your hair in a way that you will not find anyone else to do!
He is THE BEST!

I went to Memorial City Visible Changes for the first time in about 9 years.
I had a great experience from the checking in, to the wash (included a little scalp massage), to Juno cutting and styling my hair, he did such a great job!
Loved it!

My mom made an appointment through the phone for 4 PM the day before, when she asked for the name of the stylist who would be working on her, she was not told, instead the person on the phone reassured her that it doesn’t matter which stylists has her, but she could come at 4 PM the next day for her appointment.
I called up that same day, but didn’t really need anything complicated/​intense done so I asked for the most basic stylist, and I was told that the basic stylist appointments can’t be made through the phone and are assigned to walk ins only.
When we went in person, apparently there was no appointment made under my mother’s name or phone number and they told me that there were no available stylists until 7 PM. I’m not sure how that’s possible if the minimally trained stylists can’t be booked over the phone. They were not sorry at all, nor did they offer to book an appointment for another day or time. The people at the front desks were not helpful or accommodating in the least.

UPDATE: I increased my rating, because I did get in touch with the GM at this location, and with some work, he was able to make my «hair situation» right. He pulled out the big guns with a top tier colorist and stylist to come in and fix the mistakes that the previous two had made on my hair. They understood the problem and spent their time (pro-​bono … although I wound up tipping) to correct it. All in all it was a bad experience that was made right. Can’t leave a 1-​star review for that … appreciate them coming through with better customer service after a little to-​do.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: I’m bummed to have to leave such a bad review for this place. I’ve gotten my hair cut here for two years … With good results. But do NOT go for color! I asked for balayage color on my dark brown hair. I was specific, multiple times, that I did NOT want super light blonde or platinum anywhere in my hair … What did I wind up with? The lightest blonde/​nearly platinum highlights circa 2004. Ok, I’m pissed that I didn’t get what I asked for but I’m a reasonable person so I’ll just go back and give them a chance to make it right. They can do a toner … Which I assume will be the common answer to this … And I’ll have to go back every 6 weeks and pay $ 50-​$ 75 to apply a new toner. SO … Because they screwed up, not only am I out the $ 160 I paid originally but now I have an ongoing expense. No deal! Give me my money back and I’ll go somewhere else. I’d even be ok with that solution. NOPE! Because no one in the store can «authorize a refund» … The general manager has to actually see my hair (as if he knew what it looked like before … What I asked for … Or anything about the situation). Ok, put him on the phone and let me talk to him to we can rectify this today and be done. The answer … No, that’ll just make him mad. Wow! Super customer service. If the GMs temper is that bad, I mean, bad hire? Had to just take my platinum highlighted self and leave before I blew a gasket. NEVER AGAIN! Bad color and even worse service. Not to mention I was treated like a liar … «Well IF you said that» and «IF you REALLY showed her that pic of what you wanted» … Please, I have better things to do with my time than try to lie to win one over on your salon. Give me a break.

Out of all the years I had been going here, I had never had such bad service. I had created a appointment with a hair colorist a little after Halloween, due to my red hair turned the color of big-​red gum. I walked in and was sat down the colorist simply says «oh no. No one has time for you» and even got a manager to say that «no one is going to touch your hair».
It kinda sucks because I was will to spend hundreds of dollars to even just get black over it, or even just have it toned down, but was instead turned away and disrespected. I was in tears by the end of all the things said to me, and went to look for anything to have it fixed. I ended up at toni & guy, got demi color, no hair fallout and the stylist styled my hair– while teaching me how to style my own. I only spent 100 $, yet was willing to spend 300+. Kinda sad another hair salon could not only do it in less than a few hours, be respectful, and tell me honestly what needs to be done for my hair– but the coloring has lasted over 5 months (even in the chlorine I swim in daily).
Never making a appointment with visible changes again– how embarrassing it was to be told the things I was, and have the colorist go and have others come look and laugh at my hair.

Valerie located in the Memorial City Mall location is the best! She knows exactly what I want and is so understanding about my indecisiveness when getting my hair cut! She works so hard and does such a great job every time! I always get compliments on my hair and it’s all thanks to her! Strongly recommend her!

If you are looking for awesome talent, Valerie is genuinely beyond talented hands down. My husband and I were hesitant about our 15 month son’s haircut because of how he would behave; it was time for a haircut and decided that since I love the way she cuts and styles my husband’s hair, she would do a great job with our son. I trusted her with our son’s very first haircut; that is something huge! Even with our son a bit scared at times, Valerie was very careful and very gentle; it was the first time he actually sat still! That was the challenge and she was able to succeed this challenge with us– In the end, she was able to capture exactly what I was looking for and made our son look very handsome for his first hair cut!
I highly recommend anyone looking for a great experience at this location, as well as getting your money’s worth for a haircut, to ask for Valerie. You will not be disappointed and you may very well get a friend out of it, as I now consider her to be a real good friend to us! She is our super hair expert and not to mention, she is beautiful inside and out!

Since being married, my wife never liked the places that I would get my hair cut. The reasons would vary, but basically, not to my wife’s standards of how I should look. We would try barber shops/​salons of her choosing, even going as far as letting my wife tell the barber/​stylist how to cut my hair. The end result, sadly, would always be the same… she didn’t like it. The worst part of it was that I had to live with this disappointment on my head until my hair grew out.
One day, at Memorial City Mall, we walked by the Visible Changes and my wife said «how about this place?». I was very reluctant, mainly because I couldn’t take another hair cut that my wife didn’t like on me. However, I trusted my wife and went ahead and made an appointment. Not having been to this location, I had no preference and asked for whomever was available. The lady at the counter said that I would be getting Valerie. I thought that this should go well, I mean, my mom’s name is Valerie so what could go wrong.
My wife did the usual talking with Valerie and explained how my hair cut should go. Valerie was very friendly to talk to and a very happy person overall. I had never met her before in my life, but she made the entire experience comfortable, like we’ve known each other for years. As Valerie made each cut, my wife never once looked concerned. In the end, my wife loved it!!! I was shocked, but relieved. Valerie was able to capture the look that my wife had longed for the past couple of years on my head!

You know when you find an old picture of yourself and you think… I loved my hair back then?! If only my hair could look like that again!
It seems after breaking up with my long-​term hairdresser (after something like 8 years), I have been searching for a new place/​person for the last 6 months. Lately, I have been going to Kharisma in the Galleria area and I saw Naz, she was good but too hard to get an appointment with my busy schedule and her part time work schedule. Honestly, I wanted to like Kharisma so I kept telling myself they were great and I liked my color… Reality — my hair made me look old. The color and cut just weren’t cutting it. Ugh, finding a new place takes work.
I found myself in a pinch for a big event next week, I knew I was going to have to make another move. Low and behold, I was at the nail salon and I saw a woman w GREAT hair. I asked her about it and she told me to see Kelly @ Visible Changes at Memorial City Mall. I even took a picture of this random woman at the nail salon so I could make sure Kelly knew what I wanted. When I called for an appt, Kelly was on vacation but the receptionist recommended someone on the same level (5 out of 7) and a color director. I ended up w Bell for color and Bridey (yep, that is how it is spelled) for a cut. I showed them my old picture and they both exceeded my expectations! Absolutely, hands down, the BEST color and haircut that I can remember.
I would love to give them 5 stars but I had to wait an hour and a half between color and cut w no explanation for the delay except to be told Bridey was running 15 mins late and there was no one else to cut my hair — he offered me to sit under the dryer and come back another day. What? The message was given to me when it was already an hour past my appointment and it took 30 more minutes, not 15! Bridey made up for it w an explanation when I finally sat down in her chair. I forgave her and she was worth the wait.
Visible Changes is like Southwest Airlines, or a cattle car. If you can stand being herded through, I highly recommend both Bell and Bridey.

Stay away from this place! You don’t always get what you pay for. I went in thinking I would pay around 35 for my haircut and ended up paying $ 58 for a shampoo I told her I didn’t want, but she said it was needed. I told her I didn’t want it styled because I was just gonna home and shower (she left hair all over my face). She said well you need to know how it’s gonna look so I said ok whatever. She didn’t only style it, she curled it, so that was an extra $ 12 dollars! I asked her to cut more of the bangs and she said no because they would be too short. I had showed her a picture of what I wanted which was side bangs and to cut about 2 inches off my hair with lots of layers. She ended up cutting around 6 inches because she said it was all split ends wtf! I am never coming back to this place!

Fellow Unilocal peeps … I am proud to announce I have found a hair stylist whom I adore. A round of applause please for Mr. Frankie. He was patient with my evolving haircut (I was unsure what I wanted), he gave me great advice on styling and product. His personality is a combination charming, funny and endearing. Mr. Frankie take a bow … my hair looks amazing and our conversation was so much fun!

While I have never gotten a CUT here, I have been consistently happy with their styling. It always feel nice to get pampered every once in a while and treat yourself to a nice blow out or up-​do in preparation for a night out or special occasion.
I have been a walk-​in and had an appointment and never had an issue with a wait. Generally, they pack the stylist’s schedules, so don’t expect to be seen early if you arrive before your designated time.
All the stylists to whom I’ve been assigned have done a lovely job with working from references or spoken requests. They are friendly and will talk if you feel like it or shut up if you don’t.
I will be back for a wedding in November and will likely schedule another appointment so that I look simply smashing!
