Very delicious. The service is phenomenal. The ambience is perfect. I live in San Antonio so I hope I can come back. Oh, and DEFINITELY get the spicy edamame!

Grace was my date and I’s server and she was great! All her recommendations were amazing from the cocktails to the sushi rolls to the entrees! Very knowledgeable in the menu as well. Atmosphere here is great. Quality of everything including service was amazing. Will definitely be back when on this side of town.

One of the best sushi joints in the city. I typically sit at the bar where the service is fantastic and the sake flows. However; you may think I’m crazy but the chicken wings there are some of the best I’ve ever had in my life… Yes this sushi joint puts out some dope chicken wings full stop.

It isn’t often that I feel the need to write a review on a certain restaurant… however it’s not often that I find a place that is so commandeering to its customers. Uptown Sushi not only deserves a 5 star rating, Houston must know about the staff included the always helpful valet personnel. They are attentive, very knowledgeable of the menu. They cater to your every need with great on and off menu selections. The wings are off the charts! The service is top notch and I would put it up against any of the other top establishments in Houston or for that matter the entire USA. thanks to Tom for making me feel as part of the family. Always welcomed and well taken care of. Whether it’s with friends or business dinners, they have not failed me. Keep up the great job Uptown Sushi!

Uptown Sushi is definitely one of my go-to places for a casual lunch or a dinner date. The ambience during the day is very nice. A mid-tempo beat gives it vibrant vibe that makes you feel comfortable — especially if you’re a first timer. The food is amazing! Some of the best quality fish I’ve since moving down to Houston. I’m a sashimi person and the fish here does not disappoint. The specialty rolls the chef’s have made are drool-worthy as well. The service was awesome as well. The several times I’ve been here, the servers have always been on top of getting my orders out asap. They pay attention to if your water level is low or if you need a refill on green tea so that’s definitely a plus. Overall, Uptown Sushi is one of my favorite sushi places in Houston. Definitely worth the try if you’re in for well priced and great quality sushi.

Came here on a Wednesday for dinner and had a pretty pleasant experience. This is one of the more upscale sushi bars I’ve been to and it didn’t disappoint. Great interior, service, food and drinks. We ordered cocktails and long island for drinks; seared escolar, don #2 and uptown dragon for our entrée. I’m a big sushi enthusiast and I must say, their sushis are one of the best sushis I’ve tasted. I wish there were more unagi on the menu though. Would love to come back to try the rest of their menu!

Okay… So I give this place 3 stars because I love the interior design and the music they play. The atmosphere is dope! The sushi is mediocre… Not as fresh as I would like. Service wasn’t the best. Our server was kind of rude and forgot my miso soup until the very end. I ordered the salmon squares, similar to seared salmon. Tastiest dish I had! The rolls were okay. The sashimi wasn’t fresh, had a fishy taste. The Kobe cubes tasted like ground beef… Wasn’t very good at all. The kimchi gyoza was tasty! I can live without going here again.

5 star because it’s the most amazing sushi in Houston. The Japanese Crudo, L & J special and Kobe cubes are the best appetizers! My favorite roll is the Tata roll. Oh & they have the most amazing spicy ponzu sauce(it’s made fresh in the kitchen). The ambience is also really nice.

Uptown Sushi was great. I was not expecting too much because I haven’t heard of it from any of my close friends in Houston and usually if it’s good, I’ll hear something. Food — Fresh fish and good quality for the price. It is a little pricey but the fish was delicious so I say WORTHIT. I had a few pieces of nigiri — fresh salmon, sea bass and fresh water eel. We also had the kobe beef cubes. If you’re going to get anything, get these and they are easy to share! Service — Our waitress was nice but the service by no means was amazing. Ambiance — Low lighting, loud(not RA sushi loud) but it was a little difficult to hear. The layout is really cool and the décor is very modern. I would say it’s a classy/trendy establishment. I wouldn’t be wearing flipflops and jean short into this place. We will be going back for the food for sure.

Great place and great sushi. My first time here was a few days ago for dinner. I love the ambiance in this place. Very chic and romantic. Hostess was friendly upon arrival and sat us promptly. Our waitress was attentive and knowledgeable of the menu. I ordered the gyoza for an app and the spiro roll and smoked salmon sashimi. I have to say that the gyoza(dumplings) were especially salty. But they were still good.

Great place, I have been a regular there for many years. their signature rolls are fresh and always consistent on the amount of rice they put in them, other places load up the rolls with rice(won’t bash up names). The service is great always making sure the table is clean but also making sure that you and your guests have your own space.

I came here Sunday with a couple of friends and felt very un-welcomed. As we entered the restaurant was empty, however the hosted acted as though there was no where for us to be seated. We finally got seated at booth right next to the restroom. As soon as we sat down Iris(our waitress) approached our table and seemed a little bothered. After waiting 30min our drink orders finally came out. An hour later our rolls came out(don 2, spiro, and 7 ½). We loved the rolls so much we wanted to reorder everything… When we asked our server if we could reorder everything she asked if we wanted to leave because it was going to take a while for us to our second order. We felt as though we were un-welcomed. We explained that we didn’t mind waiting but she insisted that it would take a LONG time for our food to come. We didn’t mind waiting so we ordered another round and prepared to wait. Our rolls came out 45minutes later, then our drinks after the meal. All in all, we felt as though we weren’t welcomed in the restaurant. It felt like they didn’t want us to be here, despite us loving the rolls we won’t be back.

Was just ok. Prices are fair. It seems like a place for families in the Uptown area. A lot of kids, people wearing hats etc… If you are looking to impress someone I wouldn’t go here. Walls are cracking, I’ve been in better looking bathrooms at Washington Ave. bars. Service was not great. Sushi was average. They do have a lot of spicy/unique rolls. The pepper tuna was good and the Kobe beef rock was tender & delicious. Beer prices are fair too. Water guys were good about keeping the H20 flowing.

I don’t quite know what’s going on with me, but I’ve been on a bit of a sushi frenzy lately. 4 Sushi nights in a week has to be a record for me. This was night number 3 and after reading the Unilocal reviews of Kona Grill down the street, I figured it might be worthwhile to try something better while i am in Houston. Zero regrets on that decision. — CREATIVEMENU. I can really appreciate when folks get creative with the menu. There are multiple dishes here that are very interesting and things that i’ve literally never seen before. One of those was the Avocado Miso Soup. Picture the moment you tried gazpacho for the first time… now that you are in that mindset, you will probably experience something equally unique with this soup. I wouldn’t call it the highlight of the menu, I personally didn’t like it a ton, but it was very interesting. — FRESHFRESHFRESH. When evaluating a sushi joint, that’s probably the number one thing that counts. Sashimi from escolar and sea bass was very fresh and delicious. — KOBEBEEFSLIDERS. So, I will go on a leap here and say that this is not real kobe beef. It’s some kind of hybrid. I’ve had real kobe beef and this is far from it(both flavor and price wise). The flavor is not there. Nonetheless, with the quail egg and rice at the bottom, this was a tasty dish. For $ 14, i don’t expect a revolutionary dish, but I hate misleading naming. — TWOBARS. Ah, here is the disclaimer, one of them just happens to be a sushi bar. But both are actually nice. The ambiance is modern, slick, asian inspired. Loved it.

It’s rare I am ever even in Texas. But every year is about a new adventure. People who do the same old lack that imagination of what could be more awesome. The traffic was horrendous so we decided to stop by this spot. It’s a fancy place. Probably the most decorated like a western romantic sushi spot I have seen. The place does not disappoint… Cucumber martinis — Not sweet. Wish it tasted a little more cucumber like but they need to mash up the cucumber a little more but perhaps they use vodka infused cucumber instead Kobe cubes — really good… Would not recommend anything more Spicy edamame– it’s spicy… We got a few rolls… Dragon which was good. We also got some tuna thing with yellow tail on top… Good. Each comes with eight pieces. I like the dining area more than probably the food… Service was on spot. I would come again… Most food in Houston and Texas is pretty heavy… I like lighter stuff and this aligns with it.

Parking can be difficult because the private lot is shared by many businesses in the strip. They have $ 3 valet though. I arrived to Uptown sushi for lunch with reservations. Frankly, I don’t think you need a reservation though. There were some empty tables and booths. The ladies restroom needs a touch up, or should I say the restaurant does? The restaurant décor looks nice with first few glances. However, I immediately noticed dirty seat booths, especially the one I had to sit in. It had stains! Old furniture. There were toilet paper on the floor and broken latches in the restroom. I felt gross. We each ordered a Seaweed Salad(3⁄5). Marinated kelp, chili — sesame oil, and lemon juice. It was more vinegary and lemony than the way I like it. My friend agreed. The amount they give you is not worth the $ 6. Tuna Sashimi(4⁄5): This was the freshest and best thing I’ve tried at Uptown Sushi. 4 pieces. Spiro(3⁄5): Spicy tuna topped with salmon, avocado, and pepper paste. The pepper paste made the roll stand out. If you’re not sure what pepper paste tastes like, think of Gochujang hot sauce. It is not Sriracha. Otherwise, wasn’t the freshest I’ve had. Tata(3⁄5): Spicy yellowtail, tuna, salmon, topped with seared white fish and miso citrus sauce. Miso citrus sauce was sweet. It kind of had a mango twist. Again, this was not the freshest I’ve had. Service was somewhat existent. Our waiter disappeared for what seemed like a decade when our drinks reached bottom. I would not come back. There are better sushi places in Houston I would rather go too. Food was not memorable. They need to make the restaurant more presentable than it is in order to survive.

First of all — best waitress ever. Classy, fun, expert awareness of the menu(and you can take some advice when you read it). Not invading your table and always there at the same time. Ask for a table served by NAVA when you reserve. She is the fifth star of my ranking! Secondly — the food. Exceptional creativity, ultra fresh products, great play with just enough spices, but again we discussed what to order so no bad surprises. Third — the décor is just magical. Beige giant mushroom lights, cosy tables, central sushi chef kitchen with endless bar seats, and great energy from lounge style music.

I have to say that Uptown Sushi is my favorite sushi spot in Houston. I’ve been here a few times. And I have enjoyed my meal, service, and professionalism of the staff every time. I’ve tried several things on the menu and I have not been disappointed. From the«tata rolls to the cheesecake tempura. They’ve really took the time to perfect each dish by making each flavor complement each other. The atmosphere is cute too. It’s a great spot for date night as well as just meeting up with friends. Even though it’s in busy Uptown Park, they’ve managed to make you feel tucked away and intimate with your party. I just really like this place.

The Interior of the restaurant is elegant and really nice. I would say the interior gives off a classy and romantic feel during dinner time. During lunch, the lights aren’t as dim, so you can see the layout of the restaurant. First visit, my friends and I came to Uptown sushi for dinner. I noticed how nice the restaurant looked. The staff and service was a 4⁄5. The food was good and the portions are just right. I had a few rolls from their sushi menu and seaweed salad(4⁄5). It was a pleasant experience and the mochi ice cream left me craving for more! From what I remember, they get their mochi shipments from Hawaii. Second visit, I decided to try Uptown sushi for hrw lunch. The restaurant didn’t seem too busy; which was surprising to me. The hostess seated my boyfriend and I in a timely manner. Our server came by and took our drink orders and brought us our drinks. The only thing that bothered me was, our server took a while to take our order. We ordered the kimchi gyoza(3⁄5), Panko egg(4⁄5) for our starters. For our main, we ordered the Akaushi skirt steak(4⁄5) and sushi assortment plate(4⁄5). Dessert, MOCHI and the flourless chocolate cake with ice cream.(5⁄5) Kimchi gyoza(3⁄5) — Average dumplings with meat and kimchi. I couldn’t really taste the kimchi; which was a disappointment. The soy sauce they serve with sushi and gyoza is pretty good. Some may say, soy sauce is soy sauce but there’s a difference. Panko egg(4⁄5) — Well made. The outer side is crusted in Panko. When you cut the egg, the yolk oozes out. The egg is served with trout roe and green onions. Akaushi skirt steak(4⁄5) — First bite is AMAZINGLY good! I’m glad the server asked how I wanted the steak. Steak cooked medium is perfect! I really enjoyed the sauce used on the steak. The mushrooms are cooked to perfection. I enjoyed the first few bites of the wasabi mash, but after the few bites I didn’t enjoy it too much. Portion might look small but this is the right portion. Sushi assortment(4⁄5) — Crunchy roll with raw fish assortment was good! The rice was falling apart but the fish grade made up for rice falling out. Service(3⁄5) — Our server was nice and did her best to check up on us time to time. When I ordered my mochi, I asked for Green tea, Lychee, and Espresso. I did not get my green tea mochi and got strawberry instead. I wanted to tell my server but she didn’t come by, so I didn’t make a big deal about it. However, when she gave me my bill, she almost over charged us and I had to tell her about it. Then she corrected our bill. Two mistakes in a row did not make me too happy. Overall, the exeperience was good. I knocked a star from my first review, so I gave this place a 3⁄5. I enjoyed my lunch and I would return for more of their mochi and chocolate cake!
