Thank you, Michelle, for further proving my point. Perhaps if you focused more on satisfying your customers and less on trying to come up with witty comebacks, you’d be better off.

I purchased 2 separate groupons for this place. One for a massage and another for haircut & highlights. When I called to make an appointment, no one ever answered the phone. Additionally, the owner Michelle was extremely difficult to communicate with and got easily frustrated when I could not understand her and asked her to clarify. Upon arrival at my hair/​highlights appointment, I was notified that the stylist called in sick but no one called to notify me, even though I had contacted them an hour before to confirm the appointment. They had to reschedule me for another day.
As for the massage groupon — I made an appointment at the beauty salon and was told it was confirmed. However, when I showed up for my appointment, Michelle told me that the massage therapist was not available and that I should speak to him directly to schedule a massage. The massage therapist told me that he let Michelle know he was sick that week and wasn’t making any appointments.
Ultimately, I made 4 trips to this place — the hairstylist was good, the massage was average and the customer service was horrible. I will never go back to this establishment. The fact that the owner is replying to these Unilocal reviews in a defensive manner is just an example of how rude she is to her customers. NO THANKS
P. S. The Owner did reply to this review just to harass me for my opinion. Apparently, being a business owner is hard for her and I should try to run a business myself. Hmmm… sounds more like excuses than anything else. These people are lazy and downright rude!!!

I found Up Close Beauty Max — and the fabulous Michelle — last year with a Groupon and have been coming back ever since. She does a wonderful job CONSISTENTLY. She works great with short hair, long hair, and listens to what you want. This isn’t a one-​hit-​wonder, but a find-​your-​haircare-​professional-​forever sort of place.

This is my second time coming here. I am an African American women that has been natural for four years. There is a Caucasian lady named Minnie that worked here and she does a great job. I was very pleased both times. She is very professional yet personable. I would recommend her to any one black or white.

I love this place for everything! Started w microdermabrasion and chemical peels and got such amazing results that I started getting my hair colored and cut here as well. Michelle does an awesome job at it all! I always look forward to my appointments here. Fun, relaxing and the results are truly amazing! I’ve recommended to many friends who have loved their experiences just as much! Can’t wait to go back :)

I have been all over Houston looking for a great stylist, I tend to get bored with my hair very quickly and I’m very picky. I have had so many bad salon visits, I gave up. I came here because my mom and best friend recommended it and I found my girl. PRISCILLA!!! She has brought my hair back to life! She can keep up with my changing my mind on styles and colors. And is very good at keeping up with trends. I have had a short brown bob, am currently sporting the long blonde ombré and now we are headed toward red, and she has made me happy every visit. She is fantastic. Michelle does my mom and best friends and they are both very happy and loyal to her as well. They offer so many services, it’s a one stop shop and you’ll leave happy and pretty.

I’ve been to Priscilla twice now for highlights and cut. I like that she puts a keratin treatment in my hair when she highlights it. Healthy hair is very important to me.

I’ve only experienced one service from this establishment, the massage. which was horrid. I even specifically told the massage therapist (Sabrina) to lighten up on the pressure. She acknowledged my request; however, did not listen. I felt like I was constantly being pinched and beaten. Strokes were short, quick, and rough, not long and soothing at all. She definitely did not perform a swedish massage that I had asked for. In the end, she even acknowledged that she was rough and stated to me that «it was the lightest pressure (that she) could do.» Are you serious!!! Although I had an awful experience, I still tipped her $ 10 so that she wouldn’t think I showed dissatisfaction just to get out of tipping. She even caused minor petechiae (bruising) on my inner arms. I never heard of this place until I bought a Groupon. It also comes with a facial, but I’ll let them keep my money. I’m NEVER coming back. If you like deep tissue, then Sabrina is your masseuse.

I went here because I bought a groupon for massage. Most painful massage I have EVER had in my life. The lady was brutal, Not only did it feel like she was going to rip my skin off but I have bruises on both sides of my lower back. I WILL NEVER go back here again.

These people know what they’re doing! Ask for Priscilla she’s great and really knows what she’s talking about, she’s very experienced in cutting hair. This place is a little bit expensive if you’re normally used to paying $ 10 to $ 20 on a haircut but its definitely worth it! They have a wide range of services that they offer rather than just hair. Check it out I highly recommend it!

I came using the Deal of the Day from the Houston Press. Never really heard of Up Close Beauty til I bought a deal!
Came in and Sebrina took me for the massage portion. I never realized how many knots I had in my back! She loosed me up and was really nice.
Marlet did my microderm and facial she was very interesting she mixed up my mask to help with my skin in particular. Sea week mask was kinda weird but i liked it!
Then Michelle did my hair. I’ve curled my hair with a straightener before BUT it has never came out like this before! I had a head fully of sexy curly hair! I was so excited.
