Daughter bought me a wetsuit and it was the wrong size. He told me that he would order some other sizes to try but when I got there he said he had already sold all of them. He gave me a store credit for just the store and I planned on using it. Yet every time I went to go use my credit the store was closed. Never answered the phone and eventually his phone was no longer in service. The store is now closed and he will not answer any emails or messages sent through his online store. I feel violated and as if my daughter was robbed by a criminal. — written by my father

RUNAWAY. DONTLOOKBACK. I have been doing busy with Tri on the Run for many years now. And after ownership changed I have seen it slowly go from a well organized high quality Tri Store to a single employee mess. I had hoped that the quality would have still been retained. I took my 3 bikes over to Tri on the Run to get hem serviced and have one of them painted. I ride my bikes for Autism and I was preparing for the new season. Since my bikes have been there I have been stopping by Tri on the run to pick them and all I get are excuses. He stated he transported my bikes to another facility. He keeps promising to bring them to me. He does not respond to text messages and is never open on time or during his scheduled hours. I have stopped by many times. I feel as if he has stolen, sold, or lost my bikes. Andrew Torres is not responsible and has done nothing but give me empty promises. Stay away. Find another store to shop at.

HORRIBLE service experience. Ordered tri outfit for my daughter, sent wrong size 2x and then refused to refund. Spent an additional $ 27 shipping back and forth. Returned zero phone calls. Will NEVER do biz with this co again or recommend them to anyone. Waste of $ 130!!!’

Amazing shop! It is super low-key and doesn’t look like much from the inside. The owner, Andrew, is highly knowledgeable and an all around great business owner. I moved from my tiny hometown in fear of never finding that local bike shop that would hook you up with anything. Boy, was I wrong. This is the place to go!

*********** UPDATE: Annoying experience, but the worst part of this whole thing? I wrote this review on Unilocal. For clarity I omitted their poor customer service with regard to the trash bag containing my gear(full story below) and focused on the fact that they wouldn’t take my Ironman backpack despite conforming to Tri Bike Transport’s size and weight guidelines. They sent me a message telling me they checked their cameras of when the bike was dropped off(this is creepy in my opinion) and essentially called me a liar. They said Unilocal reviews«must be the truth», and I should«depict the incident as it actually occurred,» among other choice quotes. I guess they checked their security tape from months ago(again, creepy), and immediately assumed that because they saw a trash bag, I must be a liar rather than just asking me for clarification. But even so, I agreed update the review to add in the trash bag part, even though I really don’t think it’s especially relevant to the focus of the review about them messing up my gear bag. *********** I hate to give Houston’s only tri-specific shop a bad review, but just really did not have a good experience here. I did like the older location, but don’t care too much for this new location. First, the pic up with Tri on the Run in white letters is of the old location on Memorial. So I used them for Tri Bike Transport(«TBT») services as they were the only TBT location in Houston. Very hard to get any information on the phone if you can get them to answer. Finally let them know when I would be by with my bike. Here’s what happened: 1. Tri bike was brought to Tri on the Run and they accepted without much hassle 2. Along with the tri bike, a «gear bag» was brought to ship with the bike because I paid $ 40 for that added service 3. This«gear bag» was a heavy-duty garbage bag containing my aero helmet in its carrying bag and an Ironman backpack from a previous race that contained my wetsuit, CO2 cartridges, and other small assorted items 4. They wouldn’t take the garbage because it was too big, TBT’s regulations say 12×12×18 is the max size. I think it would have been pretty close 5. Unfortunately, despite Tri on the Run’s presumed experience with TBT, they didn’t try to come up with any solutions to the dilemma(bad customer service) 6. I think the best solution(that they didn’t offer, despite their experience with TBT) was to maybe just have them take the Ironman backpack by itself, which definitely complied with TBT’s size guidelines 7. Tri on the Run absolutely would not take the Ironman backpack by itself; they insisted it had to be a duffle-type bag. They wouldn’t budge and insisted the backpack wouldn’t work, had to be a «duffle» 8. Unfortunately, their word was taken on the issue even though TBT’s regulations don’t state anything of the sort. I had a super tight schedule and didn’t have the ability to sort it out with TBT themselves and take a gear bag back to the shop. So I paid $ 40 for the gear bag service with TBT that Tri on the Run would not allow me to use even though it complied with TBT’s guidelines. When I got to the race, pretty much every gear bag at the TBT area was the exact same Ironman freebie-with-registration backpack that I tried to give Tri on the Run(they’re very common bags among people who do Ironmans as they’re generally given away free at registration for an Ironman)! So, Tri on the Run messed up. Their mistake made me waste the $ 40 gear bag charge and meant I had to carry more gear on the plane and I had to purchase more CO2 cartridges at the race since CO2 cartridges cannot be taken on the plane. So overall their mistake cost me probably $ 50(gear bag charge + CO2 cartridges) and extra time, hassle, and frustration. Getting my bike back was worse. Again, called for a couple days to see when would be the best time for me to come by. No answer ever, no response to messages. I just decided to show up. They looked like they were renovating, construction everywhere. The guy was in a hurry, I tried to show him my ID and I think he looked at it, then I pointed at my bike on the other side of the room on the rack, walked over, and walked it out. Surprising given the other person’s review that they needed a bunch of random information to pick up the bike, while I barely had to show my ID. I could have grabbed any bike and walked out!

Not sure how this place is in business. Shipped a bike with Tri Transport through this location(only choice in greater Houston). Tried to call for several days(verified correct phone number) and it went directly to voice mail. When my wife tried to pick up my bike after the race, with a form filled out by me and a photocopy of my Driver’s License and a military ID with MY name and social security number and having identified my bike and gear bag without my name even on it, they wouldn’t release the bike. I fully support them not giving my bike to just anyone BUT my wife had more than enough credentials to pick up the bike on my behalf. Serial Number? Who in the heck has that handy?! They could have at least been cordial about it rather than complete A$$‘s. That coupled with the fact that the store has about as much of a selection in tri gear as an empty closet makes it a horrible choice to shop for tri gear. I suspect they’re the only shop in the area… but if you can afford to go elsewhere(Bicycle World of Houston is a great alternative) then I’d def do so.

It’s great to walk in a place and get treated like a valued customer. The gentleman immediately acknowledged my existence and helped me with my bike. No pressure and no ego… I like this place and will definitely be back.

Terrible/dishonest service with my special order for Brooks Adrenaline running shoes in my size. I stopped by two weeks in a row based on the promised arrival date but the shoes never arrived. After complaining to the owner Andrew Torres, I was told the shoes had been on backorder from Brooks. I was surprised by this answer because it was the first I had heard about it(really, two weeks later?) So I called Brooks customer service who said the order was placed just yesterday! After missing more than two weeks of running, I asked for a refund to buy shoes elsewhere and was told that I could only get a store credit. So learn from my mistake and have an extra pair of shoes on hand or order shoes, etc… online from or from with free 1-business day delivery. Can’t wait to run again!

Great LBS… Tony has bailed me out on 2 separate occasions when having bike issues prior to a race. Friendly, knowledgeable and cost-effective.

Came by Tri On The Run at its new location on Shepherd to pick up some gear for my upcoming tris. The store is much bigger than the old. They offer tune up on bikes and classes on triathlons. They didn’t have much of a trisuit selection for women but I did end up getting one that I was pleased with. I also bought nutrition for pre-race day. Salt pills are important to prevent cramps! They have gels, anti-chafe cream, plus more essentials to prepare you for the triathlon. Check it out.

Good for serious athletic equipment for those who plan on doing things like triathlons. They will be moving to a new location though FYI

horrible. have not seen such a poorly run store in a long time. I guess thats why they have to over charge for stuff. Do not believe them they are liars. As a consumer I would wish this horrible store upon no one. Find another store. do not tri on the run.

These guys are knowledgeable, experienced, and happy to talk with you and share experiences. It’s clear they’re more interested in helping you than trying to push you into buying something. The bike and equipment prices are on par with any other LBS and running shop you’ll find, so you might as well go somewhere that you’ll be helpful. It also helps this shop is the closest LBS to my apartment.

Great small local shop for Triathletes, cyclists, runners, swimmers and walkers or just plain health conscious. Great staff, good selections, great pricing on tri bikes! I swing by this place after my run at memorial park. Also after the your run, cycle at memorial park this strip center has you food/recharge pit stop… coffee places, kolaches, mexican food if you are hungry after burning all them calories…=) I know I’m wrong for this… but i like it

So I decided to take up triathlons and signed up for one in Galveston. I have very basic knowledge of swimming and was told to get a wet suit since it helps keep you float in the water and since I didn’t own one at the time, I had to find one QUICK. I was recommended by a friend to stop by this place because everyone who works here has done triathlons and have a no nonsense approach to recommending gear. The have a good selection of gear for swimming, biking and running specifically for triathlons. I ended up buying a triathlon suit, a wet suit and goggles. I think they also rent out wetsuits but at the time every thing was rented out due to the upcoming Lonestar ½ Ironman that weekend.

I’ve spoken to Johnny a couple times and I gotta say, he’s helpful, thorough, and seems genuinely interested in taking care of customers. That said, they try to get you on the right bike for your goals and budget. Then can help you train properly so you don’t spin your wheels when you don’t want to. Triathlons are a big commitment and they do their part to prepare you for all 3 events in their fit lab. I’m not affiliated with them in any way but as a customer. Good people. I’ll gladly spend my $$$ here. How much does a Tri bike cost? How much have you got, I mean what is your budget? Could be $ or $$$$$

So I’ve been doing the whole running thing for awhile now and started doing the biking thing well natural course of action is pick up the swimming and start doing triathlons. Well sure enough I came to the right place. I stepped inside and was greeted nicely by Kevin. He was very knowledgeable and walked me through what other equipment I needed to compete in Tris. They have a good selection of gear for all of your Tri needs. I’ve been having problems with getting blisters and other«shoe stores» haven’t been able to figure it out but I think Kevin did it. It was the way the gel was in the Asics were affecting my running style and recommended some mizuno shoes and they have solved the problem. As far as the bike side they offer some of the cheapest prices around, 10 dollars for a tire true and 35 for a tune-up. Best prices in town. These guys host a couple of events throughout the year also. You could tell they knew their stuff and was not snobby about it. I will be coming here for all of my Tri needs. When you can get all 3 in one why go anywhere else.
