My friend and I tried this place last month. It was freezing outside and we had been wanting to eat some place we hadn’t eaten before. There was no heat. It was just as cold inside as it was outside. There was very little in the way of a menu. I only remember seeing burgers on said menu. But what sent up the giant red flag for me was that this place was almost pitch black. I had to use my phone to read the menu and from what I could see from my phones light the place looked like one big health code violation. We left without eating anything. I gave it the second star because I could not judge the taste of the food. There burgers may be awesome, I’ll never know for myself.

good burger, too much egg in the meat, makes patty hard. too much mayo and burger was much smaller than the bun.

Great burgers, but inside looks really run-down and you never know when they will be open.

This hole-in-the-wall is the hole-in-the-wall of all holes-in-walls. This place boasts of the best home-style burger in Spring, believe it! I drive by what is essentially somebody’s rundown farmhouse daily. Only reason you know they serve food here are the flags out in the front that says ‘burgers’ and a small open sign. Place looks scary on the outside. It makes the Texas Chainsaw Massacre house look more upscale and inviting. They don’t have a set schedule so it’s hard to know when it’s open or closed? Most of the time it’s closed. Today I ate a late lunch and saw the open sign on, so I took the chance. Drive up to the gravel lot, it’s basically on a small farm along Stuebner-Airline north of FM1960. With housing developments and businesses all over 1960, it’s one of the last vestige of pre-1980s rural life in north Houston. Walk outside and all I smell is manure. Can’t tell if it’s from the farm or the feed store across the street. Walked inside and I was the only one. Great setting for a horror flick. Inside is rundown and almost appears like its been frozen in time since the 1970s. Place is super-dark inside. Greeted by a nice lady in the back. I sat down and ordered from the sign behind the counter for choices. Ordered a cheeseburger, fries, and boudin. As I sat on the sticky old seats, I noted my surroundings. There’s a no-smoking sign, but it smells like a smoke-filled seedy lounge here. There’s a tv to watch, an old pool table to play on, 2 other separate rooms(one of them has a globe in it). I leaned back against the wall to find something furry. Lo and behold, the carpet here is on the wall instead of the floor lol. Some of the regulars start to trickle in for lunch as well. One group was busy playing dominoes while waiting for their burgers. Food comes out quickly. 2 plates come out, one with a cheeseburger and fries, other with a long thick boudin and a row of crackers. The boudin turned out ok, but not as great as I had hoped. It was piping hot with its fillings of rice/meat. The French fries were cut long and thick. The fries were pretty mediocre at best. So far not so good. Then I ate the burger that saved the day. It was fresh, thick, and moist. The buns were just right. The patty was hand-formed, thick, well-done, but still moist with a slice of cheese oozing on top of the hot patty. It was topped simply with lettuce, mayo, onions, pickles, tomatoes, and crispy slices of bacon. I’m ready to scream«what-a-burger» even though I’m in the wrong place. It’s a relatively simple honest burger that’s executed well, nothing fancy, pretentious, complicated, or gourmet about it. And it’s a big burger(I couldn’t finish mine). Great burger! Bring cash only(no CC allowed). Don’t go here if smoke bothers you, sticky furniture annoys you, or scary-looking haunted houses scare you. I’ll be back next time to try their pork chop sammich

It’s easy to miss this place, especially at night. After driving past it several times on my way home, I decided to stop by and check it out. Don’t let the outside fool you, this is a good burger/Cajun joint. Like other people have mentioned, THEBURGERSAREAMAZING!!! I was astonished by how good my burger was. The veggies were fresh and whole too(none of that chopped up lettuce stuff). Some of the characters in the place looked a bit ominous, but after a couple of minutes there I was at ease. The owner, Tree, was welcoming and kind. The place is not a «smoke-free zone», so it does smell a bit, but the food and hospitality more than make up for it. I will definitely continue to frequent this place.

I passed this place often since it’s close to home. I finally decided to give it a go because it claimed to have the best burger in Houston. My fiancée and I went a little after 6, and the place looked all but abandoned. The neon«OPEN» sign shone brightly in the windows, however, so we pressed forward. Inside it was dark and smelled vaguely of smoke. A table with scattered dominoes was to the left, accompanied by a deactivated slot machine. There was no one except a tall man reclining behind the counter. He greeted us and asked if this was our first time. He apologized if he didn’t sound so chipper as he had a couple of teeth removed by the dentist earlier. We ordered burgers«all the way»(mayo/mustard, lettuce, onion, and pickles) along with a side of fries. He went to the back, leaving us alone in the room with the television. A group of other guys entered while we waited, chatting and enjoying themselves. They sat comfortably as if it were home. The man came out and chatted briefly with them and got them beers. He then went and retrieved our food. Toasted bun, crispy bacon, creamy cheese. The best part in my opinion is the cajun seasoning mixed into the meat, adding a mild burn in addition to the satisfying heat of the beef as you eat. The fries were soft and thick, rubbed in cajun seasoning as well. My fiancée opted for a burger without cheese, which made the cajun seasoning even more pronounced. All in all, very satisfying. Tree(as we learned) thanked us and asked our names as we left. He explained that he’d been in the business for 30 years and loves making new friends. We paid and left him with his older friends as he joined them in a round of pool. If you’re looking for a bit of an adventure at a «dive,» this is a great one. The food is totally worth it. The ambience is a little offsetting, but rather cozy once you acclimate. I’m sure we’ll be stopping by to visit Tree again.

Third time trying to go here for lunch, finally open for once(not sure their hours, or if they keep regular hours). The place is pretty run down. Usually this adds character for me but after visiting this place I felt like I should drive to an isolated cabin where I would get tortured to death after ignoring and ridiculing an old man who warned us of such things in this restaurant. That’s the type of place it is: pool table, juke box, card table, small tv playing soaps, and super dark. Ate on the patio which was nice but the furniture was in bad shape. The burger was decent but small and the fries were sub par. I would go here simply for the novelty of going to such a sketchy place but not for any other reason. Not great food.

I will admit I was apprehensive when my boyfriend pulled up to this place– hole in the wall doesn’t quite cover it, more like an abandoned house familiar because it was in a horror movie. We went in after he assured me I was not going to be hacked up and put on the black market and we were greeted by the owner Tree. He was a sweet man and put me at ease, answering questions I peppered him with. We ordered and he went into the kitchen to start our order. The food doesn’t disappoint; our burgers were juicy and the veggies were crisp. The fries were amazing! Eric got greedy and ordered boudin as well and it was great too. The food belies the shady exterior and I am dragging several friends to this restaurant when they’re back in town!
