I ordered ribs, but was told not to get the beef as the pork were better. Pork ribs were not good, so glad I didn’t get the beef ribs. Meat was hard to chew, though there was a good smoke line on it. Iced tea was good.

Solid BBQ. Would give them a 3.5 if possible. I have seen Thomas BBQ for years and years and never went in. I decided as I was driving to the Woodlands I would hit it up because they offer drive thru and there wasn’t a line. I ordered a ½ pound of brisket and a ½ pound of sausage. The guy asked if I wanted their home made spicy sausage or their regular beef and pork version. I asked for a half and half and he made it happen. The spicy sausage was pretty good. A very coarse grain link which was cut into larger pieces. It really wasn’t spicy to me and I’m not a fan of spicy at all so that should tell you something. The regular sausage reminded me of eckrich sausage and although good, my arteries cried for what I was putting them through. Now on to the brisket. It was moist but not overly moist. My meat came from the flat part of the brisket so it was very lean with very little fat or bark. The meat did have a good smoke ring and flavor but it was just par for the coarse. Nothing special and nothing to long for. When my food was ready, they offered pickles, onions, sauce and all the other normal fair. I passed on all of this to keep the meal low carb. When I dug in their were also 4 huge slices of buttered Texas Toast that looked so amazing but I passed and threw them out for the birds. I dreamed of how good that bread would have been with brisket sausage, onions and sauce made into a sandwhich… Damn you carbs!

This is by far the best BBQ I’ve had in a long time. It is comparable to the top notch BBQs in Austin with the authentic southern flavor. The ribs are to die for as they slide right off the bone. The loaded brisket baked potato is a must order. The place is BYOB so it’s a perfect place to chill and drink with friends. I’ll definitely be a return customer.

So after my first review was removed for not having enough content. Let me tell you more. This place is not a bbq place it was terrible I love bbq and could choke this garbage down. I had been on the road traveling for 12 hour and was starving to death. I saw this place and thought this will be great but instead found it to be a huge waste of time and money. The only thing I ended up eating was the toast. This place was dirty and dingy. All the food(as they call it) was just steam table jerky. I love bbq and stop all over the USA to eat it and love so many of the bbq places in Texas but Thomas Bar B Q is not one I would ever go back to. I tried the beef brisket potato salad I almost wonder the the potato salad was spoiled or if it just tasted that bad. Drive past this place do not eat here

I came here as an alternative and I’m glad to announce that while working here in Houston I was able to visit the WORSEBBQ restaurant in town. I ordered the brisket, it literally had no taste and the guy who was slicing it did it incorrectly making it tough and chewy. The upside was their Cole slaw was good. The place was empty which should’ve been my first clue that this place was bad, even bad BBQ restaurants have a customer or two. For most part, I’m sure this place is visited by folks staying in hotels nearby and its pretty much«One and Done».

This place was disappointing but it’s still better than Rudy’s. I’m not sure why Houston barbecue is so lacking(yes, even Gatlin’s) compared to the surrounding small towns. I’ve had way better and cheaper bbq at buffets like Buppy’s in Bryan but this’ll do in a pinch. If you think places like Rudy’s is barbecue then you’ll do just fine here.

I’ve had me some baaahbecue son. All the BBQ is good here! I would say this was a great choice as we were hesitantly dragged here by a local. It was like homemade. All the meats and sides and the pie were good. No booze. Not fancy. But omg I still dream about that bbq. :)

Simple place, everything looked clean and organized. Friendly service and prompt. I had the slice beef and homemade sausage with peach cobbler and fries as my sides. The meats tasted good and the barbecue sauce was very good(more vinegar tasting than sweet). But when I started to eat the cobbler and fries I noticed they cut corners on the quality. Cheap oil for the frys and cheap crust for the cobbler. You can tell the difference. My friends and office mates said the same. All the sides that my group had were bad or cheap quality. If they spent more money on the quality, this place would be good enough to return to. But as it stands now, we will not be back. Oh, also the price of our meals were on the high side. $ 16 for a two meat with two sides(cobbler was an extra .99 cents) and a drink.

Atomosphere Nothing about this place feels authentic. For starters it was empty which is weird for a Sunday afternoon at a bbq spot in this area. There are wagon wheels and reproduction paraphernalia from the old west on the walls interspersed with photos from a positive review of the place on Fox News. Service & Food Lovely lady behind the counter who explained the difference in the amount of meat you get on beef vs pork ribs. I Got the pork ribs and my DH, a pulled pork sandwich. The meat was dreadful. Each dish was a combo of gristle and fat. Meat was hard to find. The sauce wasn’t too bad but it couldn’t save the poor quality meat. Sadly not even the side dishes escaped from cutting corners. The slaw was slathered in mayo. I could have sucked the thing through a straw. The black eyed peas… i mean how do you screw that up… tasted like they had sat in water having all memory of flavor leached from them. It was one of the worst dining experiences for a couple of years. The Take Home Message This place is visible from I-610 and its for people in a hurry who are passing through. There is no way this place could survive on repeat business. We won’t be back under any circumstances.

I have tried Brisket at many popular restaurants in Texas, and this restaurant delivers just as well as the major chain restaurants. The atmosphere reflects well with the theme of the food. The Loaded Baked Potato is delicious, and I’m one to be highly selective when it comes to potatoes. I believe there is something excellent that family owned restaurants have above major chain restaurants, and I suggest BBQ enthusiasts to try the food here.

As much as I wanted to enjoy this place I just couldn’t. I don’t know what to say about Koreans cooking Texas style BBQ. Don’t get me wrong I love Korean BBQ and I enjoy Texas BBQ, but separately. The joint totally looks like something you would find on a restaurant rescue type show. The inside is very outdated, which can bring charm, but just looks like nothing has been done in the last 30 years. The food service, is very sloppy, just screaming out orders. No real system in place from the looks of things. As far as the food, it’s not terrible, but just very bland and dry. I’d imagine that’s why they over their food in BBQ sauce unless requested dry. The only saving grace is instead of white bread, it’s at least covered in butter and toasted.

I noticed my review distribution was skewed a bit high, so I reflected on my recent dining experiences to come up with one that left me dissatisfied. Thomas BBQ fit that bill. A mediocre chopped beef sandwich and some gluey, bland mac and cheese, washed down with some stale iced tea were pretty disappointing. It’s not surprising that the dining room was practically deserted at what should have been the lunch rush. This place is a few notches down from Dickey’s, in my opinion. The staff was friendly, and the location is convenient, but I will just drive on by next time. There’s a Gabby’s and a Demeris just a few miles away that both offer a better experience.

I stopped by here for a late lunch. The place feels a little divey but who cares. The BBQ was decent, although nothing really special. I ate the pork ribs and the sliced beef and it was all just ok. The upside was it was very inexpensive for BBQ. While there is certainly better BBQ in Houston I am not sure there is less expensive BBQ in Houston. So to sum it up, this place is great if you want the taste of BBQ, and you have very little money to spend.

While running out to Lowes realized that it had gotten late and had not had any lunch. Thomas’ bar-b-q is right there so we popped in. The price was inexpensive and that is about the best I can say. The bar-b-q was pretty lack-luster and not really memorable at all. With so many great Bar-B-Q options in Houston there are definitely better options. The gentleman that took our order was very friendly.

The beef susage made in house is the best thing going on here. The rest of the food is good but the management is so cheap you have to beg for a napkin and fork. So this is a(BYON) bring your own napkins kind of place.

One of the simplest meals that I can recall preparing at an early age is a sausage sandwich. You know your girl only eats whole wheat or multigrain bread… but… on the rare occasion that I get home for some good Q, I tend to like the little slices of white bread they throw in there. It’s a standard — along with pickles & onions. Thomas BBQ is one of the best places to get a truly spicy sausage that doesn’t lack flavor(or heat). The link even tastes good without sauce. It had been quite a few years since I’d visited this location. However, I came here a couple of days ago with my mother to pick up an order of sliced sausages for a jambalaya dish we were preparing. It took all of my self-disciplinary skills to not reach in that foil pan & finish half of the order before heading to the car. I caught myself eyeing another patron’s chopped beef baker — and I had to stop before I ordered one to go. This 4 star review is not for the viewing of O.P.P.(Other People’s Potatoes), but rather for the fiery beef sausages and ginormous turkey leg we ordered. I’ll be back… that’s a promise!
