I frequently find myself in here when shopping for gifts for kids. They have a pretty good selection for all ages but I’m the type of person who rarely buy toys for kids. I always want to get them a book or something interactive(not electronic). The Lift never lets me down. They always have the perfect book and card. The shop itself is small but not crowded and smells amazing thanks to the unique soaps! Love The Lift!

Y’all, I love this store but here is the deal, in the five times I’ve gone it never opens on time. I’ll eat a breakfast taco at Torchys, and then head over. And then hang out till 11:10 when it gets open. Today I had my family in and they wanted a Texas gift, guess what? 11:05 dark no action. Cruised on down to see what’s shaking at Jubillee, picked up a few things, then came back down to the Lift. Lights were on, door locked. My sister had a hurt foot so we bailed at 11:20. Booooo, my dad was super bummed because he wanted to get some Texas coasters for his home in Orlando. So 5 stars for the cute store with quality items, lose three stars for the not opening at stated business hours shenanigans.

This is by far the best find in The Heights! I always enjoy visiting and have always found the perfect gift for any occasion. If you haven’t visited The Lift, you’re definitely missing out on something good.

As other reviewers have said, this store is pretty small. But don’t let that put you off going to it! The selection is still pretty decent, even without much space for books. I went specifically looking for some new books to read, and even with the small space, I still found two that I really wanted. When I went there seemed to be a lot of books that were recently made into movies or soon will be, so it’s definitely a good place to go if you want to read the book first. They also had a pretty big selection of kids’ books. There are a lot of gifts, cards, etc here as well, and their bags are cute enough to be gift wrap on their own.

This place is so cute. I try to support local book stores and the two ladies working were friendly and helpful. There immediately available stock is good, but slightly limited. However, they are happy to order whatever you need.

Small little gift store with books, cards, soaps and other things. Definitely worth checking out. The person running the store was really nice. I recommend putting this place on the list of places to buy gifts if you want to buy something cute without dealing with the hassle of the mall.

Cheeky little store and the owner and other staff are so wonderfully nice. The sell a jewelry brand that I have come to love called Waxing Poetic and I have put several items on a wish list at the store for the holidays.

I read about this delightful store in the Chronicle so we visited this past Sunday. Rhonda is the wonderfully creative owner. She has a great mix of titles(lots of contemporary fiction) to choose from and some of the best gift lines. Everything is so appealing that you want to shop, shop, shop.

This store is a great discovery. Tucked into a niche on 19th Street, it has a wonderful selection of «reader’s books», gifts, and other fun things. The owner is really nice and the place has a nice vibe.

Not only do I love this store, but so do my children. Rhonda, the owner, will find the perfect book… all you need to do is tell her the interests of the reader! The shop is inviting and the books and gifts are fun.

I stumbled upon this charming bookstore and gift shop the other day whilst strolling 19h Street in The Heights. I wasn’t searching for any book or gift in particular, but found an assortment of items ideal for most people on my «last-minute» Christmas shopping list. They feature a lot of book club books, best sellers, poetry, authors(and autobiography of Mark Twain caught my eye), and other upLIFTing topics(think«Women, food and God».) — is that the theme they’re going for? If so, I like. They also had a small selection of stationary and notepads, cute«lunchbox sticky note messages,» some jewelry, home décor, sunglasses, umbrellas, kids’ toys and other tchotchkes. I only deducted a star because I was there for quite a while, and not once did the working employee approach/great me or others. It would have been nice to given a little background about the store and book selection without having to piece it together or come home and check out the website. Still, this quaint boutique gift shop is definitely worth a visit.

the LIFT is a small boutique type shop on 19th in the Heights. It’s run by a very personable author Rhonda Rhodes which explains why the shop is half-bookstore and half gifts. They have a great selection of hardback bestsellers and plenty of cards, notebooks, small gifts, jewelry and a limited, but well thought out selection of other goodies like organic lollipops, toys, organic lotions and lipglosses and more! Needless to say, I love the vibe and hope that her neighborhood store flourishes! Go shop now!
