So as we all know, HD associates are NEVER around when you need them but won’t leave you alone when you don’t. How do they know!!! Anyways, no different at this particular HD but I was eventually able to hunt down a helpful associate. All of the associates I encountered were super-friendly. This HD is like any other… a little grimy but still a pleasant shopping experience.

11÷6÷15 — I was at this HD between 3:30 — 4:00 pm trying to buy a large bolt, washers and nuts(none of which have barcodes or price tags). I went to the front checkouts and all that was open were the self-service ones — and not one HD employee in sight. Went to the customer service desk, waited to finally talk to them and asked them to get someone up front. They just looked at me and didn’t do anything. I flagged down another employee and again asked them to get someone to check out. They pointed me over to the customer service area again. So, I put the stuff down and left. This had been my ‘go-to’ store for home supplies. Now, I’ll drive farther to Lowe’s!

If you want good customer service or help finding things, this is not the store for you. Probably one of the more lack luster stores.

Well laid out store, friendly people, and all of the self-check out kiosks work! Yaay!

This HD is a good one — it usually has what we need and I prefer shopping here rather than the competitor store over in Bunker Hill because that one just gets ridiculously crowded. I agree with the other reviewers that it’s fairly difficult to get assistance but it’s not impossible. Plenty of parking, good selection, well-stocked. It’s A-OK!

This is the location I go to for supplies at work. They carry a wide variety of items and the staff is helpful anytime I questions. For some reason, the products I usually purchase are located in the very back of the store which leads to quite a bit of walking. The prices here seem a little cheaper than compared to Lowe’s. I feel that the customer service and help is better at Lowe’s though. I mainly go here because it is close to work and convenient for me to get in and out. You should be able to find what you are looking for and be able to get someone to help you if you need it.

I am now afraid to ask someone for help at HD because more often than not, I will follow the employee to ask 4 more employees, ending up with a firm and sure«we don’t carry that, try so and so» and as I wonder off disappointed I come across what I was looking for. Therefore, I just look for it myself. Besides the employee knowledge of their store, I usually find what I’m looking for at a decent price, especially when it comes to the garden center. Preferably I would like to visit my favorite nursery, but it is over an hour from where I live, so pretty much the reason I come here is convenience, which is not a bad thing, not a bad thing at all.

*gasps* I actually got friendly expert assistance here, and I’m still in shock. For the past few years, HD service and store atmosphere sucked way behind Lowe’s. They have been trying to do better, with such revolutionary concepts as labeling the aisles and getting rid of the incessant beeping forklifts that tried to mow you down in the aisles like you were a squirrel on the freeway. I went into HD unsure of the connector pipe and valve I should get to complete a toilet rebuild. I didn’t anticipate replacing these, but it turned out that part of the leak was the cut-off valve and the copper pipe from that to the toilet. I was standing in front of a display of plumbing parts slowly figuring out what to do when an HD person stopped, asked if I was replacing the toilet connections, proceeded to give me the correct parts — a flexible connector instead of the rigid pipe(much easier to fit into place and less risk of damaging it) and suggested that I get the newer ¼ turn shut-off valve instead of the direct-replacement 592-turn valve I had in my hand(It cost a staggering $ 1 more). He gave me some advice on the valve installation, mentioned I didn’t need the teflon tape I had in my hand, and sent me on my way with a friendly«come back if you have any other questions». The day would have been complete(and another star) had it not been for the non-verbal purchase transaction from the traditional face-botulism-paralyzed drone at the register.
