This place lacks consistency. I’ve been there a few times now because I used to work at a private school close by. It’s your typical All-American bigger joint. I like the décor. It’s like walking into a bit of a museum. I discover something new on the walls everytime. The food and service is hit or miss. The burger were never anything special but if they are seasoned correctly, they usually get a pass. The last time I went in, I got my usual bacon cheese burger… and it was so bland. The only flavor in the bite was from the jalapeño bun. The owner came out and asked how my meal was so I was honest with him. He asked me when was the last time I came in and I told him I had been in for lunch previously and he said«Oh that’s why. You had a different cook. The night cook doesn’t season the patties because we serve mostly old people and old people are sensitive to seasoning.» Ummm are you serious? That was the weakest excuse for poor quality food I’ve ever heard. I’m over this place.

I’d driven by this place many, many times on my trek home from work. I just never visited it because it’s always in the middle of rush hour traffic and I just want to get home quick. So, one sunny day when I was actually driving to Austin from work, I decided to stop by here and actually give this place a shot and see if this could compete with the many other burger joints in town. The concept is simple: you come in, your order, they take your order out for you. They claim that their patties are never frozen(fresh is always good) and I believe their patties are ½-lb so you’ll eat pretty big burgers. Me and my friend both ordered the same thing: The Bacon Cheeseburger. Can’t go wrong with a classic, right? My friend also added a fried egg to his burger(a whopping $ 1.95 when most places charge $ 1) and he went with the onion rings(I think this was also another $ 1.95 for fries substitution) and a drink while I opted to go with fried pickles(another upcharge) and some water. Our total? $ 28 and change for the meals. Definitely not the cheapest joint in town. While we were ordering, the guy behind the cashier seemed indifferent to us. No smiles, no hello, no hospitality at all. Just a forced«what can I get you?» and no enthusiasm at all. Meh. The food didn’t take too long to come out and yes, the were good sized and they did taste pretty good; but they weren’t «OHMYGODTHISISTHEMOSTAWESOMESTBESTESTTHINGTHAT I’VEEVERHAD» good. My fried pickles were unimpressive. I definitely wouldn’t order it again. If you’re in the area, craving some burger, and wanting a quick bite, then this place would be a good place for you to swing by. If you’re here during lunch time and you’re not in a rush, go to Jonathan’s the Rub and try their burgers instead. Totally agreed with Patricia D. — this is an all in all ok place. However I doubt that I’ll be back.

The best burgers! They also offer a different special everyday. I usually come in for their Tuesday special which is a bacon cheeseburger basket(yes, it comes with bacon cheeseburger, drink) for about $ 9 bucks. You can’t beat that! The burger and bacon are top quality. Also, the owner is a Houstonian! Gotta support our people! Yum, I want to eat this now!

This is my first time here and I ordered the little shack burger and was pleasantly surprised. The burger tasted fresh and the fries were tasty. Nice atmosphere. Will definitely come back

Only giving it three stars because the fries served with the burgers are inedible. These dry skinny fries are saturated with so much salt, it’s unreal. With that being said, everything else was on par. Burger was great, as was the service. Most likely will not be going back.

This place should be renamed Shit Burger. By far the worst burger I ever have tasted, from the hockey puck meat patty, to the gigantic thick grilled onions, to the soggy shit bun, to the worse than Subway stale lettuce, to the undercooked sweet potato fries, to the banal wanna be 50’s kitsch décor, to the annoying guns welcome posters plastered everywhere. Never again.

I would have gave them five stars the food was great hot and ready very good atmosphere and the environment was great! Only thing they need to give there workers a customer service class and etiquette. Like he doesnt even want to be there.

It was ok. Nothing special. Not really into the open carry atmosphere. Was in and out as quick as possible. Don’t want to get shot! Had a blue cheese burger with French fries. Not much blue cheese, soggy fries. Better than McDonald’s but not super.

Hispanic guy taking the order is very rude. Have dined there before and reserved great service. Good food but if the service is bad who cares. OWNER: clean house. Your bottom line will thank you. 8400 Katy fwy location Occurred yr ago

Tasty burgers, good service, although it feels understaffed at times. The concealed carry signs are fun and you won’t see any loose baggy pants in there :) Be careful what you order as takeout as my takeout order was wrong twice(two out of two). One time complete disaster as it was different sandwich and 2nd time no fixings on the burgers, just plain bun and meat.

Really really awesome burgers! Fresh hot and juicy!!! You can build your own burger, which I love! Their fries and onions rings are super yummy!!! A must try if I’m the mood for a delicious burger!

I had a meeting of Houston Polyglot café meetup group. The meeting looked like the United Nations. I met Chinese, America, Mexican, African, Latino, etc. But this restaurant is very American. I liked the decoration. I saw many pictures and sports team logos. Especially, there were a lot of beer decorations. I was thirsty. I ordered beer. They didn’t have beer. I saw some coke. I took it. The server and casher said, «it is a Mexican Coke».It was tasty. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. The only think I didn’t like was no-wifi. The others were okay.

I’ve been here several times over the years. It’s a nice place. It’s lost a little something as time had went on in my opinion however. The burgers used to be fantastic but more they are ok. I miss the self serve topping bar. I often get a dry meat party now when I go but I think that’s due to a bad chef. It’s still a good place though.

It’s really a 3.5 star burger place. Wanted to try something new so I stop by to get a cheeseburger and fries which was 7.50 .the fries seasoning was good .the burger tasted fresh and overall it was a decent burger… the downfall was the ac, it was kind of hot .the worker said it was because the battery in the controller was out.

My beef patty was a little burnt and I really don’t like the taste of extremely well– done burgers. The fries had cajun seasoning on them and I really liked that. The overall feel of the restaurant was warm and welcoming. I was able to finish the whole burger, but it definitely left me feeling full for the rest of the day.

I take my kids for a special treat here and there. I love this place. Great food great service every time. Wish we could go more often. You can spend more money at a fast food place with less tasting food. Don’t forget the milkshakes if you have any room left. Amazing place

I will default to Burger Shack if we can’t agree on just where to eat. The Concealed Caryy & «Pull up your pants» signs say it all, it is not a Mc Donald’s in LA where someone feels compleed to cause $ 50,000 worth of damage because their burger had mustard instead of mayo. Food is tasty, well cooked & just a bit too much grease like a lot of burger places. Fries are well done, but they have recently skimped on onion rings when you order a combo. I’ll be back!

My first time trying this place and all I have to say is… pure goodness!!! The staff was great and helpful. The burger is old fashion homemade. I’m so happy I finally stopped by.

This place is good to grab a burger and a milkshake. Things that need attention is customer service, the french fries, and the price is a little steep. Went with my fiancé and I had a cilli cheese burger. She had a mushroom swiss burger. My burger was great with a jalapeño bun. It was messy(like I wanted it to be) and had a great flavor. The fries were rather small, but were still good. My fiancé said her burger needed salt, but was good. She said it lacked seasoning. We both liked the milk shake. This is a small(mom & pop) shop that has good food. This should not be compared with Red Robin or the like. For the type of establishment this is, they are doing good — and can do better. Let me suggest greeting each visitor«Hi welcome to… » Always ask if the customer is a return visitor so you can help them with the menu. Some simple things could booat sales. The price for a burger(single), fries, and a drink runs about $ 10. This is rather high compared to Whattaburger or other burger establishments. Give more for the money(better fries) or lower the price a little. Price is a deciding factor for a lot of people. Make it worth what your asking.
