You must be kidding. 4:45 Friday afternoon. Have been here 15 minutes. 10 people here. Had to wipe down our own table, grab our own menu. Haven’t been approached by anyone. Had to go talk to manager. Told him we were here to Unilocal.Assistant manager Jerri came up, asked for a beer menu. She threw one at us. Rude as hell. 25 minutes, walked out. AVOIDAVOIDAVOID

If you’re going to get beer. Turn around. I’ve been there 2 times and I had to pick about 3 different beers because they were out of everything. They don’t have a beer menu so you have to read the taps which are hard to see. And the bar tender didn’t even turn to speak to us. She spoke with her back towards us. As far as food. They have the smallest menu, plus a few items are scratched off too. The food is good sizes which is the only reason why feel like it even deserves one star. Fries and burgers are good but I don’t think anything else on the menu is worth sitting on a swarm of flys trying to fight for your food and landing on your drinks. It’s absolutely disgusting and the people are unfriendly

This place sucks I’d wait almost 15 minutes just to get service. And then I had to wait another 20 minutes to get a menu brought to me

I’ve eating here once before when the restaurant was called zum barrel. The atmosphere is nice, there’s usually not much traffic inside. On this particular day I came for the $ 6.99 crawfish. We Were a party of 3 and business was slow. When we walked in the waitress was sitting folding napkins and said we could seat our selves. She then came over and gave us our menus. I ordered an appetizer of fried mushrooms and we each got a pound of crawfish. It took about 30 minutes for us to get our fried mushrooms, which we did not like. I spoke to management and he said we could exchange it out for anything else on the app menu or he could refund the mushrooms. I decided on a pretzel with the beer cheese which turned out to be really good, which is why I’m giving the restaurant one star. After about an hour and me complaining about the time it was taking to get the food. We finally got our flavorless and small crawfish. Long story short I won’t be returning. The waitress was crappy, the food was crappy, and if it wasn’t for the manager being polite and having great customer service I would have walked out of the restaurant, due to the wait.

We loved this place when it was Zum Barrel. Our first time back since ownership changed was about a week ago, and although the negative reviews had us concerned, we found absolutely nothing to worry about. Everyone in our group found their favorite items still on the menu(pretzel and bier cheese, hatch chile chicken and dumplings, schnitzel and spätzle), along with a few new exciting burger options. We were also relieved to find some familiar friendly faces greeting us from the kitchen and behind the bar. Without question, this will remain one of our favorite places in the area to grab a great meal.

We used to love this place when it was Zum Barrel. The menu selection was great then and we used to go there for a bite and a drink while watching football. But for some reason, they decided to change the menu, changed it from Zum Barrel to the Branding Iron. Everything has gone south since then. We kept on going hoping things would change for the better but things are just getting progressively worse each time. The staff do not seem to be all that interested in working. Service is way too slow. It’s such a shame because we really LIKED this place and were excited when we first found it.

Stopped in for a beer, had not been here since the place changed from Zum Barrel. Fortunately the beer selection has remained awesome since the transition. Beer and service was so good we decided to give the new menu a try… Glad we did. We split a «Keep Austin Weird» burger… big, juicy and awesome!!! The fries are hard to explain but are enough to come back for by themselves. Will definitely be back… I believe they are bringing back some of the favorite German plates that made Zum Barrel so special.
