Good blues! Get there early for a table. You can bring food in from outside, and the beer selection is good. When the band plays it is next to impossible to move about, but it was a fun time in Houston!

Superlative place to watch live music — blues music that is! Everyone is comfortable here at this hole-in-the-wall, Houston treasure. Top-notch music every night(see their Facebook page for the monthly schedule). Thursdays are especially great with Luther and the Healers playing most Thursday nights(definitely check them out). They have been supporting live music/blues for well over a decade, and I hope that they continue for 50 more years.

I have a love affair with the Blues, and I’ve had a love affair with this establishment for the last 7 years. You won’t get anything fancy here. This is a hole in the wall, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. This place is no-fuss-no-muss-no bullsh**, just the way blues should be enjoyed. What you will get is AMAZING live music here. Your drinks will be STRONG and cheap. You will be well taken care of. This place attracts an eclectic crowd of all people and ages. Quite a loyal following here. It will be crowded by 10:30pm. Luther & the Healers are a must on Thursdays. Zydeco Sundays are amazing too. Great place to bring friends or a lover for a fantastic time. You will let your hair down here and you will be dancing! Xoxo

My favorite live music venue in the city. Really hole-in-the-wall, but fun! fun! fun!

Came here for the Birthday gathering. This place is truly and Ol’ Skool, «hole in the wall» that has been somewhat gentrified ! The band was really good. This little blonde lady sang the Blues, like nobody’s business. I was impressed. I was definitely not impressed by the Cocktails & wish that I enjoyed Beer but it is not my thing.

This place was a lot of fun for a true hole in the wall. Please wear tennis or comfy shoes when entering… the only thing that sets these floors apart from the floors in most bars on bourbon is minus the puke and pee. It’s dirty concrete. Anyhow, the music was great. There were two trumpets, a flute, drums, guitar… true soulful jazz with a guy singing the blues and his heart out. He was sweating a storm up while doing it but refused to take a break; swear they performed 15 songs in a row! Lol. There were people on the dance floor dancing the entire time, one guy on roller skates. Might I add, I loved the diversity. The beer selection was not bad, as well as the liquor selection. When I think big easy I tend to think traditional drinks like hurricanes and hand grenades… these were not offered here; I’m thinking because they want to keep with the older simple crowd. That’s my guess. All in all, we’d come back. Only complaints… too small and the pool tables make it hard to stand around comfy for fear I’ll get whacked with a stick.

This is my favorite bar in Houston. Always have nice music, good performances and awesome beers. Also the bartenders here are excellent. Really attentive and remembers what do you drink last time you were around. They have live performances everyday and like I mentioned they’re pretty good. Good selection of beers in draft. My personal favorite is 512. This is an awesome place to just drink, listen some good music and relax.

Oh my gosh! I have been passing this wonderful little place for years. I have heard for years go on Thursday nights and listen to Luther and the Healers, and for three years this has been on my to-do list. NOMORE… I made it, and I’m so glad I did. Life is very funny, it will truly give you what you need when you least expect it. A great night of music, and beautiful people. No cover charge and no pressure to buy drinks. The little bar table has drawers with fun games inside… oooh yea you can play and enjoy the music. The dance floor was full, the space is charming in a upscale hole in the wall kinda way. I will be back, I’m a little disappointed I haven’t been here before.

Very casual, laid-back atmosphere with reasonable drink prices. A great place to frequent as they have live music performances every night of the week. They don’t charge a cover on weeknights and have only a $ 5 cover on Fridays and Saturdays. We had the pleasure of listening to Luther and the Healers a Blues band that is featured on Thursdays. They played a wonderful variety of songs that kept the dance floor packed all night. This location is a hot spot for Houston’s Swing Dancing community. Not a swing dance pro? Don’t let that keep you away from the dance floor! The regulars are friendly and welcoming to novices.

It’s like you’re in NOLA but you’re not! Great atmosphere with reasonably priced drinks. Loving that Houston actually has a pretty amazing and impressive Blues scene! Friendly patrons and bar staff. Nothing fancy, just good music and a good time. If you’re craving a bit of NOLA and need to escape, this place is it!

Zydeco Sundays, best place to go. It reminds me a little of New Orleans. Also everyone knows you. We went for his birthday and had a great time. We invited friends who did not know there was place near Rice University. That night, one of the entertainers was celebrating his birthday. We ate rice and beans, had cake and great potato salad. The bartender was fantastic, good drinks and music that makes you get on the dance floor.

Found about Zydeco Sundays and attended. Had a great time listening to the bands that played. Good atmosphere and the smell of grilling on a Sunday. The crowd was a mix of ages and walks of life. Parking is tight, but that small stuff.

My wife and I went on a Saturday night. This place looks a shady from the outside, but it wasn’t to bad inside. The drinks were ok, but the bartender was rude. As Blanco’s has closed, this is a new good place for live music. Five dollar cover did not seem bad as that is basically one drink. I would go back and try to find another bar tender. Note: The average age is seemed a little more… my parents age.

First off, I preface my review that I am in Houston… a sprawling expanse of «big box» resturant and bar chains with litte to no depth. Yet I am in THE most funky, aged, cleanly miskept blues/jazz dive I’ve ever seen… its like a Disney ride in that all the trappings are here. Old bar, old couch, mismatched everything and it reeks of authenticity! Real jazz lovers work here… great beer, awesome music… and that«pulp fiction» feel of coolness. Nough said…

There is nothing flashy about the Big Easy… its basically a hole in the wall bar, but in a city that has embraced the upscale lounges, sports bars that have a 1,000 TVs, and beer establishments that have over«100 Beers on Tap,» it is refreshing to find. I got there at 9 and was able to get a seat because it got crowded later(Saturday night). I couldn’t believe how packed the dance floor got. Gin-n-Tonics were $ 4 and had their fair share of gin in them. The music that night was not my personal type of blues… I’m more a chicago blues style, but it was still good live music. I would say the crowd was early 30’s and up. There were two pool tables. I can’t wait to go back on Zydeco night!

This is the sort of place you’d find in Austin: alcohol, laidback atmosphere, free entry, good live music, and a diverse crowd. There’s also dancing. It was packed inside and a lot of people were standing and listening to the music. People parked in the Firestone parking lot. The parking lot was really full. I would take out-of-towners here. I took off a star because the restrooms could be a little more modern. It looked very clean for such a popular venue though.
