The best Thai food I’ve had in Houston. I’ve been going to this place for about 2 years now and for whatever reason, I’ve never rated it. I don’t give too many 5-star ratings but this place deserves it. Service is excellent. I’m sure I’ve been here at least 20 times and out of those 20 occasions I’ve had slow service ONCE(they were short-handed) I’ve been here at lunch and on Friday or Saturday evenings and have always been treated right. I’ve only had two dishes here and will probably never change. Drunken Chicken with brown rice and my other favorite Beef Summer Palace with brown rice. Always cooked to perfection. I never need either salt or pepper. Also, I’m slowly learning the servers. Hat’s off to Miguel, Manuel, and Martin. Wherever I go there by myself or with a guest, I always get 5-star service. The one drawback. I do not like the shrimp chips they now serve. They changed it up now and no longer serve the thin chips. Still it’s not enough to keep me away. I can’t speak for the other Thai Spice locations but the one in the Heights is as good as it gets!

Ordered delivery. Was told 45 minutes. Food arrived cold after 85 minutes including a call to the restaurant. No apologies. No acknowledgement. I’m done.

Today was my first visit to Thai Spice, but it definitely won’t be my last. The food was flavorful, the service was very quick, and the prices were very reasonable. I overheard multiple people at other tables remark about how great many of their dishes are. I had the papaya salad, which was crunchy and tangy and a larger portion than I’ve received at other Thai places. My only note is that it was pretty spicy, much more than I expected. My mouth was on fire — just from a salad. I guess the name of the place should have been a clue, right? My friend had the yellow curry, and she said it was excellent. That seemed to be a favorite amongst the other patrons, as well.

Red curry here has so much flavor. Best in town in my opinion. Pad Thai is excellent. Lunch specials are really good. Client service is really good. Nice to sit outside when spring comes around. Very overall solid place for good Thai food. There Thai spicy is not hot at all. Great food though.

Thai Spice(Heights location) is really some of the best food in Houston, and shows that you don’t have to pay a lot to get great, fresh food. This review is only for the Heights location. Nothing against the other locations, but if you look on their website, all locations are different, with different menus. I also really like the Clear Lake location. Service is always fast and friendly. My wife and I are both vegan, and always make sure to get two orders of the tofu summer rolls. They’re very reasonably priced, very tasty, and the peanut dipping sauce is great. I pretty much stick with the yellow curry tofu. It’s great with rice, but even better with noodles. And even better with the red chili paste they keep on the table. Even better than that, the chili oil they keep on the table: that stuff will spice it up quite a bit. The yellow curry is potatoes, carrots, tofu, rice(or noodles), and a very good curry sauce. My wife gets some other dishes, which I’ve tried, but I always end up getting the curry. The food is fresh and portions are generous. Prices are very reasonable. The place can get pretty busy, and some of the other customers can be annoying, but that’s to be expected in Houston. I will also say I wish the staff allowed me to put my own leftovers into a to-go container. My leftover food gets taken into the kitchen by the wait staff and packaged for me. The containers always seem to be too conveniently perfectly sized for the amount of food I have. An amount of food that, on a couple of occasions, seemed like less than what had been on my table before it was taken in the kitchen. I would definitely prefer to just get a container so I could pack up leftover food myself. That, however, is a minor problem, since I usually don’t have anything leftover. The food is so good, I recommend it to anyone in the Heights, especially vegans and vegetarians.

Nice little place in the heights, clean and comfortable. Had a basic lunch of Lo Mein which had good portions with adequate meat. It didn’t blow me away but was solid, then again I only ordered Lo Mein, tripping off the Anglo alarm to the cook.

The standard, run-of-the-mill Thai Restaurant that has become my go-to on my lazy Friday and Saturday nights. Using Pad Thai as the [universal] benchmark for Thai food quality, Thai Spice does not disappoint– their servings run large and are rich in flavor. They deliver on exactly what you want and come to expect. I’m a Pad Thai junkie so I have yet to branch out to other entrees on their menu; however, my friends can attest to the similar quality of other menu items. Their fried calamari appetizers are a great snack(I recommend sharing as they are quite filling), and for the non-sushi snobs, their sushi is mediocre enough to do the job. They are far from the unique/foodie-type restaurants that Houston is plastered with, and they don’t try to be. They know their niche and embrace it. If you’re looking to satisfy a Thai food craving of any-type, look no further.

We love the food and service here! Every entrée is better than the last — i love the dumplings, sate and the drunken chicken! Also a huge value for the money. Can’t wait to go back again and again!

Our go to Thai place in the hood. You get free chips for dine in(and takeout if you ask nicely). The green curry has been super spicy in my experience, but they are always willing to make a milder version for me. Pad Thai is delicious. They also have some Chinese food options. Also, BYOB!

Last time coming here after a server slips out to me that they use the tea bags 3 – 4 times. Not cool.

Got it delivered. Everything was great except the 6 – 8 long black hairs(with roots still attached?!) in my Pad Thai.

The food is ok but the service is awful. I have gone back to this place for lunch a few time and the service was always off. Today was especially bad. My office phoned in an order of 8 lunch entrées. The restaurant boxed up the meals in a large cardboard box. I made it all the way back to the office and noticed one meal was missing. When I called the restaurant the lady said«it here come back». A refund over phone was not an option. Ok so I drove back 8 miles and told them how horrible it was to have to come back. I ASKEDWHYTHEYDIDN’T CALLME if they knew it was left out of box. The worst part is they never once apologized and acted like I was putting them out. Oh and not one fortune cookie was included(I guess they already knew my fortune lol) Who is the customer? With all the great restaurants in Houston, I will be going elsewhere for lunch.

My daughter and I frequent this place, it’s one of her favorites. We usually get the fresh spring rolls, miso soup and sate chicken. Always fresh and the dipping sauces are a favorite. I’ve tried the dumplings — great, the crispy spring rolls — delish, the curry chicken — awesome, their salads are really good and their sushi is always satisfactory. The people are amongst the greatest part there as well, always so kind and attentive. I highly recommend this Thai Spice!

I’ve eaten here or picked up several times. Everything is just ok. I’ve been trying to find that diamond in the rough and so far the only thing that taste good enough to order again are the Winter Rolls. I won’t be returning. I tried.

I don’t know how I did this but I accidentally reviewed the wrong establishment. Since I don’t know how to delete a review, this will be my place holder until I am able to visit this restaurant. Haa haa, I finally have been able to visit this establishment. I decided to try their Shrimp Pad Thai for take out. To be honest it was just okay. In the positives, they game an obscene amount of food and the person that helped me was funny and helped me with my extra condiments. You’d think that would be enough to say high five 5 stars, but the food was semi-bland. They gave wayyyyyyy too many noodles and not enough other stuff to break up the flavor. I hate to say it because I only tried one entrée; but, I will not visit this place again unless someone else wants to try it on their own whim. I just wasn’t impressed enough to go back for another take out round or recommend this place to someone.

Violent Monezuma’s revenge x 5. Like your body had an argument with God and lost. Omg…one trip to the potty then a few steps taken and my bowels dance down my leg. I am hostage to the porcelain queen. I’ve become a baby bowel movement, watery, stinky stinky mess… and I’m not an infant. Nightmare! Retreat. Or grab a depends to gather the poo as its liquid and will ooze from you like water… Disgusted…this was after the meal. Our dining experience was so so. Service was super slow though the restaurant wasn’t busy. All FIVE of my friends have the same violent diaherrea…

This is the first time I’ve been to Thai Spice and not ordered pad thai — hooray for branching out! Side note: their pad thai is good; portions are gigantic. It’s $ 10.50 with chicken. Yes, I’ve ordered it *that* many times. Anyway, I came here with my family since we live about 3 minutes away and wanted something fast. Service is pretty brusque, but it’s to be expected of an Asian restaurant. This particular night I ordered crispy tilapia, which is served under eggplant and a chile sauce. The fish doesn’t get soggy, and the eggplant wasn’t complete mush — all good points! The dish isn’t overly spicy, but the burn is very gradual. towards the end of my meal, I was sniffing from the spiciness, and fortunately, one of the food runners was great in keeping our water glasses refilled. As with most of the dishes here, the portion size was pretty big — I brought my leftovers home, supplemented with homemade stirfry green beans, and it was still good! Not fishy at all, which was very pleasantly surprising. I tasted my mom’s snapper dish, and it was just as good as mine. My sister ordered the green curry, which was much spicier than mine. Also pretty good! I think Thai Spice is a pretty well-run Houston chain. The Heights one is just so darn convenient that I know I can come here and enjoy my food, whether it be dine-in or takeout.

My parents love it here. Crispy Tilapia: My favorite, absolute favorite. Crispy tilapia comes with eggplant, bell peppers, mushrooms, drenched in the most amazing sauce ever. They cook the fish separately from the sauce to make sure it is still crispy and not drowning and soggy. I usually get lunch portions, but for this dish, I get the regular portion because I’d rather have all of this than smaller portions with other stuff. Pad Thai: Flavorful, fresh sprouts, AND they took off the peanuts because I’m deathly allergic to them. Green Curry: we always get it with scallops. And even with that, it never tastes fishy which means they’re cooking it well because scallops easily give fishy smells. Not too many restaurants offer the scallops options, so this is definitely refreshing.

I have always wanted to try this place and we finally got to this past weekend. I love spicy food and was drawn by the word«spice» in the title and the giant cayenne pepper depicted in their logo. We decided on lo mein and sushi. The lo mein was not particularly spicy and needed some doctoring up with the provided table spices. The sushi was the typical selection you would find in any modern sushi joint… nothing special, and nothing inordinately spicy, even on the rolls that advertised specifically that they were more spicy. Everything was ok, but nothing was memorable. We also had an issue with the server. He spoke very little English… it was very difficult to communicate with him and we had to finally just accept that he couldn’t understand us. For instance, we like to order a half water, half sprite for our kids to limit sugar intake… well, he just couldn’t understand this. He brought out all kinds of things, none of which were what we were trying to order… BOTTOMLINE: Typical sushi joint. Nothing special.
