This place used to be so good! Im not sure what happened. They are only good for the drinks!

Please spare yourself and go to Taco Bell instead. I got tacos, my daughter got kids quesadillas and my dad got a sampler plate of sorts. Nevermind that it took the entire duration of the meal to get corn tortillas. Or that my 6 year old disapproved of their cheese quesadilla. Or that my dad’s plate somehow managed to come out burnt AND cold. What earned the star for them was the absolute lack of customer service and just grotesque quality of food that they serve. I watched the waitresses sit and play on their phones while i tried to get the check and the beef in the tacos were more gristle and fat than beef. The restaurant was empty(two other small tables in addition to mine) and the service was astoundingly awful. Skip the taqueria… drive a bit further and get a crunchy taco meal from Taco Bell instead… you’ll thank me later.

This is normally my stop for some«almuerzo» during the weekends, nothing better than some delicious gorditas or a very hot menudo to bring me back to life(micheladas are also really good). I notice some changes in the management and the place starts to look better now days. They also have a place next door to host weddings, quinceanheras and I was offer good deals if I do some business reunions there with them. Thumbs up for good food and really affordable prices. Services is not too bad, but I eat out a lot and even in high end restaurants services can get crappy. Overall a good place to go and relax with friends and family.

This used to be the Hangout spot back in the days. But times have changed and so has my taste for food. The food was lacking quality and flavor. Tortillas were half way cooked, chicken needed some more seasoning, and the beef fajitas… Well the beef fajitas were far from being beef fajitas. They have reasonable prices on their food, and the waitress was really attentive which is why I gave this place 3 stars. You get what you pay for, so I wasn’t expecting anything great.

This place is good I’ve been going for a long time. But the people there hate us and they’re kind of rude but they are usually open. And the food is half decent so its OK lol

This place isn’t half bad. The food really is all Tex-Mex and the price is fairly cheap during lunch! I ordered the chicken enchiladas that came with beans and rice for only about $ 6(though I ended up ordering the dinner portion for around $ 7.50 which comes with three enchiladas). The food was hot, cheesy, messy, and delicious! Also, the chips and salsa it came with was good. The salsa was hot(temperature wise) and the chips tasted like they were made fresh. Awesome awesome awesome! It’s tex-mex. It’s not the best but for tex-mex it hits the spot. Overall with tip I paid $ 10.

Enchiladas were not good. Stick to other parts of the menu I guess.

This place used to be really great. Maybe they changed managers or something, but ever since they extended the hours and started putting apologetic signs near the register, upon the last couple of visits the food and service is not what it used to be.

Stopped in for lunch/snack before a friends wedding and wow what great food for little money. I had 3 tacos(pastor, lengua, babarcoa) washed it down with a mexican coke and it was only $ 6.50. The wife had the babarcoa burrito and it was awesome along with a tasty orchata as suggested by other reviewers. This is a small hole in the wall off of veterans memorial the service was very good and fast. Definitely planning on coming back for more but I’m thinking a little tequila or a beer next time might hit the spot just right on a Saturday afternoon.

NOWOPEN24 hours on weekends! Remember prior to entering the working world when you couldn’t afford eating at nice places, so you’d hit up the local cheap eats with the homies??? Tex Mex was where it was at!!! Man. I ate here often during high school and through college. I recently came back this past weekend with my sister and i kept saying, «oooOOOOOh man! Goood shiiiieeett all up in my mouth!!» :) Must eats: 1. Barbacoa BURRITO(request less refried beans for + barbacoa) 2. Lengua TACO(cow tongue) w/a twist of limon 3. Fajita GORDITA — i like the crisp texture + fajita meat is marinated so well, great flavor! Drink: 1. Horchata (-) Make sure they get your order right, what they write down for you order may not always come out the same. Also, check if you are getting billed correctly. I think they’re organization/management isn’t up to par but the food is good nonetheless.

(4.5 Stars) Consistently good Tex-Mex food. Place is always loaded with hispanic people so you know that has to be at least decent mexican food. Weekends nights are very busy with a live band and are probably the only time you might have to wait to get a table. They recently remodeled their store on the outside(Veteran’s Blvd. store) and inside as well which upgraded itself from the worn old restaurant it was before. The first impression of any mexican place is their salsa and chips. I’ll have to admit their free appetizer have the best crisped tortilla chips, and a great fresh tasting salsa that I prefer than all the other restaurants I have tried thus far. Their burritos are huge and will feed two people, or one really hungry person(ala me). The enchiladas are extra gooey with cheese or loaded with meat, and their chile con carne topping the tamales or other dishes are respectable as well. The tamarind and horchata drinks are both suck-till-there’s no more good. Their queso is also light and yummy, not super thick that makes you wanna throw up like some places. I’m a fan of their large and well-mixed menu serving everything from typical Tex-Mex fare, to more hard to find dishes like cactus plates, or mexican seafood choices. I visit this place most of the trips to Houston I take, usually after I’ve had my fill of Jolynn’s for days straight. It was introduced to me by some friends, and I thank them for doing so. I’m a fan of mom-pop places over chain food places anyday since I grew up working in one. I was surprised there were no reviews of this place on Unilocal.=)
