Got a chicken from here, it was a Brown hen. I paid 12.50 for a young one, old Brown hen is $ 8. I have no experience buying live chicken but a Mexican lady and Asian dude dude were really into the Brown hens so I got one. Dude comes out with his chicken leg grabber and yanks the hen up into his hand. You go back inside and wait. You hear the chicken take her last cluck but you don’t see the bloody end. 15 mins later I get a bag of medium chopped up chicken parts, still warm too. I wanted that size for a curry the med chop was on point. Why the loss of stars? Well lack of English speaking employees made it hard to get info on chickens. I had to just follow what others were doing. I also thought the chicken was tough. It’s looked great in the bag and pot not tasty though. If you know chickens they got like six kinds. I will research on my own and try again.

This place sucks. Why I’m saying this because the people working there don’t serve in order, they only serve customer who give tips to them first. I was there to buy some chicken and eggs. It took me over an hour to get two roosters and a tray of eggs while other customer came after me got to get what they want. If I don’t want to wait for that long then just leave unless I give them tips. I never come back. Their business won’t last long!

You pick the bird, they’ll pluck it. Or skin and remove the fur if it’s a rabbit… or burn the hair off if it’s a goat. If you want fresh meat, this is the place to go. It’s not quite a farm, but its close and just on the outskirts of the city of Houston(probably why it’s allowed in the first place). Take your kids, to show them(kinda) where their food comes from. Meat does not come from saran wrapped packages at the grocery store! You will be amazed by the difference in texture that freshly killed animal has versus the texture of that frozen stuff you get at the store. It’s much more firm and better tasting than the mushy mealy texture you get from frozen ones. If you get a goat, you’ll probably wanna go in on it several people… I think they’re like 80lbs or so. So its quite a bit of meat. They’ll gut it and cut it down to more manageable pieces for you. It’s more expensive for the meat here, but it’s fresh and the quality is definitely better.
