Ive been coming here for 3 years now, before this one I used to go to the long point location, but they changed owners as well as their taste, So I decided to try this location and it was really good, I have tasted almost everything and have never been disappointed, their salsa is the best and they have handmade tortillas which is also really good. If you are coming here as a first timer try Tacos de trompo, and flautas which are my favorites. I do want to give an advice, your enchiladas are good but I want to suggest that you try them with grated cheese rather than cheese crumbs. So «queso rallado» please. Because the crumbs fall off and you eat a piece of tortilla without any cheese. Other than that keep the good work, my family know the owners so they are also very nice and always ask us if everything is good. Our waiter is always the same guy who is also very nice. Thank you.

Breakfast tacos aren’t good dont know why they say hand made tortillas when they clearly are not

Food was good… Not great. 3 stars because of service. Didn’t really care for the potatoes that came with my chicken flautas plate. The server was either having a bad day or simply rude. The tacos de Trompo were decent.

My husband and I ordered steak & babarcoa tacos here. I always like flour tacos more than corn ones but I have to say this was the best corn taco I ever had so far, it was warm and moist. The meat was good, I liked the flavor of babarcoa over the steak, it was even better with tomatillo sauce. Will come back again

I came here because of the reviews, me and my gal was expecting some great quality service and food. But turned out the other way around. Instead of chips & salsa, they gave us bean soup. It was pretty good, but be better with some chips to dip in. The waiter messed up the order, my gal asked for specific taco & said, «where’s the avocado & cheese?» He said that she needed to order the special taco. Well turned out he put the wrong item, no wonder it didn’t come with avocado & cheese. It’s just better going to a real Mexican taco stand.

Great taco place in Houston, almost as good as real mexican tacos the charro beans are great, the tacos al pastor are missing the traditional pineapple they should be served with, but they’re fine and thaaaaanks for the extra limes for the tacos! Free beer is an excelent plus! Only thing I didn’t like was the chicken soup I ordered for my toddler it had no chicken and very few vegetables please improve that! Otherwise than that I loved the place

I first came here a couple days ago around 6 – 7 to satisfy my major Mexican food craving. This restaurant is in an old strip center next to the 99¢ store. While the outside looked sketchy, I came in anyway because of the good reviews. The workers were pretty friendly. I sat down & looked at the menu for a couple minutes. Everything on the menu is relatively cheap; under $ 15 per person. They have a breakfast & a lunch menu, and drinks. I ordered 5 chicken flautas to go. Less than 10 minutes later I get my food. It was hot & tasted pretty good, but I found it needed quite a bit of salt. I’ll probably come back another time to try something different.

omg!!! the tacos here were off the hook!!! super fresh and super flavorful. so why not 5 stars? I thought it was a little pricey for my liking and we ordered to go and still waiting almost 20 minutes for a couple of tacos. The outside is a little scary looking but once you go inside its actually a nice little spot! I may be back; food was good but still pricey

The food was fairly good and so was the service. I had the beef tacos with melted cheese and avocados which were awesome and tastes really good especially with the sautéed onions(5⁄5). The flautas were ok(3.5) I liked how crunchy it was. What I didn’t like was the enchiladas verdes(1⁄5) the sour cream tastes weird and the description said that it would be fries but it wasn’t. I did like the rice that came with it but not the beans at all! They don’t have cheese and salsa dip :(that’s one star off. They gave us a bean soup instead with a bowl of chopped onions and cilantro which went good together. I don’t like how they have small selection for a restaurant they don’t have much food to offer. I also had pineapple juice which was good and the old man who seem to be in charge running the front and was serving me was really nice

Food is awesome but service is horrible!!! Waitress was very rude, I guess because I look white and my wife is Hispanic. I guess she didn’t like the fact I didn’t speak Spanish and my wife does. So she was very rude just towards me at the beginning then when I ask her«excuse me» she looked at me and ignored me then my wife said«disculpe» she looked at my wife and walked away and ignored her too! Worse service I have ever had in my life! This had never happened to me in my 26 yrs of life!!!

Certainly not the usual Taco place! Loved the food, the waiter didn’t speak good English and apologized to me about it. Not nessasary, but very sweet of him. I’m the one in a Mexican restaurant :) then he gave me some gum with my check. Maybe that was a hint I have bad breath… Who knows but he was pleasant and I will return for both the service and food. It was by far some of the best Mexican food I’ve had in a restaurant.

I’m a foodie… I think we all are but I’m ALWAYS on the search for new places to roll across my good olé #1 Unilocaling tool, MYTONGUE! I searched for tacos and TdJ popped up in my bookmarks. I read Shawn S.’ review and checked the website for a coupon. Sure enough, $ 1 gets you some flavored drink(I chose lemonade), charro beans(which you already get from the door) and a brisket taco. Seriously, one buck! The taco was absolutely delicious, tender meat… cheese…definite winner. Print that coupon for sure!!! My coworker and I split the chicken flautas as we weren’t far from feeling satisfied after the beans and tacos. I have to say the guacamole on those flautas were utterly disgusting. I really cannot comprehend how a mexican restaurant can funk up guac but TdJ definitely does… they lose a star for that BS, seriously! Once scrapped off my flautas, they were pretty good though. They are served with grilled potatoes which were good but could be cooked a smidgen longer for extra tenderness imo. The service here was great, didn’t have any problem communicating with the waitress at all. Definitely return worthy!

I’ve only tried their tamales. I get a few dozen for parties and holidays. Usually pork. They’re good and guests love them. If you end up with a lot of leftovers they freeze and reheat nicely too.

Close to our home, we love this place. Love getting the charro beans right up front in stead of the norm chips and salsa. However I wish they did also serve chips and salsa. Great food.

We went for breakfast. The staff speak little to no English but they were attentive and nice. The menu is all in Spanish just FYI. the pictures help for non Spanish speakers/readers. Btw they dont give you chips and salsa. The flour tortillas were homemade. Thumbs up The give you charro beans to start before you order food with fresh chopped limes, onions and cilantro. The horchata needed a little more cinnamon for my liking. Overall a pleasant experience. I got the huevos rancheros plate it came with bland refried beans and potatoes. I did appreciate the waitress asking how I liked my eggs. The hubby got steak tacos it had cheese and fresh guacamole(street taco/quesadilla style). The meat tasted a little dry and tough. The 2 year old twins got Americano breakfast plates. $ 2.99 for 1 small pancake(fluffy and tasty) 1 slice bacon(thick slice) 1 egg.

Came back for more tacos and dined in. Got the normal service, 2 salsas, lemons, cilantro and onions, and charro beans. Those beans, sweet Jesus. I could drink the broth and be a-ok. Just wonderful, all over again. Wish I could buy stock I this place.

Attention: This is not tex-mex! You want tex-mex go somewhere else, you want Mexican cuisine, then welcome aboard. Now I know that there are a few of these sprinkled throughout houston but this is the only one i have tried. Located in a seedy strip center next to a .99 cent store, the outside looks suspect but go ahead and step on in! The interior is clean and has a few TV’s and is well lit. The service is excellent! Prices recently went up about .50 cents per dish but still in my frugal budget range. When you sit down you are served charro beans, wait now these beans are freaking awesome!!! I usually ask for two extra servings before I order. I usually get the flautas and these are probably some of the best I’ve had since living in Houston. Definitely if you’re in the area make a stop. Oh and check out the website, the have a $ 1 promotion deal going!
