Was really sad to see this Taco Cabana close. My favorite thing was to go and get the super nachos. It comes with everything and is ginormous. I also love their condiment/salsa bar. This location would keep it very clean and updated. It’s more authentic than taco bell and the happy hour margaritas are a steal.

FYI, this location is now closed. They were never really super busy so, I guess that’s why they shuttered this place… There was a general inattentiveness by the staff and usually a long wait. It was a good late night, last minute dinner spot, though.

The levitating breakfast taco princess would be mighty upset at this Taco Cabana location. Set amidst fast food row on Richmond with Taco Bell, Burger King, McDonalds, and Kolache Factory all a stone’s throw away sits this bright pink siren that calls out to you on the way to your new shiny office … «breakfast tacos and a nice cold soda are so fetch, this being the day we wear pink, the day you know as Wednesday.» I listened to the levitating breakfast taco princess and decided to reward myself with breakfast tacos and soda. However the sordid failure began when the worker was having trouble hearing my order and I had to repeat it three times, which quadrupled my hungry frustrations. The soda was the next problem. I came here for some Diet Dr. Pepper and to write a one star Unilocal review, and they were all out of Diet Dr. Pepper that was crisp, I am all out of bubblegum, so all that will remain is this one star review that gives no quarter. But they had plenty of flat Diet Dr. Pepper. Why do Taco Cabs(will this nickname catch on???) on this southwest side of town area not take any reasonable care to check their soda machines when they see me coming? This flatness made me most unhappy, angry, and unfulfilled. I need a moment … Changing up my usual routine because I was watching a lot of Paula Deen at the gym instead of just the tail end of the program, I was reminded that my Bacon consumption has dipped dangerously low recently. So I skipped the egg and potato portion of the menu and went with twin Bacon and egg tacos and the chubby hubby nouveau riche foodie’s favorite part of the morning: steak! and egg breakfast taco. Bacon and egg breakfast taco party of the first part: monster length size Bacon sticking out of both ends of the taco but thinner than a pencil. I think Paula Deen would backhand whoever was responsible for producing this from the reject slop bucket of oddly proportioned Bacon strips from a likely ugly and stupid pig raised by an even dumber and uglier Southern farmer down in Dixie and slaughtered by an even dumber and uglier family member of his. The egg and tortilla have less complaints attached to them. Bacon and egg breakfast taco party of the second part: there were less eggs in this one so the tortilla seemed oddly large and cavernous, like a big circus tent to cover a tiny little puppy sitting on a tiny little footstool. I had so much tilla left over I could have made an edible hat or used it to draft some edible pleadings with mustard and relish, occasionally some Taco Bell Fire Sauce when I needed to use some bold and exclamy exclamation marks. The Bacon in this one was not produced from the same reject bin as the other. The steak and egg breakfast: this was tasty. The steak was perfectly flavorful and not burned. There was a lot of it. It completely filled out the tilla and there was more steak than egg. This rounded out an otherwise awful experience … because I really like breakfast tacos. A lot. A whole lot.

Meh is the general reaction your mind has upon having this nondescript version of Mexican flavored grub. Nothing special. I wish I could make this review 2 ½ stars, as they are on the cusp of three stars, but just not quite. Spend your money elsewhere at one of the many other excellent Mexican restaurants in Houston.

i’ve always wanted to try this place, and i’m glad i finally got the chance. i got a 3 pack of street tacos, which come on corn tortillas with beef. they’re not nearly as good as authentic dirty taco truck tacos, but they’re not bad. the onions they top off the meat with looked like they were chopped last tuesday or something. i like how there’s lots of different sauces you can choose from and take home as much as your greedy heart desires :3 they also have strawberry fanta(awesome), which an extremely weird friend taught me to mix with lemonade… not bad!

Taco Cabana is fast food. That being said it’s a better class of fast food than something like Taco Bell. But still you get what you pay for. This isn’t going to be the best thing you’ve ever eaten. I really enjoy their potato and egg breakfast tacos. The fajita tacos are also good. I stay away from their enchiladas and burritos, etc. Because they usually are kind of sloppy and not very tasty. The salsa bar is always good, with fresh cilantro and various salsas, and condiments. The coffee is horrid, yet I keep ordering it…

This was the first place I ate in Houston. My roommate and I had just finished buying some essentials at Wal-mart and I was feeling like something Mexican-ish, so we tried this place. I did not realize that it was fast food, and not sit-down. I ordered a taco and enchilada meal, I believe. It was not bad. The thing I enjoyed the most was the salsa and toppings bar, complete with cilantro. I thought this was an amazing addition to a fast food place! Everything was going just fine until a strange man walked up to our table and would not leave us alone. He determined that my brand-new roommate and I were best friends and that with the three of us in bed together, he would not know whom to choose. Lucky for him, he will not ever have the opportunity to have to make such an agonizing decision. Unluckily for us, he chose to bother both of us at our first Taco Cabana visit. I will likely visit another Taco Cabana, but I’m a little weary of this one now after my «welcome» to Houston.

I used to have Taco Cabana a lot a few years back. After a night out dancing, this would our destination. It helped that they were one of the only places open late. I actually used to go to one in the Heights(same difference). Last night I was watching movies and realized that due to my moving out this month, all my stuff is packed and there is nothing in my fridge. I decided to go out for a drive and see what I could find. I was driving down Richmond and saw a Venezuelan restaurant but thought I would have to wait a long time for the food to be prepared, I wanted something fast. A few blocks later I saw Taco Cabana. I ordered chicken fajitas. The order comes with rice, beans, guacamole, cheese and cabbage. I also ordered a lemonade. The food was ready in a matter of seconds from my reaching the window. My bill was about $ 11, a little pricey for fast food, but not for the quantity they give. I thought the food was very good, and being that I haven’t had them for years, it was good to know their food is still tasty!
