Swanny’s Bar & Grill

We went here on a Friday evening bc we wanted to go out to a place for the kids to run and play while my husband and I ate dinner. My 7yr old had a blast on the volleyball courts and the 2yr old had fun on the playground & playing in the sand. We ordered the crawfish ($ 7/​LB) and they were not very juicy or yummy, but edible. Blue water (just around the corner) has WAY better crawfish, but no where for the kids to play. We will go back to Swannys, but order something else. The service was fine for a busy Friday evening. The kids loved the place and already want to go back tonight! If you’re looking for a place to take the kids to play while you eat dinner or drink a beer give them a try! I would’ve given them a 5 star but not until I find something more delicious to eat.

We pass here all the time and the parking lot is always full so we decided to give it a try. We decided to try steak night as the first try. We decided to beat the rush and go at 6 pm.
We arrived and are greeted and seated. It seems the entire place is outdoor covered seating. A man was singing songs and playing guitar.
The 12 – 16 chefs choice rib eye is $ 18.99. One 4 ounce filet is $ 12.99 and two 4 ounce filet is $ 19.99.
Seems a bit pricey but we ordered the rib eye and the double filet.
We ordered a beer and a tea to go with. The tea took about 10 minutes to arrive and the beer another 4 after that.
We ordered our meals when the beer came. On the plus side they order on tablets which I believe helps avoid errors and gets your ticket to the kitchen quickly.
We didn’t order an appetizer as we figured the attacks which come with veggie and potato would be enough.
52 minutes later our two steak meals came out. There were maybe a maximum 7 other tables there at the time we ordered (and at minimum 5 waitstaff and a bartender and some manager type guy).
The steaks finally arrive –yay! I had to ask twice for steak knives though. I got up to get my own steak sauce because I got tired of waiting. We also had to ask for a tea refill twice.
The rib eye was cooked correctly, but just barely. My medium rare was medium at best.
I didn’t send it back as I couldn’t wait another hour for a steak.
The flavor of the steaks were good, but mine wasn’t cooked correctly, the price was a bit high for the quality, the heat (and the flies) and the poor service… they won’t see us again.
Unless you really need a play ground for your kids while you eat or love golf so much that you are willing to pay for it… Go somewhere else.

Love this place It has been my go to for Tuesday night Volleyball. If Volleyball or Golf is not your thing, they have lots of other activities to keep you occupied. Plus the Food and drink ar great.

Love this place, good food and fun for kids! The service is pretty good, and the atmosphere is awesome!

I am done with this place. We have visited here multiple times over that past couple of years, and the only thing that has brought us back is that it’s a great place to bring our kids. They have a great time playing, which is why I even gave it one star. The absolute number one complaint I have is the service. It doesn’t matter what time of day or week you visit, whether the restaurant is dead or packed, the service is consistently awful. Yesterday, we sat ourselves (there was no hostess), had to go on the hunt for menus (borrowed one from a guy at the bar) then had to flag down a server who seemed annoyed with us the entire time. Orders are consistently wrong or incomplete, and take an eternity to arrive. Yesterday we waited an hour for burgers and fries. If Swanny’s could greatly improve their service, they could be killing it. Until then, I’ll be dining elsewhere.

I really like the set up and distance from my house, but the service is subpar. This place can really be a great place but I think their service is holding them back. Could be great for family, happy hour, and watching game

Let me start by saying I like to set up but the service is horrible. I had reservations for the Valentine’s Day special dinner I got to my reservation on time and got sat down pretty fast. Everything else went downhill from here. 45 minutes into my reservation I finally get my drinks I asked where are the appetizers I ordered. The excuse was everyone must put the order in at the same time. I asked to speak to the manager and I explained my concern to her she was a little help the only thing she said it’s a very busy night service is out the window I can give you your money back if you like. I believe they’re just too busy to give you good service so I will leave this review if you want service great service this is not the place!

I’ll start by saying I really like this place. Like the setup, like the food, like the atmosphere. The service is absolutely terrible. Never been to a restaurant with worse service. It’s sad too cause this place has so much potential.

This is a great fun place in an area of town that is seriously lacking in non chain restaurants. The food is definitely not gourmet but the food is solid and well made easy and family friendly food. The prices are reasonable. They have a kiddie sand box and playground. The adults enjoyed the patio side tables with bar service. The queso, pork sliders and burgers were all well prepared and reasonably priced. We will definitely be back especially now that the weather is perfect and sitting outdoors is top of the list!

We moved to Houston 4 years ago and we’re excited to have an open air outside place to enjoy. Once we heard about the sand volleyball courts we were even more excited! The concept and atmosphere are spot on. Great live music and close to home. We heard the sand volleyball courts were now open and we were very excited and gathered a group of 15 to join us out for some Friday fun! Our server obviously had no proper training as she would take 1 order from the 15 of us and then walk away to ring in the order. Our buckets of beer sat on the bar until we got up and brought them to our table. Everyone ordered food (appetizers) which took over an hour and some never even showed up. I have never met the owner before, yet suddenly he was up with the band playing tambourine. I was quite shocked at that point that as a restaurant owner you see you staff on a busy Friday night running around like chickens with their heads cut off rather than helping them. They represent him and his establishment! I got up and
walked over to tell him my concerns. He came over to our table and my husband and I were trying to give constructive criticism to him. And mind you 3 of the people at our table have been in restaurant management and 4 of the young kids with us still work in the service industry at near by local restaurants. The owner basically asked why I come back if I’ve had previously slow service, which I said we had in the past and asked if I could run his place better to put an application in. After that he walked over to the table he was apparently drinking with. He grabbed a beer, stood up and proceeded to talk about us to his table, pointing and making gestures, then with hand signals shooing us out. So very unprofessional but no doubt his staff felt the sting on our bills. Shame on you sir!

Worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. Went on a Friday night with a group of friends. It was very crowded because of 2 large groups, so I expected a wait. I did not expect to be there 1 ½ hours and still no food. Service was awful. Finally place an order and waited… and waited… and waited. Waiter kept telling us our order was cooking and would be out soon. He came by again and said 5 minutes. We waited another 15 minutes and then told them to cancel our order. On the way out, the owner (I assume) wanted to get in a confrontation with me and said the waiter never told us 5 minutes, etc. He then asked for my name, as if to put on his hit list. Would never go back there even though I’m within a block of the location twice a week. Bad service and even worse customer service. STAY AWAY unless you have a day to kill!

I came here for the first time with my boyfriend (witch loves this place for the golf), my daughter, another couple and thier daughter. At first they told us there was going to be a wait witch was just fine and understandable. When she told us our table was ready we were lead to the attic (witch did have tables) but they did not even have the lights turned on and we were the only ones up there. I had the server tell me that he didn’t even know that there were tables up there! I requested to wait outside untill another table became avaliable. When they finally sat us with the rest of the crowd i tought everything was going to be fine, but man i was wrong. I ordered the turkey burger witch was supposed to come with grilled onions, alvocato and swiss cheese. After an hour of waiting i did not revice what i had ordered, i got a regular hamburger with lettuce tomatoes and pickles. Since i was so hungry i went ahead and ate it. When i was ready for a refill on my drink and the check my waitress had disappeared. I swear we waited around for an hour before spotting her again! I was really hoping i could make this place a regular spot for us but i will not be coming back.

Great place for families. Food good. Run by a really nice family!

Pulled pork sliders were excellent and the green beans for the side was a solid decision. Had a burger last time that was phenomenal too. Come for the golf, stay for the food and a cold beer!

Came here for lunch with a friend. Our kids played on the playset and sand box. They are their kid meal burgers which looked delicious! The fries were really good, I had a con salad no cheese, croutons with grilled chicken. Waiter accidentally brought it with fried chicken. I told him I have good allergies. Very nicely he took it away came back with a fresh delicious salad with grilled chicken. Our server was so attentive it was almost to much. My ice tea was always full and when we left set me up with a to go cup. I look forward to dining here again. I plan on going on A Friday night j hear they have live bands I need kid friendly places where I can enjoy myself too! Food great, service great loved the casual atmosphere. I hear winter time is cozy and nice too.

Brought my girlfriend here for a nice lunch, the service was a bit slow even on a slow day (can only imagine how it is packed). The décor was average, there’s a nice playground area for kids, clean tables and bar. Food came out in a timely matter, I order the Texas turkey burger with side of mash potatoes; the food tasted amazing the patty was well seasoned, veggies fresh, burger not too soggy/​greasy, and the mash potatoes tasted fresh but a bit dry. Overall great delicious affordable food, friendly decent service, and fun atmosphere.
TL;DR — Wanna play golf or explore local/​hidden restaurant try Swanny

We visited on a Friday evening after hitting golf balls. We ordered drinks and chips/​salsa/​queso, they came out in a timely manner. After that service went downhill. Our second round of drinks never came and the manager came over and made sure we got our beers.
Food finally came out and there was a hair in the bf’s sandwich and my side order of onion rings never came out.
Our server was absolutely awful, upon notifying her of missing side item she acted as if she never heard me the first time but said she would bring some right out.
I saw the order of onions rings being offered to another table, they declined saying they didn’t order them. They went back inside and 10 minutes later our server came back trying to give me the now old order. We had already finished the rest of our food so I told her I no longer wanted them, please give us the check. 10 minutes go by, nothing, so I get up and grab the nearest server who turned out to be the manager that night, briefly told her our story and let her know we just wanted to leave, can we please pay and go. She came back and comped our entire meal. Which was nice considering everything we had just experienced, but I was really hoping this place would be our new go-​to spot since we live ¼ mile down the road.
As far as the food goes: queso and salsa were just mediocre, french fries were good and crispy, bf had the buffalo chicken sandwich, which he said was tasty, but I would not try it considering the hair. I had the pulled pork quesadillas which I thought were decent but the bf compared them to dog food.
They also had live music (which was just a guy and his acoustic guitar) but he was pretty fun and sang a lot of Jimmy Buffet songs!

This place is great and getting better all the time. They have expanded the menu so it is not just bar food anymore. The renovations they have done are great and with the playground area, kids and adults alike are happy to be there! It would be nice to see a coupe of real vegetarian options added to the menu… fish tacos or a portobello burger. Super fun place for a larger group!
