I love Star Pizza, although this last experience was just okay. I’d only been to their Montrose location before, but this place was pretty packed for their lunch buffet on a weekday. The pizzas are smaller, but still pretty good; I gave them 3 stars because it seemed like their output of pizzas didn’t match with their number of customers for lunch rush, so it’s possible to come in and have few pizzas(and few pieces) to choose from if you decide to opt for the lunch buffet. The salad options are good as well. I’ll definitely come here again in the future, but maybe a little earlier or later to see if the pizza options are more generous or just order a pizza off their menu instead.

THEBESTPIZZAINHOUSTON. This place is down the street from me(deadly) and is absolutely the best pizza I’ve had anywhere. I’ve made the journey to the Star 1 location, and honestly my food tasted better at 2 for some reason. Plenty of seating. Great for 1 on 1 dates, or big groups. All my buds even took me here for my birthday! Brought a cake from Three Brothers down the street(go get that sweet tooth in) and the staff was so accommodating. Put together tables for us and even offered to put the cake in the fridge in the back while we ate. Brought it back out to us when we were ready WITHTHECANDLESLIT! Great place, amazing food. GETTHESTARBURST, BEN’S, ORCHICKENALFREDO.

People aren’t extremely friendly and pizza isn’t consistent but when it’s good its great. I ordered to go once and when I got home I had to pop it in the oven to finish baking it, not cool. I’ve been at the restaurant and had melt in your mouth delicious pizza. I feel like for the price it should be good every time, not just sometimes. Maybe I’ll come back when quality is more of a concern here.

I just placed an order for delivery so I figured I would pop in and drop a review. After moving to town a couple weeks ago from Los Angeles, I was looking for a good hearty pizza spot without much luck. The list of pie parlors my building gave me ran short with no pleasant surprises, just a bunch of basic sauce and cheese thrown on rather dense dough. Then I gave Star a call and the guy offered me hand tossed or deep dish. Being 7 years since I was in Chicago and not having this delicacy in LA, I took him up on it and have already gone back twice. The hand tossed makes it a portable meal without sacrificing flavor so I have to give both styles a 5⁄5 star rating. The delivery is not 15 minutes or less, thankfully. That’s how I know it’s made fresh for me and it’s always worth the half hour.

Went to Star Pizza last night and unfortunately, food and service was very sub-par. Pizza had no taste to it as sauce was left off the pie. Pizza was removed by the waiter and we were not done with our meal, buddy of mine had to chase the guy down. Had to explain to three different persons the situation, finally after this exasperating situation, meal was comp’d. Won’t be going back!!!

Best pizza joint experience since I moved to Houston from New Jersey. I ordered the small Chicago style Salsa verde and it was absolutely delicious!!! Flavorful cheesy goodness freshly baked to perfection. I highly recommend!(Gluten free friendly)

A very homelike environment with awesome waiters! Deep dish or Chicago style either way you go the pizza is delicious. I prefer going with the Wheat crust myself. Since these guys are so cool Saint Arnold’s trapeze Divine Reserve and Bishop Barrel craft beers here. If you want some pizza that isn’t your ordinary pizza hut or dominos this is the place to be!

Very good pizza! I love the 8 inch personal size pizza, it’s the perfect amount for one person. I love the amount of toppings they have to offer, as well as the whole wheat crust.

Note: This review is for take-out only. Dine-in review to be added in the near future. Star Pizza is awesome. There’s a reason why they have two locations only a few miles from each other in the inner loop! I’ve been here quite a few times in the past(during my pre-Yelp days), but most recently came back for take-out pizza to enjoy a chill night at home. While the sit-down experience here is top-notch, does the take-out experience compare? Being deprived of Star Pizza for so long, I went to their bread n’ butter: the Starburst pizza on a 12-inch, deep-dish, whole wheat crust of deliciousness. If you’re coming to Star Pizza for the first time and feel overwhelmed by the fairly large menu, get the Starburst pizza – as long as you’re not a vegetarian. It’s got more than enough meat to satisfy your post-workout hunger and just enough veggies to justify your existence, if the wheat crust option just wasn’t good enough for ya. From phone call to pick-up-ready, it took a solid 30 minutes that seemed to go by pretty fast, and getting in and out of the restaurant with my pie took all but 10 seconds. The pizza was great; however, the bottom crust was soft and soggy out of the box, which I definitely do not remember happening at all when I dined-in. My guess is it is probably a result of using a soft-ish cardboard box for a straight-out-of-the-oven pizza, where the high heat, moisture, and closed container softened the pie after a short period of time(not sure why this doesn’t happen at all with Pizza Hut, though?). Sauce was definitely dripping out of the box by the time I got back, and the pizza went straight into the oven for a toasted, crunchier crust. Maybe I ran a few minutes late picking up or maybe it was that particular pizza itself, but either way, just a WORDOFWARNING for those going with the take-out/delivery options: this might happen! The«soft» pizza wasn’t a deal-breaker at all, and it still tasted just as delicious. I’d recommend dining in on your first visit(s), and using the take-out/delivery options sparingly.

Got hungry during my weekly training ride so my friends and I decided to just bike here. It was sort of cold so we had the entire patio to ourselves and our herd of bikes. The parking situation here didn’t look so bad either. Service: Pretty darn attentive in my opinion. Our waiter came out every once in awhile with a pitcher to refill our waters and just check to see if we needed anything. The food does take some time to cook but honestly given the quality, i’d say it’s worth the wait. Food: Since we were going to have to ride back to our starting point in East Downtown, we decided not to order TOO much. We ordered 2 pies between the 7 of us and were all pretty satisfied. We ordered the Starburst Chicago Style, which is basically their supreme pizza and then a half cheese, half pepperoni NY style. Not a huge fan of supreme pizza so I only had a nibble of the Starburst but honestly, it wasn’t a bad bite at all. Everyone seemed to really enjoy it and the crust was good! The NY style pizza was just alright. I’m a pretty simple gal when it comes to my pizza and really only like cheese and mushrooms. Wish the crust was just a tiny bit crispier personally. Will definitely be back to try out some of the other specialty pizzas to see if I can’t narrow down a specific deep dish I’d be willing to drive/bike across town for.

The hand-tossed pizza here needs some work. I can’t stand pizzas made with corn meal, and I also generally dislike pizza cooked on a screen and baked in a conveyor oven. This is the shit that Domino’s does, which put their hand-tossed pie in the fast food/chain category, fresh ingredients aside. The Chicago style pizza is another story though. Unlike a hand-tossed pizza, it’s cooked in a pan and the oven style is not an issue. So we ordered the star burst, and I was highly impressed. The contrast between the two was unreal. Had we only ordered the hand-tossed Hank, I probably would have dropped a 1 star review on this place. Thank goodness we got one of each! So in conclusion, excellent ingredients, fast delivery and absolutely delicious Chicago-style pizza.

I love this place!!! I’m not usually a pizza person, mainly because I don’t like the cheese and the sauce on it. One time we had star pizza at the office, they ordered an all vegetable(spinach, mushroom and basil). I was a little sad because I don’t usually eat pizza and to have all vegetable on them makes it even more disappointing for me. Anyway, it was actually not bad. The crust, cheese and topping blended so nicely together. Not too much sauce or cheese on the pizza. Ever since then I’ve been ordering pizza from them. Recently, I had the focaccia pizza created your own toping which I choose pineapple, mushroom and chicken. I’ve never been inside star pizza, only had delivery, usually take about 30 minute to an hour. I live closed by and I see the place is always packed with cars from the outside. I have to say if I ever have a craving for pizza, this is the only place I’ll order from.

We consistently choose Star Pizza as our go to weekend cheat. The wheat crust is really good. We usually do the build your own pizza, which can get pricey(so be cautious on the toppings). They have really good Italian sausage and the portions are generous. We get delivery and it always arrives right at about an hour. We have also eaten at the restaurant and done take out orders at both locations, which didn’t disappoint. Salads are great and if you want a sandwich I highly recommended the Rosemary chicken with avocado; It’s pretty craveable.

It’s time for the BF and my weekly pizza and movie binge. The pizza made it to us in only 30 minutes in the busy Saturday time frame. We had a large ham and pineapple pizza and the crust needed another minute or two as it was almost TOO floppy where the cheese wanted to slide off. I don’t like burnt or overally crisp but it needs to hold up(especially since there were only 2 toppings). I added an extra side of sauce for dipping(1.50 $). They had plenty of speciality pizzas to try for people interested so + a star for the The sauce and toppings tasted great but was 20 $ for a simple 2 topping pizza that had its flaws is a few dollars steep. I’d probably order from here again just because houston is lacking in mind blowing pizza and there was nothing offensively wrong. I wish they would add online ordering !

Can’t ever go wrong with Star Pizza. Our favorite is a wheat crust Starburst(hand tossed) and the whole thing is always devoured. I like that we can also order Mexican Cokes to enjoy the meal. We have come here over several years, yet they have stayed pretty consistent in flavor and service, and we certainly appreciate that.

Hands down the best pizza in Houston! No two ways about it, this is it, the best. Star never disappoints, today was no exception. I got the house salad and a hand tossed Ben’s(ground beef, Italian sausage, ham and pepperoni). Cooked to perfection, crust not to chewy and not too crunchy and just the right amount of grease. Service was fantastic as always. This place rocks.

I went for for $ 10 lunch buffet today. They have a buffet of pizza and salad, and pasta salad. Everything is really good and fresh. They refill everything often. It’s a bit crowded and the set up is weird, but the line tends to go fast. Service was excellent! The hostess(young, brunette with tattoos) was rude, only complaint.

Very tasty pizza. Love the crusts on both the deep dish style and the New York style. My friend and I got two pizzas with half and half on them so we could try as much as possible. We had the Starburst and Joe’s on deep dish, and the Chicken Alfredo and the Margherita on New York style crust. Everything was fantastic. My favorites were the margherita and their most popular, the Starburst. They also have really cheap beer flights! You get 4, 5oz flights of your choice for $ 6.50. The environment is inviting and friendly, and it gives off a nice«family» type atmosphere. I think it would be a great place to take a big group of friends as well because the place is pretty spacious and they have long tables they can push together. All in all, very YUM!!!

Best pizza I’ve had in awhile! I highly recommend the Starburst pizza(deep dish style). I’ve never been one to like a ton of things on my pizza, but since our waiter said this is the number one pizza, I took a risk and tried it. Well worth it! Also had the chicken Alfredo, margarita, and joe pizza. The joe pizza was my least favorite and why it’s not a five star review. Too much spinach. Other than that, I had a beer flight along side of the pizza and was amazing. Definitely will be back!

My husband me I tried star pizza on a Friday night… A friend recommended this place however it was just ok… We had to wait a short time for our table. Our server was nice but nothing special it is a pizza place I asked what he recommended Chicago or New York style he said Chicago. It took a while for our pizza to come out which is fine because that tells me it’s fresh! The pizza looked great but the sauce was nothing special nor was the meat or dough. I will say they were very busy and the staff was super nice!

This hipster pizza chain is one of my favorite pizza places in Houston! Whether you want to sit in the retro and hipster interior or enjoy the outdoor patio, you are sure to have a good time over pizza at Star Pizza. Like other Star Pizza stores, you can order your pizza beforehand so you don’t have to wait when you sit down. If you didn’t do that, don’t fret and start with their appetizers like the garlic bread or the classic bread sticks(each order being around $ 5 – 7). Unless you are against it, I highly recommend getting the deep dish pizza here, because I have not found a place in Houston that makes a better deep dish than Star Pizza! If you do choose deep dish, choose a size smaller than what you usually get at other«shallow» pizza places; Star Pizza’s deep dish is REALLY deep. Even a small pizza($ 11 – 14 for speciality) between two will leave you completely filled! Hanging out, solo-ing, dating… There is always a good excuse to go for pizza and Star Pizza is a good place to do that!

It’s so hard to choose a favorite pizza place living in this area. I usually go through moods of where I order from the most, and right now that place is Star Pizza 2. I love their hand tossed white crust pizza. I’ll often order carry out. It’s usually ready for pick up 30 minutes after I call. I took away a star because there is no on-line ordering available and it can be difficult to get someone on the phone. I’m usually placed on hold and I’ve been hung up on more than once. Sometimes the staff isn’t the most friendly but it’s really good pizza… I’ve never dined in but it looks fun and they have other things on their menu besides pizza. Their cheesecake looks particularly delicious too but I’ve yet to splurge on that. Parking isn’t too bad and they have a couple spots designated for pick up. I’ve never had to wait too long for food and the restaurant doesn’t seem to get too crowded. Nice outdoor dining available as well.

This is the best pizza in Houston by far. To be honest their Chicago style deep dish is better than anything I’ve ever had in Chicago and I’ve had them all in Chicago. My favorite pizza is right here!

Love Star Pizza — one of my favorite pizza places. Ever. Joe’s(garlic and spinach), deep dish and wheat crust is my favorite — lots of cheese to balance out the veggies. Starburst(meat and veggies) is probably my second favorite. So good. I usually get my pizza to go, but they do have a place to eat inside, which is basically your standard pizza place eating accommodations. It’s okay for smaller groups but last time I went in a large group, they didn’t accept reservations, so you may want to allot some extra time for a table — it’s worth the wait.

I’ve been coming here for a few years and I’ve never been disappointed. The pizza is delicious and service is great!!! Tonight, my friend and I came after a run. Yes, a run! Lol we sat outside since the weather was nice, for once. Lol. We ordered the baked goat cheese for an appetizer and an Oktoberfest cause why not? St. Arnold’s Oktoberfest is my fav :) We ordered a medium New York style half chicken Alfredo and half Margherita with pepperoni. While we waited, our goat cheese arrived and man was it good!!! It was warm and creamy and it came with a few slices of bread and dried tomato w olives. Would totally recommend anyone to get it! A few mins later our pizza arrived. It was so yummy and it was pretty hot so we had to wait a bit to bite it. The cheese was so gooey and it just smelled so great. I tried a slice of chicken Alfredo, it was good but not my fav — I just don’t like chicken on my pizza lol so I took it off. Also, our wait or was super nice! He noticed that we were talking about«Married with children» and he started singing the theme song. Nice! :) Even though I wish they had ricotta cheese available, I’ll still give them 5stars! Hopefully in the future they’ll have it: D I’ll keep coming back either way!

Stopped in last night to pick up a pie on my way home. I ordered a large pepperoni for carry out. I thought 30 min for one pizza was unacceptable. The pizza was under sauced and under cheesed. As far as the taste; it was just okay. All that made the $ 16 seem a little pricy. I will not be returning.

Ok I’m sure a bunch of people will think I’m being too hard on Star’s pizza but I don’t see anything special about this pizza! We came on a Sunday night and wanted something different than Pink’s because that’s what we always eat. Well, that was a mistake. We should’ve stuck with Pinks. Service: slow. Our waitress had too many tables and we needed to track down others to get refills. Caesar salad– tasty. Small size was bigger than I expected. Pizza — we had half starburst and half spinach/garlic pizza. I don’t think it tasted fresh. The crust and bread tasted like it was pre made the day before and the bread was hard. The spinach/garlic was actually more flavorful than then starburst which was really surprising. Would I be back? NO Way!!! There are much better places in Houston to get your pizza fix. Also, read about deep dish in other reviews and we saw a deep dish be ordered at table next to us… Guys, that is NOT deep dish. There’s a Gino’s east in houston if you want to try real deep dish but nothing compares to Chicago :)

Star Pizza, one of the local pizza powerhouses. They have a lunch buffet and they’re right around the corner from work so I made the trip today. This is no Cici’s buffet. For $ 9.99 I believe, you get unlimited pizza, salad, and an iced tea. The pizza consists of your typical cheese, pepperoni, etc. but also has choices such as margherita, mushroom, and some more interesting options. All they have for dessert is an apple cinnamon pizza thing with walnuts. Since I’m allergic to walnuts that was a letdown. Wish they had more options but this is a nice, casual, and quick lunch spot.

This is not your ‘fancy ingredient at a trendy restaurant’ pizza. No arugula or pears or truffle. This is real pizza. What you get at Star is a meaty, cheesy, high quality pizza with the freshest ingredients. Be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes after ordering for your pizza to be done, but it is worth the wait. Star serves the best deep dish pizza out there. I’ve only had better at Gino’s East in Chicago. I haven’t tried the new Gino’s in The Woodlands yet but will have to see how it compares. You can order for pickup, but it doesn’t quite taste the same. Not served in the pan and the pizza can tend to get soggy fast in the non ventilated enclosed box. For the best tasting pizza, dine in instead.

My taste buds aren’t very fond of pizza in general, especially those with marinara sauce. But I’ll try to be objective. If you’re getting bored of eating regular pepperoni or sausage pizza and would like to try something a bit more complex and sophisticated, you’ll get that here at Star Pizza. I started with getting their Garlic Bread with Cheese appetizer. It comes with 6 good-sized pieces and was pretty good. To me, the amount of cheese is a bit overpowering, but overall a great appetizer to share. My party of three decided to share a Medium sized Deep Dish Starburst pizza, and that was definitely a good amount. Note that it does take a while(15-ish minutes) for the pizza to be made, but a good wait for freshly made pizza. The components are well crafted and taste great together. Complaints would be that the crust became soggy after a little while and shared the same consistency and taste as cheese, and the thickness of the pizza isn’t representative of a traditional deep dish pizza. However, for pizza lovers, this is a great place to try out. The pizzas are pretty big and filling, and after sharing them(or not), the price is a solid deal.
