Horrible horrible horrible. Came with about 10 people. Was seated right away, but it literally took 45 min to get our food after ordering. Service was so slow and it was only a weekday. I was like, okay, it probably takes a while to make a great slice of pizza. YES A SLICE. Anyway, when I got my slice of mushrooms and black olives, it was sooooo bad. Cheese tastes old, bread was burned, toppings were not fresh at all. Took an hour to make crap! Take your money somewhere else-like Fuzzy’s or Crespo’s!

Their deep dish pizza is some of the best pizza I’ve ever had in the Houston area. We make the trip over there to eat at least twice a month and it takes about 45 minutes that’s how good their Pizza is

I love this place. Great margarita pizza. They deliver if you live nearby, and if you don’t, it’s worth making the trip. One of my favorite pizza places in Houston.

Good pizza and service. We ordered the Starburst pizza and a single slice of cheese for one of my kids. We are from out of town and this was close to our hotel. It was nice they offered single slices. Most places do not do this outside of lunch hours. Pizza was good. Not greasy either. I would go back. I asked for paper plates and napkins and the friendly person behind the counter when I picked up said sure without hesitation and even put them in a bag for me. I really appreciated the great service!

By far the worst pizza place ever! I went with some friends after a concert and these people managed to mess up all our order twice! We waited an hour for them to get everything right(not counting the time before ordering). When it came time to pay they claimed they did not have change for $ 20 or $ 10 bills! What place doesn’t have change! By far the saddest excuse of a pizza joint!

Best deep dish pizza in Houston. We are from Dallas and whenever we come to Houston… gotta have the Star Pizza.

When I’m craving some extremely cheesy pizza, this is the place I go. I usually stick with the New York style pepperoni on white to keep it simple. I’ve gotten the Starburst before and felt that there was too much going on with the pizza. We always start with the cheesy garlic bread with marinara and forget that there is a delicious pie on the way. I’m actually quite surprised to see so many negative reviews. I’m sorry, but if you think you’re going to get authentic New York or Chicago style pizza in Texas… seriously? I’m a native New Yorker and have accepted the fact that the closest NY pizza I will get here in Houston is Frank’s downtown. Anyway, the pizza sauce is delicious and you can dab the extra grease from your toppings off of the pizza. Pepperoni has grease? Woah! Definitely stick with the regular NY style pie here at Star Pizza. Keep it simple and it will be delicous.

By far, the most overrated pizzeria in Houston. Their pizzas are super-greasy. If you are looking for some quality pizza, skip this place!

Had a cheese NY style Pizza, hot, cheese was out of this world stretche and delicious, perfect from top to bottom. One slice filled up my kids in a flash. Browne, cake, cookie couldn’t pick one that we liked the best all were delicious. One word to describe FRESH, everything was super fresh. 15% gratuity don’t know how I feel about it. The bill was $ 57 for 5 kids and 2 adults with tax and gratuity it came out to$ 71. $ 14 really, same price as a large pizza.

Me and my husband decided to try this place out this evening, for the first time. We didn’t eat in, we got it to go. We had cheesy garlic bread and Ben’s deep dish. My husband is from the North and grew up on deep dish. Out of all the reviews on Unilocal, this seemed like the best place in Houston for deep dish. The inside of the restaurant reminded me of a mom and pop Italian restaurant. They had delicious looking cake behind the glass, but we didn’t get any. Kind of wish we would have now though. Here’s where the 3 stars come in. There is a very bad parking situation here. The pizza had a lot of standing grease on it. But the worst part was the amount of pizza. We both were like«where’s the other part of the pizza.» This deep dish is not true. Even though the crust was deep, the amount of meat, cheese and sauce was terrible. It was like having a thin layer of toppings across the top, like a hand tossed pizza. We were celebrating a special occasion and now we’re both sick. Deep dish pizzas are supposed to be filled pretty close to the top with toppings, cheese and sauce. I should have expected this because it was 15.50 but I had heard so many good reviews about this place. The only way we’d come back is to try the cake.

Order placed on 4÷10÷166:33pm My first time trying Star Pizza. Disappointed. Why offer avocado on a pizza if it’s going to look like this? I understand oxidation is a thing, but this cannot be expected to be a quality product. I wanted to inform the company so that this sort of service can be prevented in the future. We waited an hour and a half for inedible product, at a premium price.

Maybe I really got an off day here. This place is about as expensive as Pink’s or Gotham — by that I mean it’s not a value pizza like Papa John’s or something, so it doesn’t have that excuse. With the cost of this pizza, it shouldn’t just be a grease bomb, it should actually be good. It was a grease bomb. We got the pizza with just meats on it, a usually pretty safe choice. It was just really greasy, there’s virtually no pizza sauce(which is fine), and didn’t have very much flavor. I just got too much grease to be able to really taste anything. We also got the breadsticks with marinara sauce. The sauce might’ve been good to some people, but I really did not enjoy it. It was very chunky and had this odd, tangy, overly tomato-y flavor. The breadsticks themselves were ok — nothing special, but not bad. Overpriced for what it is.

Kitschy pizza place with the perfect pizza! I love Star Pizza and ordered it for every university event that I hosted. My favorites: the Marilyn and the Margarita pizza. Huge pizzas topped with a ridiculous amount of toppings. The pizza was always a hit with people and that usually induced them to go visit the restaurant location. When dining in, I recommend the roasted garlic and goat cheese appetizer. It comes with a whole bulb of garlic roasted in oil with fresh goat cheese and sundried tomato. The garlic gets soft and when spread on the crusty bread with goat cheese — it’s amazing. Absolutely divine and pairs perfectly with their slices. They specialize in New York crust though I’ve heard their Chicago style is good. The restaurant is in an old home with a cozy interior. It gets crazy crowded on weekends, and sometimes the staff can be a little slow. However, I really recommend Star Pizza. It’s a Houston staple.

Neat Pizza Joint, funky vibe, sassy sign décor. This has waiter service, which I like! The waiter was prompt and friendly. He was good at keeping our drinks filled. I love a good NY style pizza and theirs are pretty good. We had the starburst — medium on white dough. The dough came out crispy but soft at the end due to so many toppings. I prefer a thinner pizza and more foldable. The topping were good, but the vegies cut a little large. I like mine cut smaller almost diced. We ordered the marinara and alfredo sauces. The marinara was sweet with heavy notes of oregano and garlic. It is bit chunky with onions and tomatoes. The Alfredo sauce was our favorite — creamy but a little thin.

My boyfriend just HAD to have deep-dish pizza as soon as we got into Houston. He had some really good experiences here in the past, so we met up with a few friends for dinner. The restaurant was really crowded for a Tuesday night, and we ended up getting a tiny table for 4 people(like 2 people were pretty much hanging off the edge of the table). We ordered 3 medium deep-dish pizzas(which turned out to be way too much food). We got two starburst pizzas(one on white and one on wheat crust) and a custom Hawaiian pizza with ham, pineapple, and jalapeño. I couldn’t really tell the difference between the white and wheat crusts except that the wheat crust was a little grainier. I’d say that I recommend the white crust though, if you don’t care about wheat being a little healthier. The starburst was good, but I really really liked the Hawaiian pizza – wish we had ordered two of those instead!

My absolute favorite place to grab pizza in Houston. The deep dish is pie style and with an amazing sauce and fresh ingredients!!! They offer white or wheat crust and a huge variety of toppings to create any pizza to fit your current situation(if you know what I mean). The place has odd charm and a rustic feel, the kind of place you just want to get lost in and hang out but also the best type of pizza that you can take home and enjoy from the comforts of your bed too. Best thing is the pizza is still as good day 2 as it is fresh outta the oven.

Decided to stray away from Luna’s for once, and gave this place a try. I was prepared to dislike it because of my loyalty to Luna’s but I was pleasantly surprised. I wanted to try this place because I read that they serve deep dish pies! We ordered a medium deep dish Starburst(ground beef, Italian sausage, pepperoni, onions, mushrooms and green pepper) and it easily fed 2 – 3 people. It was delish. The pie was not soggy or over seasoned and packed with tons of flavor. On a side note, YOUMUSTTRYTHELASAGNA!!! A little piece of heaven on Earth. I couldn’t stop myself from seconds. Comes with 2 buttery garlic bread sticks and a side salad. You’ll thank me later. Minus one star for the parking. The parking is a nightmare. I circled the lot 5 times waiting for someone to leave. I gave up and parked across the street at Whataburger. Park at your own risk because they do tow. I was lucky enough to get a seat in the front so that I can keep an eye on my car while dining.

Not much to look at from the outside, or inside for that matter but they get it right where it counts. The food is awesome! They have a variety of pizza’s and you can even build your own. If you’re not into pizza, don’t fret because you can choose from a variety of other items. The adult beverages are listed on a clip board. Yes, you read that right, a clip board. Very old school but it works. Let’s talk about the pizza… The small is what other places might consider a medium. This is definitely enough for two people, or you can divide it up into two meals for yourself. I was very surprised when I discovered the pizza wasn’t drowning in pizza sauce. I’m not a big fan of tomato sauce, so a very light pizza sauce was right up my alley. This made the pizza enjoyable for me, but just in case there’s a different guy making the pizza’s next time I go, I’ll order light sauce. Star Pizza does offer a pizza buffet. It’s located in the front of the restaurant and has a variety of items. We did not visit the buffet during this trip. Other items include a variety of pasta dishes, sandwiches and Italian entrees. I had the chicken, avocado and bacon sandwich. It was absolutely delicious. They use real avocado’s too, not that imitation stuff that other places use. There were 8 of us there from work. We were celebrating a coworker’s promotion so we came with our own cake. The waiter stored the cake in the kitchen until we were ready. He brought out the cake, along with plates and utensils for us. Awesome service. If you don’t travel with your own dessert, Star Pizza got you covered. With different cakes, cheesecake, brownies, cookies and cupcakes to choose from, even the sweetest tooth should be satisfied. Beware of parking. The parking lot is very small, and you can park almost anywhere nearby, except for 59 Diner. Please do not park at 59 Diner or you will be towed. Trust me, you do not want to give away $ 200+ and have to find a ride home. Overall, great food, great customer service, great location. Yeah, I’ll be back real soon.

Really good Chicago pizza! This place has been on my bookmarks for awhile now and I was so eager to try them out. The hostess greeted us and then began to seat us, she was attempting to take us upstairs as we passed empty booths. Typically I would be down for upstairs seating but I am 9 months pregnant and asked her if we could sit downstairs, she obliged without a fuss. We had our 3 year old with us and she was starving so we needed to get the show on the road. The waiters remind me of Berkley California meets Austin. Really hipster and nice but with a 3 year old you have to have a little pep in your step because they change personalities quite quickly. Food We started with the cheesy garlic bread-Cheese is top notch mozzarella and my daughter loved it. The bread could have been toasted a little more it was all this gooey cheese on top of soft white bread, it needed to have a bite to it. Pizza We created a Deep Dish pizza with pepperoni, sausage, and onions-Delicious sauce, perfect amount of cheese and the meats were incredible. Where they lost me again is the bread/crust. Most classic deep dish pizzas in Chicago have a crust with a little more texture when you get to the edge after you devour the pie. Typically it also has a buttery taste right at the end when you finish the last few bites. But that is the foodie in me that can be very picky when it comes to my deep dish. All in all I would definitely come back, very well made pie.
