We stopped by to purchase wine. We found a decent selection, but it seens that prices and varieties are less impressive than HEB. The staff were helpful(though they were busy). The selection is strongest in $ 11-$ 28 red wine(especially cab). I hoped that the Spanish wine selection would have been better. Still, we purchased 10 bottles :-O

Looking for any kind of alcohol to excite the mind, but damage the liver?! Come on down to Spec’s where the selection is such a variety, though it seems as if they have more spirits imported from other countries than America. I noticed at this location they didn’t have my favorite type of hard cider. Such disappointments, but they did have my favorite brand of Sangria. I was out to search for what became my favorite Belgium beer thanks to another Unilocaler, Sabrina F. The flavor of the beer is raspberry, my third favorite fruit. Also, the taste of that beer was delicious. If you crave a sweet tooth with some tart added to it. I double dare you to sample it. They have peach, cherry, pear, and apple. I personally didn’t like the peach flavor. The nice, kind, sweet, and personable lady that helped us some lady. I can’t remember her name, but she was a doll. Though, she carded me, heck. who wouldn’t? I look like a baby or a child as some would say, but other than that she was a sweetheart. She was a lot better than the cashier who checked us out. now she had herself a little nasty attitude. Along with the security guard. The prices were reasonable and not overly expensive as I was thinking.

I enjoy going here for the sales and suggestions by the knowledgeable staff. They try to help you find exactly what you’re looking for. I did notice that they tend to push the stuff that’s on sale though. I love tequilas and they have a decent selection. The best Specs for tequila variety is the downtown location on Smith St. It can’t be beat. This location has a few gourmet items but nothing close to the one on Smith. There are discounts for buying by the case. If you were to buy a case(6 bottles) of Cabo tequila, you’d save about $ 40. The staff has always been very friendly. I have no complaints except wishing they had the gourmet items like several other Specs.

I just called to check the hours for the 4th of July & the woman who answered the phone sounded like she hated her life. She screamed, «THEREGULARTIME!» & hung up… someone hates her job.

This place is like the Fry’s of the alcohol world. Lots of stuff, annoying staff/customer service, ok prices. I think I’ll stick to the more privately owned liquor stores.

Great place to find cheap wine for beginner wine drinkers. The staff is friendly and pretty knowledgeable. If you can drink it and get drunk off of it, they probably have it. Skip the drinking accessories they sell here though(glasses, bottle openers, party favors) they’re quite pricey in that department. Check em out if you’re near the Pearland area.

Ok where to start. This location is like the red headed step child of the Downtown store. This is exactly like Wal-Mart: They have four registers and only one cashier, you can find everything at a lower price than any other store, the employees have a crappy attitude that match their personal appearance and one of them has jacked up teeth. If you ever need assistance, do not ask. Asking one employee is like asking three other employees. They don’t know the answer to any questions. In fact, don’t ask anybody, find it yourself. You will end up taking 30 extra minutes with these folks. The staff seems to be inconsistent and there are always new people in training. I believe the rotund, white bearded manager of that location lacks professionalism as well. He interrupts the employees when they are speaking with customers and talks to them in a hostile way. During my last visit, the employees were cussing and yelling at each other as if it was an episode of Gordon Ramsey’s Nightmare Kitchen when the Irish couple were having a shouting match. This place is always filthy every time I come back. The shelves have a thick coating of dust, enough to make a mohair sweater. Talk about disgusting. I think I’d rather take my business to the Spec’s Downtown Houston. I don’t believe these two locations are owned by the same people. If they are, they might want to re-evaluate and restaff from management on down.
