This place has good happy hour specials and plenty of parking. Overall I find it to be an average bar with a convenient location. They do have occasional live bands as well as a big projector screen for vital games. My favorite thing about this bar will always be their bathroom. I love bringing newbies here and watching their frantic attempt to find the bathroom door after a few beers.

Just like your neighborhood bar, this bar does not provide anything extra to bring to the table. I came on Fat Tuesday at around 6 pm and the place was still relatively empty. The music mix was very awkward, ranging from 90’s music to modern. The bartender didn’t smile much, and her attire wasn’t very tasteful(a tank top that is one size too small with bra straps showing and Victoria’s Secret PINK lounge shorts). It just didn’t seem very professional. We got the appetizer sampler, which came with chicken tenders, chicken wings, chicken quesadillas, and potato skins. along with a variety of dipping sauces. I’ve had better. Most of them were dry and cold. The«buffalo wings» were not much more than a sour flavor. Don’t think I’m returning for sheer lack of ambiance.

I went here for a social mixer during happy hour. They let us take over the whole back room, had our own bar. I didn’t try any of the happy hour goods with the plates the party offered, but the other patrons seemed to be enjoying the specials. There is a small outdoor patio. The inside front area seemed really small. The room I was in was very spacious. Everything was very dark. Crowd seemed older. Vibe was relaxed. Music playing was 90’s alternative(Toadies, anyone?) The restrooms are between the front small area and the big room I was in — you have to push behind the bookcase. Best part is probably the huge parking lot. Overall, nothing special, but probably a reliable place to kick back and have a drink.

Went here after work with a bunch of coworkers on a Thursday and it was packed! It’s very spacey in the back with plenty of tables and room. It was a little loud because of all the people and the band that was playing but I didn’t really mind. Prices here were alright, the vibe was okay, and the overall look of the place was pretty cool. I shared some of the bar food with my coworkers and the food was alright too. The crowd on a thursday night was mostly people dressed in business casual getting out of work. Nothing really outstanding about this place but I would come back.

I like this location because it has a huge parking lot with it, even though it’s shared by many many businesses, so you might end up having to walk across people shopping for groceries. Once inside, it’s a small sized room. The drinks are default. My biggest complaint was the noise. It was VERYLOUD for a small pub.

I’ve been here several times for group/club outings where we meet in the back bar area. The wait staff can be slow at times but the drinks have always been good; the mixed drinks are always nice and strong. This is definitely a relaxed atmosphere where I can go to enjoy a drink and the company of good friends. The menu is mostly bar food, but what they do make, they make well, like the fish and chips.

First, can someone explain why the address on Unilocal and Google Maps shows it being off 59 and 288 but when you put it in MapQuest, it shows it being between Shepherd and Dunlavy, the correct location? I’m submitting a correction for the correct address, 1997A W. Gray St. Anyways, this place has redeemed itself because the first time I came here was St. Patrick’s Day and it was horrendous. The plumbing in the women’s restroom… well, there wasn’t any. The smell of s*** was overwhelming in not only the bathrooms, but the entire bar. It was flooded, so anyone that was in flip-flops, I am sorry. I luckily had heels on to wade through the water that was no joke, inches deep. They had the back door open with an industrial fan, but it still didn’t do the trick. Many women were using the men’s restroom which just created an even bigger line. Now, the green beer was delicious, but the smell just got to be too much and we left. Now, redemption. We came here after hitting up another bar and it was much, much more enjoyable. Parking was easy, since it’s in the same strip center as Kroger. Bouncers were friendly. Once inside we were able to walk right up to the bar and order long islands($ 5.75 a piece). Delicious! We sat outside and there was a taco trucked parked right out front. Damn. The smell was so tempting, but I had to resist. The drink I was sipping on was enough to ruin my diet. This time the bathrooms were working and smell-free. If you have never been to Baker’s Street, know that the bathrooms are disguised as a bookcase in the hallway. I plan to return since I have yet to try their food.

BESTHAPPYHOUREVER!!! $ 1 beer and wine? $ 2 margaritas? YESPLEASE!!! The only down side is the margarita cannot be frozen or flavored. I love me some strawberry margaritas but for 2 bucks I’ll take what I can get!!! After happy hour a band comes in and plays. I don’t know if they change bands or its a house band but when I was there, the band was so good. Played all the top 40 hits! Obviously with happy hour specials this good its a little crowded, but not crowded enough that you’re waiting an hour for a drink. If you wait for a waitress to come over you’ll be thirsty all night. My advice, go up to the bar, very little wait so you can get drinks quick fast. I’m really looking forward to going back great place!!!

While the happy hour pricing is quite appealing, Sherlock’s underperformed in all other respects. My girlfriend and I waited nearly 10 minutes in a decidedly uncrowded bar for a server. When she finally arrived, she asked if we were ready for some drinks. I agreed to cups of water and added that we’d like to see some menus, a gesture that prompted this exchange: Me: I’d like to see a menu, please. Server: A food menu? Me: …Yes. The beers that we ordered did come out fairly promptly. Our food orders were similarly prompt. However, my Elementary Burger came with only ketchup for sauce. Not a huge problem, right? I was going to ask the server for mayonnaise. It was not to be. She never came over to check on us once our food arrived. My girlfriend was unimpressed with her two tacos plate. While eating my burger I realized that it looked familiar: the sandwich looked like a less glamorous Whataburger. It was slightly more expensive than a class Whataburger, and it was less delicious(it succeeded at being bland, unmemorable, and uninspired) to boot. We won’t be returning to this establishment. The service was terribly slow, and the food wasn’t of any noteworthy quality. Next time? Whataburger and a Shiner — at home.

I want to strangle myself to death anytime someone utters«Let’s go to Sherlock’s». If this is your go-to place then you are oblivious to the fact that your friends secretly hate you. It isn’t even the bar’s fault, but the worst part about going here is being able to see people in neighboring bars actually having fun.

I like it there. Bartenders work fast, and they are very friendly. They have live music, I liked the ‘space rocket’ band, but last time I went the band that played was just ok. That wednesday the place was kind of dead, but I also went a thursday and the place was full. Their food taste really good. Thanks to the cook :). Drinks are not expensive, the crowd is friendly. Parking is free. For a good time you should totally go there.

I am not sure why this happened, but we ended up here on a Monday night. We usually find ourselves home at Cecil’s(it has sentimental value, okay?), but in the pursuit of «mixing things up,» we agreed that Sherlock’s would be worth exploring for their amateur comedy Mondays. I will say that I was loving the $ 2 well drinks(to reiterate — I am classy!), although they weren’t very generous pours. There were some other comparably good drink specials, but sadly my memory is limited so I only recall what was applicable to me(my bad). Okay for those of you who have never been — the restroom are in the hallway/corridor leading up to the back bar, disguised as part of the bookcase, marked with WC(water closet) above. Kind of adorable, but can be confusing. The comedy show was free, which is great so won’t end up feeling unfulfilled should these amateurs all suck — many of whom did in fact suck(enough with the contrived offensive sex jokes!). Some of the comedians did inspire a giggle or two, but it was all in good fun. The crowd was a bit sparse, consisting mostly of friends and family of the comedians. All in all it was just an okay experience. You can’t really count on initiating conversation with new people because of the comedy show setting, so be sure you’re in a mood to be entertained by some struggling comedians.

All happy hours should be like this one. The drinks are CHEAP. My long island iced teas are $ 5.50(usually ~$ 8). I love the french fries. I can’t remember if all appetizers are half off or just certain ones, but it’s not a bad deal. The food could probably taste better(hence docking a star), but it’s a bar, go figure. The service is decent, the atmosphere is laidback, and dress is comfortable and casual. What more could you want?

Eh. I was underwhelmed. I went on a Monday night for the amateur comedy night. Pretty hit or miss. The bar itself is dark and funky in the back. I think the highlight of my night was going to the bathroom… it’s hidden behind a secret bookshelf! With all the bars Houston has to offer, I don’t think I’d make my way back to this one. Unless they were having dollar beers. I’d go a lot of places I wouldn’t normally for dollar beers…

I went here to meet a date. It was Friday night and it was alright. They had a live cover band, if you’re into it great if you’re just trying to relax perhaps not so much. The drinks we’re pretty normal and nothing too memorable. In my opinion it’s a noteworthy place to go for food and drinks but don’t get too out of control because they wait-staff will show it non-verbally! Otherwise everyone was friendly and they did accommodate a large group which was pretty neat since some bars just don’t do that. I love the set up though! They had two rooms, one with the live music and another room near there that was cozy just for talking and relaxing PLUS a porch area! I love how the bathrooms were somewhat hidden but able to be found! Not so bad for an Irish pub.

I’ll say this, the waitstaff has been attentive and very nice each time that I’ve gone. The mini burgers are my favorite thing to get here, along with the drink specials they have for happy-hour. I wish the patio was larger, but they make the most of what they have at this location. The music selection left much to be desired. I dont know about anybody else, but I’m not trying to hear Coldplay while I’m celebrating my birthday. If you’re looking for a chill place to drink, nothing too fancy, this is an alright spot.

Although it is located in a nice area, it is not very fancy, but what would you expect from a pub? The outside is quite ordinary looking with a plain sign. The bar, located in a strip mall, is much larger than it looks from the outside. There is a front bar area and a larger rear bar area. At the very back corner there is a pool table, and I think I saw some other machine somewhere else. The door to the restroom is neat but confusing. It’s a bookshelf that you push in to reveal the men’s and ladies’ rooms. I had to go really bad so that was annoying at first but cool once I knew. I booked a special event happy hour at this place and they were very accommodating! My waitress was AWESOME, perhaps the best cocktail waitress I’ve ever had(although the bar isn’t really set all that high). This place has fantastic happy hour specials! $ 2 cocktails and beers? Private parking lot is very convenient, although a little snug for my giant SUV. I will definitely be returning…

All I can say is Wow… what a change from their old location! I’ve been away from Houston for 5 yrs so I don’t know how long this location has been open. I went there last night for the Aggie Happy Hour and loved the change of location. That’s what’s making me give them 4 stars instead of 3. If any of you remember, the River Oaks Sherlocks used to be located on the other side of the street, behind the LandMark theater. Not only that, but you had to go up some rickety stairs… I always felt that I was about to face plant, even when I was sober. And the smell, ewwwwwww… before Houston imposed the nonsmoking rules, the old Sherlocks always reeked of smoke(this was true for all the locations). Parking at the new location is so much easier. Yeah, it’s a hassle if you have to park on the other side of Krogers, but it was much worse at the old location. As far as pubs go, it’s run-of-the-mill. Okay beer selection, check. reguar bar type food, check. Band setting up, check(I had to leave early since I had to get up early… but the band sounded like they were going to be really good). Hard to flag a server, check. One big difference for the River Oaks location, and I don’t know if it was because of the Aggie social, is that the crowd is much younger than the other Sherlocks(mid 20’s — 30’s as opposed to 40-ish type crowd). So, 4 stars because of the location. I know, I should base it on other stuff, but really, if any of you remember how bad the previuos location was, you’ll understand. I’m sure I’ll revise when the euphoria has worn off.

Okay, so I’m giving Sherlock’s 4 stars because I think my reason for giving it 5 would be that I met some of my best friends one October night in this very bar. Honestly, I was skeptical at first, though. Here’s a random bar that’s located right next to a huge Kroger’s… It just reminded me that once again, we’re in Houston — the city that’s suburban without even trying to be. And the parking was a bit hard to find — I had to park behind the building, back in the dimly lit area, where I was slightly scared to walk by myself. But the inside is quite cozy and nice — I mainly stayed in the back bar area. It’s big enough to hold a lot of people, but small enough that you don’t feel overwhelmed. And the nice wood finishes on everything make you feel all cozy. Of course there were also drink specials for Happy Hour, which make me happy as well.(I even bought a round of drinks for my friends!) I like that they have a «bar» looking area behind the actual bar, facing the tables. That means you can sit, drink and scope out the crowd. It’s also a place to leave your empty glass when you’re done drinking. :) I think the bathrooms have already been mentioned — but what’s not to love about bookshelf bathrooms? It made me so happy I actually went twice, just to get the full effect! I can’t lie, though. The best part for me was meeting people there(I was there for an event) — because I met some pretty awesome people that I now call my friends.(Awww, I know, I know, gag me. I’m not usually this sappy!) But the décor, the ambience and the cheap liquor definitely helped — Go Sherlock’s!

My old best friend and I were looking for a place to catch up and have some drinks thanksgiving night(yes we are alcoholics) Sherlock’s was great because it had a front room where you can sit and talk, AND have close access to the bar. They also have like 15 different beers on tap! The backroom had a live band playing, which would have been a great alternative to the front room if someone was looking for something a little livelier. I didn’t pay for drinks all night(score!) so I’m not sure how much they were, but probably affordable, since my friend never made me pay! The only problem? The bathrooms are behind a bookcase wall and it took me forever to figure that out!
