Sharky’s ain’t so bad. I don’t like the cigarette smoke but for the most part don’t have any choice in the matter since nearly all the bars in this area allow smoking. The bar itself has friendly staff(Samantha works weekdays and is very cool) and the folks who complain about the prices must be comparing it to an un-airconditioned ice house or just buying a six-pack at HEB. The Coors Light price at happy hour is 2 bucks, and I’m not real sure how much cheaper it can get anywhere else. The bands that play there are usually pretty doggone good if you don’t mind cover tunes. Thursday night karaōke is always fun and funny, and the crowd is very down-to-earth. Very blue-collar, all races and types, not too many guys and not too many gals. They have poker nights but I’m not sure when they are. There are a lot of pool tables and the place is pretty big. Plenty of places to sit, although there’s no table service. The bartenders normally always know how to mix up whatever you ask for, and while the selection isn’t what I’d call extensive, whatever liquor you prefer will usually be stocked with at least three or four choices. My understanding is that they’re going to turn the place into a country & western bar, which I feel is a big mistake. As it is, the music there is a big mix of rock, country and hip-hop hits and oldies, and I think that reflects the tastes of the typical Friday or Saturday night crowd fairly well. There is a large contingent of regulars who frequent the place most happy hours during the week, and they are also a friendly bunch. Many live in the nearby Deerfield Village subdivision which ain’t the cheapest place to buy a house in the surrounding area. All things considered, I’d give Sharky’s four stars if they didn’t allow smoking.

I don’t even think this place deserves a star. They drinks aren’t cheap, the place is small. Its always like a high school reunion there. And worst of all you and everything you come in contact with after you leave there will smell of smoke. I would avoid it at all cost.

Eeh. It’s alright. If you live on the West side of town and want to shake your arse and have a few drinks, this is the place to go since they have a dance floor. But, know that you will come home smelling like an ash tray. If you’re a smoker, you’ll like that you can still smoke indoors here. If not, your eyes will hate you for the first 10 – 20 minutes as they readjust to the fog. The drinks are not too cheap, but if you can find room to belly-up to the bar, they randomly give specials such as $ 1-$ 4 shots for the duration of a song. When you’re parked at the bar this can be a very easy way to buy a round for your peeps. ;)

If I ever wanna run into one of my ex-boyfriends from Thornton Junior High or that one kid that smelled like syrup from elementary school(I’ll spare names here), I know I’ll find them at Sharky’s. For the folks who grew up in the Cy-Fair area, this is the stomping grounds to graduates of LC, Cy-Springs, Katy, and maybe a bit of Cy-Falls. I’m surprised that I’m giving it three stars, but being that there aren’t many places with a dance floor in that area(please don’t say ‘Hush,’ people), when I’m on this side of town with old friends, we always go to Sharky’s. Weekdays, it’s your typical sports bar: happy hour, pool tables, crack machines, etc. Weekends, however, it’s basically a club. Live music, a stage, live dj, a newly built catwalk for drunk chicks to climb on and let loose(emphasis on the ‘loose’), bottle service… You’ll find cover charge on Friday night(live music) and on Saturday(live dj); karaōke is on Thursday, Drinks are kinda pricey, considering you’re not in the big city; bartenders are somewhat fast/attentive if you get to know them. BTW, you can smoke here, so don’t forget the gerts! Basically, if you’re in the area, next to Moe’s, I always choose Sharky’s.
