Well todays music is gar-bag-e lets be clear. I like on Friday when def jam blaster plays the 80,902000’s rap and r&b hits. Nice Crowd beautiful women and on point drinks.

Man, this place is AWESOME. Forget all of the other stupid bars it’s attached to, THISISTHEPLACE. The décor and employees are hilarious, as both were decked out in a complete 80s vibe. The DJ played some serious radio jams from the 80s and 90s, as well as the early 00s. I’m talking Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls, Montell Jordan. The hits. For whatever reason, though, this bar is not as popular as those it’s attached to which is a real shame. Despite that, though, my friends and I spent the entire night dancing to every single song the DJ played – most of the night we were the only ones of the floor – and coaxing others to dance with us. Honestly, I find being goofy to this kind of music, dancing and having a good time to be way more enjoyable/fulfilling than grinding around to some sub-par radio R&B at the other bars, but I guess I can’t judge. Go to Shark Bar if you’re cool and actually interested in having a ton of fun. Go to the other bars if you’re just lame.

Completely dated, cheesy theme«club» with dated 80’s music in a completely dated cheesy concept of 4 clubs in the same venue. Still, the windows are open so there’s enough humidity to surf on.

Shark Bar is the 80s and oldies music bar of the new Bayou live strip. It by far was the most tame of the 4 bars. No one was really on the dance floor, however the patio area seemed to have most of the people enjoying Houston’s humid weather…

This bar is in connection the the other three on this strip. This particular one plays more 80s music with some top 40 added in once in a while(at least tonight they did). Not really my style of music. But if you like more old school music, this would be more for you. they do have a nice patio outside which would be great for the smokers. There is plenty of room to dance in this one.

I went to the grand opening. I wasn’t sure what to expect from a place called Shark Bar. Was I suppose to wear a bathing suit? Dress code was really lax which I like. Come-on the staff is dressed in swim-wear and the village people. Yes, they played YMCA which works well in the retro surf bar and creates lots of fun. But if you are not into anything retro, then no worries. They have 2 other lounges with more of a modern taste. Also can never go wrong with having a mechanical bull. YEAH, they went there. Overall, I had a great time. The only thing I didn’t like was how hot it was. They have the windows open and the doors to patio open which of course sucks out all the cool air. Not sure how they are gonna deal with the summer heat. I just wished I wore shorts.(maybe they might consider having fans.

Downtown Bayou Place has a new addition to it’s myriad of local nightlife. Shark Bar starts simply enough as a retro surf bar and lounge but that is not all you will get from this new hot spot. Going along with the trend of multiple clubs in one. Other than the retro surf room playing 80’s music with a video lounge take a short walk through their hallway and you find yourself in a pub like setting with a moody atmosphere playing rock and 90’s music, through another set of double doors you find a southwestern themed bar playing hip-hop and country an interesting combination. Intriguing things about this place is the staff’s costumes or uniforms each set for the club in the surf bar you get girls in short shorts and bikinis as well as your men in open Hawaiian shirts, the pub has your more subtle staff, while the southwestern lounge has ladies in chaps and little else. The staff here is very interactive and fun they will get down with you and even get you going on the dance floor or tables. Another plus about this spot is the amazing views form their wrap around patios and let me not forget the hellacious mechanical bull in the SW bar. In short a new place downtown, good drinks, interesting idea a little bit of something for everyone as well as great patio with amazing views of downtown. The music in the hip-hop room could stand for improvement I just don’t understand country and hip-hop but maybe that’s me. Great staff and fun crowd. Parking may be an issue downtown but there is always valet if you trust them.
