I’d say that I’m going to miss this place, but I’d be lying. Sure, the prices were dirt cheap, but I always wondered how. Usually, stopping at this store was only because I was working in the neighborhood and it was on the drive home. The store was always dirty and crowded, but they carried the staples, and that’s important at the end of a long day when you’re ready to just go home and veg. The cashiers ranged from slightly friendly to indifferent to downright rude, and you never knew which you were going to get. Not to sounds mean, but it makes sense that this place closed. I don’t know how they made a decent profit. I am curious to see if any of the other Houston locations are nicer. I wanted to like this place more than I did.

The patrons of this place are enough to affect its star rating. They generally have everything in stock that I need for something around the corner, but getting out with my usually less than 10 items can be a pain. People with 16 children buying groceries to prepare for the end times, watching it all pile up with no bagger, waiting until the VERYEND to write a check and look for their pen, and getting freaked out when you start bagging because the other line, which is the only other one open, has the same situation and you don’t feel like waiting 30 minutes to buy some sandwich fixings. You’ll NEED to go to the Spec’s next door afterwards. Decent prices, great stock levels. Also, I don’t count bike parking being in the most robbery-ready part of the walk away from any of the foot traffic of the businesses as bike parking.

This is a «ghetto» store with cheap prices… What more can you expect? so a 3 star rating is warranted. This is no Central Market and you don’t come here for all the amenities like flowers, a fresh food counter or a fancy deli… it’s a good place to stop when you’re in a crunch on the way home or value shopping for large families. Let’s face it, everyone loves to save a buck. The only trade-off is a less than stellar website(the sales ad online was posted a day early so, I didn’t get the«advertised» price when I went there today. You can’t win em all, I guess.

I hate this place. It’s literally the worst version of Fiesta. Way more crowded, lower quality goods, the clerks checking people out just seem angry!

It’s no Fiesta but they do have a great selection of Hispanic products. They also sell Hondurian, Salvadorian and(of course) Mexican cheese. I thought the prices were pretty low. I was looking for a cake though and they don’t sell any. I will use Seller’s Brothers when I’m too lazy to drive to Kroger or Fiesta, but I don’t think I could find all of the stuff I need there.

I usually drop in this location for a few quick produce items that they don’t always have at Randall’s like daikon, won bok, ginger root, Chinese eggplant, Asian or Hispanic items mostly. The produce prices are also very, very cheap in comparison to almost any other market I’ve been to. For example, where can you get jalapeño peppers for 2lbs/$ 1? Ok, ok, they’re not always that cheap but something is always on sale at the store, I get their ads in the mail… I think on Tuesday. As stated before, impressive selection of cheese products, most I have no idea how to use, but if I need some type of cheese for my dish, I’ll know where to go first. Large selection of peppers, fresh and dried, again more than I know how to use. Nice selection of fruits as well. Great meat department especially for pork since almost all types of cuts are out and you don’t have to wait for someone to cut it for you. One downer is the lines in the store. I would advise not going on the weekends which can be hellish in the parking lot and waiting time in the express line can make it seem anything but express like. But since I usually go mid day during the week I don’t run into this crowd. A nice plus is the Spec’s next door in case you forgot to buy the Tequila.

I frequent this grocery a lot as it is very near my digs. It is always an adventure. Lovely Latino ballads Muzak. All communiques over the intercom are also in Spanish. The most extensive collection of Latino cheese found this side of the border. It’s like if Wisconsin were a city and that city existed within a city, let’s say Houston, then Seller Bros is to Mexican white cheese as Wisconsin is to yellow cheddar. Great selection of veggies, some I don’t even recognize. Lots of authentic Chinese oriented food too. Mostly I just visit the beer and dairy aisles though. The one-armed cashier is particularly charming and if you don’t pay attention and get in her line you will rue the day. Wrinkles will form and hair will gray in the time it takes you to reach the lone-armed checker. You will cry when someone requests double bagging! All an all a rather memorable experience.
