Unprofessional, Incompetent, Poorly Managed, and PAINFUL service. READ about my in mouth experience and my role in their Social Media I went in for a routine cleaning. I was told by office personnel they would call me later to inform me of my co-pay if any since I scheduled after hours. They did not call back, I figured its okay, not a big deal, I can find out when I get there. I get there and the office administration are making personal phone calls, playing on the internet, not doing work. I figure they’ll get me in my fast. Instead I wait and wait. Finally the girl tells the caller that she has a patient waiting. Thanks for trying. Once I get in, they dont talk to me or introduce me. There are no patients, an abundance of dental assistants hanging around doing nothing and a lone hygienist in her office on the computer chatting it up. With so many people, what took them so long to get me in? As I get my X-Rays, the dental assistants are gossiping, taking their sweet time to get my X-rays done. They move me to get my teeth cleaned. As I lay down to get my teeth cleaned. I figured, finally some professionalism as the hygienist introduces herself and starts cleaning. Immediately the obvious lack of education, patient bedside manners and comfort goes out the window. This is incompetent part: The hygienist starts by POLISHING my teeth first. I spent some time in my undergrad exploring Dental Hygiene as a profession and we all know, you DONOT polish first. That’s the equivalent of waxing a dirty car, You’ve got to take the dirt off before you wax it, aka you must remove the tartar build up before you can polish my teeth! As I’m getting my teeth cleaned, one of the dental assistants decides I need to be apart of her Social Media and takes a photo of me. Instagram? Snapchat? Please, leave me out of it. Once the hygienist is done polishing my tartar build up, she starts using the Ultrasonic scalar, the tool they use to remove tartar. Its obvious she’s trying to make quick work out of her last appointment of the day and she jabs me over and over and over with her scalar into my gums. Taking no care into the comfort level of the patient. Being a hygienist is supposed to be meticulous, delicate work. You can’t use the scalar like a pen, its pointy and vibrating in my soft gum tissue! Its obvious she misses about 40% of my teeth as she only cleans what is easily accessible, anything in front of my 1st premolars. Keep in mind the hygienist’s cleaning process took her a good 5 – 8 minutes. Quite possibly the quickest cleaning I’ve ever had. I am looking for a new hygienist to re-do the little work they did. NOWTHEWORSTPART: professionalism and bedside manners out the door, she chats up the Instagram’ing assistant and decides to have a full blown conversation as she is working on me with the scalar. She looks up to talk to her all the while the scalar is STILLINFULLOPERATION and jammed into my gums. That’s like putting an electric drill in my mouth and looking away. The dental assistant is no better, a person mouth can only open so far and only so many things can go in. She hooks her finger into my cheek and pulls to make room for the suction while the hygienist is looking away with the scalar in my gums pull the other way. I felt like a piece of worthless meat. Finally when the cleaning is over, I am patiently waiting for the assistant to floss my teeth but she is too busy watching the TV. It takes a good 4 – 5 minutes for her to floss everything. A lot of great stuff on the news that day I tell ya. No wonder people hate going to the dentist. These people are the worst.
