Horrible service and haircut. I bought a groupon here and I was treated so rude and waited a long time only to have a lady tell me my daughter couldn’t be at the salon… wtf??? She said no kids and then after having to drop my daughter off they tell me my groupon won’t cover my haircut because of the length… which is pretty average a little below shoulders. I was then really mad and wanted a refund. she said go ahead and get the cut and we won’t charge you for extra this time(as if I was ever going back) I got a haircut which was blah! Tip to the salon.* when running a groupon deal treat those customers with the best customer service possible, after all this is why you have a groupon. To promote your salon to people that perhaps might not have walked into your salon. Do not treat them as if they are using a coupon and you just want to get them out the door. If they have a nice experience, chances are they will be a full paying costumer next time.* but unfortunately for you guys your reviews are a clear sign your business won’t make it … Bummer for you

I went to Trader Joe’s next door on Tuesday and I saw the marquee«Happy Hour eye brows $ 5» when I called to find out the details, I was told that it wasn’t until Wednesday. I pointed out that they should specify on the marquee. The lady on the phone said, «You should have called earlier, we had a lunch special today.» I pointed out that wasn’t on the marquee either. I’m a budding marketing specialist, but, this is just common sense… details matter, otherwise it’s borderline false advertising.

After reading the reviews I was like ahhhhhhhhh shit… But after getting here I was like ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh snap. This place is very nice it offers top of the line service and my foot massage was the ! I noticed a few things that could be polished on but all in all It didn’t bother me because the staff was so friendly that it out shined those minor hiccups! This place gets 2 polished thumbs up from me!!!

First time here, used a GroupOn for a cut and I guess I got what I paid for… discount haircut that wasn’t up to my expectations. As I was new to the area and had no idea where to go, I decided to give River Oaks Beauty Bar another shot. Boy was I one happy girl when I found Jana Nguyen! Every time I went to visit, Jana consulted with me and got to know my styles and she knocked it out of the park every time. She even helped fix a cut that a friend gave me when I was asked if he could try something out. When service at RRB began to decline, Jana took a new opportunity at Thairapy off Welch. I’m following her there! You should definitely check out this place… comfortable/relaxing environment, open area so you don’t feel cramped, and their own parking so you’re not taking a risk to get out on Shepherd.

The catchy name and easy-access location are the two factors that keep this place in business. If you want to find the worst customer service in a salon book now. On the phone the staff(spoke with two employees) are short and rude(for a salon I thought this was odd). Cleanliness is not a high point for the place.

Terrible experience. Do not trust these people. Purchased two services from Bloomspot. One for a blow dry & one for keratin treatment. The fine print said I could purchase one of each but that I could use them only one at a time and that it was for new customers. So I purchased one of each and I used the first one which was for the blow dry. It was okay and I said I would be back for the keratin treatment. 10 days later I made an appointment for the keratin and when I arrived I was told it was no good. «Are you kidding me» I said. «No», the receptionist Sonia said, «it’s only for new clients». I was a new client when I purchased the Bloomspot But apparently once I use the first coupon I was no longer a new client and they would not honor the coupon I purchased at exactly the same time when I was a new client. Makes no sense. Buyer beware this place is run by people who do not understand customer care. Enter at your own risk.

As some others mentioned, I was wary of coming here after reading its mixed reviews but I’m so happy I went! I came here for a cut and conditioning treatment special from bloom spot. I called on Thursday and they were able to fit me in for an appointment Friday. Sometimes I have hesitations when salons are able to accommodate this easily, especially on a Friday or weekend but I was in desperate need of a haircut and fast. I didn’t request any stylist. Fate gave me Erin and I really liked her. She did not make me feel like I was annoying for using a bloom spot and really listened to what I wanted. I have long hair and just wanted a trim and that’s exactly what I got. The conditioning treatment didn’t do anything and I didn’t even realize I’d gotten one but I won’t take a star off since $ 35 for a haircut and blowout is a great deal in my book. Hope to return soon!

I was wary of coming here after reading all the bad reviews. From the long waits to the bad service, to the extra charges, I was scared. But none of it happened on the day I went. In fact, I was quite pleasantly surprised. This was probably the second best haircut I’ve ever gotten. I came in with my usual pictures of Mandy Moore(can you pick someone with better hair than her with a round face? I dare you.) Anyhow, my stylist, Jana, double checked with me whether I wanted strong side bangs or only framing around the face, so I could also wear my bangs parted down the center. Very smart question, because I did not want the strong bangs and I wouldn’t have been as happy with the end result. I was in and out of this place in 57 minutes, including filling out the form when I got there, getting shampooed, a deep conditioning treatment, haircut and blowout. If it weren’t so darn expensive($ 75 for everything I had done), I’d be back here in a heartbeat. Everyone was extremely nice. My stylist was Heather. I have very long hair and she did exactly what I requested– trim with Long layers. It wasn’t the most spectacular blow out I’ve ever had(I don’t ever do my hair so I love when someone does an awesome voluminous blow out) but I’m sure had I requested it, she would have performed!

The River Oaks Beauty Bar also changed my appointment without notifying me & when I actually got to go it was the worst wash & dry I have ever had. I had bought 2 groupons but I couldn’t bring myself to give the other one to anyone I knew so I called Groupon & they refunded it. The only plus I can can come up with is good location…

I got a facial here after buying a groupon deal. There was construction going on. It wasn’t relaxing at all. The aesthetician didn’t do any extractions and was very keen on trying to sell me products — during the facial and after. I wouldn’t go back.

The hair stylist was nice, but I went in for a trim and she took off over 2 inches! That is not a trim, so I was not happy about that. Then I got an eyebrow wax, which was fine. BUT, she burned me. People kept asking if I had scratched myself. I also have a facial, but I am nervous about using it. I wanted it to be a better experience since everyone was friendly, but the services left me feeling dissatisfied.

I bought the groupon for a cut and color. I had my hair cut by Erin yesterday and I am thrilled. The haircut is great, especially since I have tricky curly hair and was in the process of growing out a bad cut. The color looks good too. I also had my eyebrows threaded there for only $ 7(a steal!). I highly recommend Erin.

I used a groupon deal. I was very excited to go to a new place plus the salon looked really cute. I scheduled an appointment and 3 days later they changed my appointment to 2 hours later without ever calling me. Groupon emailed me my new time. Luckily I was free all day so it was not terrible but it surprised me that they did that. When i get there I had to wait for 55 minutes. Then when the shampoo girl washed my hair, she did a terrible job. I told her that my hair was easily weighed down and that it needed to be washed 3 times. It’s typical in Dominican and Black hair salons to wash coarse hair 3 – 4 times and use a tiny bit of conditioner so my hair will be flowy, with tons of volume and movement. She ignores me and washed my hair 1x and then put a ton of conditioner on my fine, short hair. Then the hairdresser Sneice put a ton of product on my hair even though I told her I want volume. She was gently with the round brush but she burned my scalp several times with the flat iron. She also did not straighten my roots very well at all! My hair is relaxed and so the only thing she had to do was focus on was my 4 weeks of new growth which was tiny and she couldn’t even do that. However the upside to this was my haircut is really cute. I like it and I think she did a good job. Honestly I was shocked at the lack of skill of the staff. All the blowouts/haircuts looked mediocre at best. This is the worst salon I have ever been to, perhaps because I am used to amazing flat ironing and pressing skills. An amazing blowout/flat iron starts with the shampoo and conditioner!!! **24HOURSLATER** So I am rewashing my hair and my hair in the back is matted to my scalp bc of dried blood. She burned my scalp with a flat iron so badly in the back that it bled!!! DONOTGO! **LOL** So since posting this review I have gotten hate mail from Sneice or a another stylist posing as H W.‘s. She knew things about me that i only told the stylist(my ethnicity and school), she is not a customer! She is a stylist from this salon posing as a customer. Um Unilocal is supposed to be truthful reviews. I am posting a truthful review. Do not email me ! Cyber bullying is never okay

I bought the groupon for the cut, color and moisturizing treatment. Or «the service» as one haughty receptionist at another salon would say. Anyway. Kept checking for reviews. None. Made me nervous. Groupons stress me. Assume when you see a few hundred bought it will be chaos of you ever even get in. Surprised when I bought on Thursday and got in on Saturday. At noon! Schwing! So they offer me a mimosa and the wait was only about 10 min. No biggie. I was put with heather, very nice. I stayed on guard through the whole process. Totally unnecessary groupon paranoia. Color is great, the cut is perfect and she styled it well which never happens for me. I will be back. You had me at «mimosa».

I bought a groupon for partial hightlights and a hair cut and was really disappointed. The girl who cut my hair walked in the same time I did and we sat on the couch next to eachother for 30 minutes before she got up and then introduced herself as the person who was going to be doing my hair. I’m pretty sure she was brought in just to do Groupon customers, because she clearly didn’t work there prior to that day. It was really bizare. I have brown hair and asked for no blonde in the hightlights and of course now I have streaks of platinum. The haircut isn’t much better. It’s not the quality of a nice salon. The worst part is, I was there for 3 ½ hours. I’m tempted to go back and get everything fixed, but i’ve already invested so much time there, the last thing I want to do is sit in a chair longer. I won’t be going back.
