This I my first time coming her and its an okay place. Food is good. I don’t have nothing great to say. The only hung I really don’t like is the valet parking and its $ 5. I won’t come here again.

Ranosh Café is one of our favorite local Mediterranean/Arabic food destinations. It’s usually busy in the evenings, but nice and open in the afternoons. There is valet parking, which is usually necessary because street parking is sparse. Indoor and outdoor seating is available as well as a playground for kids. The mixed grill with hummus and rice and the chicken Shawerma sandwich with fries are our personal favorites — very good. We don’t smoke shisha often here, but it is good, especially with a glass of tea.

We generally have a good experience here. Our menu favorites are the mixed grill with rice and hummus, the beef kefta kebabs, and the chicken shawarma with fries. Staff is friendly, music is nice but sometimes loud, lots of seating. Sheesha is pretty good, but you probably want to bring your own hose. The tea with mint here is really good. Only drawback is on occasion we have waited a very long time for food and it is often a bit crowded, but that is only a measure of Ranosh’s popularity. We would recommend Ranosh.

The Beef and lamb were perfect. The falafel’s were so good I had to place a second order, and finally, the pita bread was both crisp and soft… and the size of a medium pizza! I like the fact that they have a small menu selection in comparison to most restaurants… so what they do, they do well. Valet only parking on the property, so if they’re busy you’ll have to park on the street.

Place is nice and quiet during the day, very full of life weekend nights. I preferred the daytime quiet. It’s very dirty, I had to clean the table myself. Service was good being that it was slow. The food was good but not the best of the Mediterranean restaurants, but the price is greet. It’s definitely more for hanging out and smoking.

Looking for a place to relax, drink some mint tea, eat good food, smoke some hookah and be surrounded by loud Arab men while watching soccer? Well then ranosh is the place to be. Honestly I love this place, food is simple and good, mint tea is good. I love the atmosphere, it’s relaxed and freindly. Service is good. I have nothing bad to say about ranosh. What it is not though is 5 star dining with candle light ambiance, look elsewhere if that’s what you want. Good food + good price = Ranosh

Great atmosphere, although felt out of place as a woman. Chicken shawarma was tasty, big portion and great sauces to accompany the sandwich.

Ranoosh have great food, one of the tastes tea in town, plus great customer service. Hokkah is number one here. I come here normally to study, but it never happens between the food and the hokkah and the free Wifi you will be swamped, my next visit will be soon as of today!!!

I went to Ranosh with a couple of friends on a Friday night. It was very difficult to find free parking. So I paid valet five dollars to park my car. There was no wait so we were seated immediately outdoors. We won’t really hungry therefore we placed an order on Persian tea and 1 orange hookah for ~$ 30.00(1 hookah is usually good to share between 4 – 5 ppl). The tea was delicious but the hookah was horrible according to my friends. My honest opinion, I have visited way better middle eastern restaurants in Houston, TX.

Their lamb & bread was superb. I’ve never had lamb so tender before & I’m not even a fan of lamb like that. The patio is pretty good on a weekday to just hang out & hit the hookah.

Food and pricing was pretty great. Service was fast and it as interesting environment for sure. Really big hookah bar which looks like what people were there for in the first place. The pita was fresh baked and the kabob was pretty amazing. Hummus was great too. I can’t complain and plan to return. Only downside I found was the lack of desserts but that is not the end of the world.

Very good. Very authentic. Probably the best Mediterranean food I’ve ever eaten. Their pita bread is homemade and so yummy. I tried going on a Saturday evening once and it was beyond packed. There were cars parked streets away to get into the place. I’m not sure if there was an event or what. I’d suggest going on a weekday

I have been Ranosh before and I was extremely pleased with my first experience. On my second time going back, I was definitely much less satisfied. When I walked in with my group, the staff was not respectful of the fact that we were still waiting for our group. They tried to push us in and seat us when we were not ready. Also, the staff, in general, was very inattentive that evening. It was very hard waving someone down to come help us when we wanted to order. It was just as hard to get someone to grab to-go boxes for our group. I don’t particularly like screaming to get a person’s attention. I’m very non– confrontational. The food was pretty average today. The bread served with our meal was burnt on one side. I had the Ranosh Chicken. The chicken was too charred, as in it was burnt black. I was pretty disappointed with the food because I normally love Middle Eastern food. Also, the hookah experience was average. The flavor wasn’t very strong. The staff brought out new coals when we fittest received cour hookah and put them in the tray. So, they burned out before we needed to use them. Why would you give us new coals within 3 minutes of giving us a new hookah? All in all, I was very disappointed with this visit. I’m not sure I’d be interested in returning…

I, along with 5 other friends, went to Ranoush tonight as we have many times before. This review is not about their food, which is honestly very good, but about their poor service. We got there at 1:05am and gave our orders. We had a hookah, 4 entrees and an appetizer. Our food came out at 1:48am. We were missing an item and when asked for it, the waiters response was the kitchen is closed. 3 minutes later, the waiter came with the check and said that they need to close the register, since they close at 2am. We understood and paid our check. Then, promptly at 1:54am, the owners decided to shut off all the lights in order to clear everyone out. So, we had to finish our meal with the flashlights on our iPhones while the busboy kept trying to clear our full plates saying he has to go home. We told the manager that we just got our food less than 10 minutes ago and if they had mentioned that they were going to close we would’ve taken it to go. All he could do was point at the clock on his phone saying he has to close. Eventually he did turn on one light for us, but was pressuring us to leave as soon as possible. A word of advice to the owners and management, don’t treat your paying customers like trash after we’ve paid and tipped before we even started eating. You guys can make some great lamb kabob and some fancy renovations, but need some major overhaul in your customer service.

I used to be a regular here and I stop going in September, so when I came back I was excited to see the new sign and seats. But was it jammed packed(when isn’t it), this little hole in the wall has bloomed into meh. The food still amazing, the baklava was lacking, I don’t think they do it there anymore, the sisha/hookah just skip it. I was upset. I got nothing but pipe taste, made my lips numb and tingly. Not sure what they did but the hookah used to be good, now its like smooking the cheapest pipe available. I didn’t care for it, nor the lack of waiters and when I got some ones attention all I got was«who’s your waiter?» Followed by a wait to get them to take any extra orders. I like the food but everything else is just failing now. I’m depressed over it, my favorite hole in the wall just fell to second place.

Ranosh! I’ve been planning on re-visiting this place with a certain friend since moving back to Houston, and on the heels of leaving the city again it finally happened. It had been years since I’d been here last, and changes made since then have been welcomed improvements. The outdoor seating is spacious and lush with flora, including palm trees wrapped in strung lights, while the indoor seating maintains the feel and décor of an exotic local spot. The mint flavored hookah, or shisha, is refreshing and quickly gives you that hookah buzz you may have heard about or experienced first hand. The mixed bowl of pickles and olives that I ordered wasn’t pretty, but had a slight spicy flavor and included pickled vegetables such as cauliflower, celery, red pepper, and banana peppers. I feel certain that it is all pickled on the premises. My friend had the chicken platter, which is fantastically grilled and served traditionally with rice or American-ized with French fries(see what I did there?). We all watched the Rockets lose the quarter finals to Golden State, we includes the employees, on a gigantic screen; I think I spotted an Energy Star sticker! Then a little vintage women’s soccer was next, a la Mia Hamm taking off her jersey after winning the Women’s World Cup; anyone remember what year that was? Staff is friendly; a little lax but this is a local gem and not a Michelin starred bistro so realistic expectations are likely to be met. The hot sauce and white sauce are great, and remind me of local Middle Eastern spots in New York. I can’t wait to try it with the falafel, and a side of good conversation the next time I pay the place a visit.

As a writer, It would be lazy for me to call this place an oasis. There it sits behind some shrubbery on a non-descript corner of Fondren. I passed it twice before I realized that the abandoned shack was Ranosh. Sprawling isn’t the right word, but it’s much bigger on the inside than you realize on the outside. There’s a outdoor patio, a roofed over patio, an air conditioned café area, and a larger space cooled by fans for your hookah needs. I was there for the food. Ambiance/Clientele/Service — people that appreciate this kind of food are here, but this was definitely a neighborhood community spot, not a white linen/wine list kinda place. Everyone was welcome. Food — they give you a LOT. I was surprised by how much he brought out. Falafel — I’m guess that it’s authentic, and it was piping hot from the fryer when it got to my table. But I’ve got this mental image of the perfect ball of falafel that I just can’t seem to shake. The Rice — good. The bread — I actually don’t know the traditional name for the bread, but it was nice and hot, probably straight out of the oven as well. Dat lamb tho — Man… I like Lamb. And whoever was working the grill was on their A-Game. Well seasoned and well cooked. I don’t know if you could order it medium rare, which is all the rage with the kids now, but my portion was a solid Med Well/WD. I didn’t try anything else, or the hookah, but now I know I have a spot to get my lamb need served

Solid lamb kabobs!!! Best I’ve ever had! Definitely get the number 4!!! Cooked to perfection, not smelly, and super delicious!!! Also had the number 1 chicken dish which was yummy. Kofta kabob was alright. Darband on Hilcroft wins on that one. Place is spacious, staff is friendly, and food/sides are delicious. No complaints here, wi be coming back for the lamb kabobs!!!
