Nasty. Even nastier than nasty. The food is subpar and flies. Lots and lots of flies. We won’t be venturing back inside this restaurant again. If you want Mexican just go to Case Olé or Pappasitos.

Went here on Saturday at about 7pm. Food was delicious. maybe it was because we were starving but we will be back. I loved the variety. My husband was surprised the had the aguas as a drink option on buffet. The only thing I didn’t like wAs the pricing. $ 94 for a family of 6. But we would go back again.

I wish we had something like this in the RDU area. If someone is aware of a similar buffet in town, please do share… On a recent visit to Houston, we had the opportunity to visit the Ranchero King Buffet for the 2nd time in roughly 4 years. I’m very pleased to report it remains great! Here’s a breakdown: PROS: 1) Tremendous variety of Southern Latin American Fusion. 2) Freshly prepared Pupusas right in front of your eyes. 3) Very well decorated buffets. It has an almost Carnival feel to it. 4) Great Ribs! 5) Great Variety of Drinks(other than standard fountain sodas). 6) Friendly Service 7) Good Value. 8) Clean Restrooms. 9) Plenty of Parking CONS: 1) It’s too far from the Raleigh Durham area. 2) The drink area can get a bit congested and messy. They have servers who will refill drinks, however they also have a self-service set up, and all it takes is one spill, and it’s in a high traffic area. 3) The Dining Room is huge, and can be daunting at times. I’d like to extend a special thanks to anyone who can share details on any place in the RDU area with an offering similar to the Ranchero King Buffet.

Awful. I mean, even for a buffet. Flies in the desert, & enchiladas without filling?!? Seriously, it was a corn tortilla rolled up, with sauce and cheese on top, and nothing inside. When your 5 year old even thinks it’s bad, then it’s really bad. Even the fajitas were bad. Chewy, and old. I couldn’t find a single acceptable food on the entire buffet. Any good reviews on here must be fake. There is NOWAY anyone could be satisfied with a meal here. The service was good, but I don’t go out to eat for someone to refill my tea, I go for good eats! In a word — GROSS.

Low quality food. Tasted so bad. right now as I type I have an upset stomach. Just bad in every way possible. I could have went to papasitos and had a great meal. This was just low grade trash food. You would be better off eating fast food than this and I hate fast food. I enjoyed the desserts and the nice jist that looked like J Lo lol haha

«Oh my God, I have died and gone to Heaven…» is what I aid to the total stranger sitting to my right, about half-way through my first-time experience here at Ranchero King Buffet. As I write this, I glanced at others’ reviews on the right side of screen, and I see one guy says«The food is freaking horrible». The Romans had a saying: De gustibus non disputandem est, which literally means: There is no disputing of tastes. Personally, I love buffets, and I take them for what they are — mass-produced, relatively cheap food. As far as Mexican buffets go, they are few and far between. I had eaten a couple times at Pancho’s, and that was indeed horrible. So, after googling a bit, I discovered Ranchero King and it looked good on the website. So, on a recent Sunday I and my best friend headed down there. Now, after living in Texas for most of my life, Tex-Mex food is just normal food to me. I eat out a lot, and 90% of the time it’s either taquerias or Chinese buffet. I found the food at Ranchero King’s to be just about the best Tex-Mex food I have ever eaten. The only item I tried that I was disappointed in was the pupusas. Too dry, and hardly anything at all inside them. I took two, but ate only one. Regarding everything else… more than just pleased. Now, being Tex-Mex food, it is rich and heavy. Foods I could eat by the ton when I was much younger(I am now 67) without any«gastric» problem, unfortunately now will leave me with some indigestion, which this buffet food did. But I expected it, and the taste experience was worth the later discomfort. We went on a Sunday, and the place was jammed packed! And yet, they are so well-organized, that the total wait to get seated was no more than 10 minutes. I would say that more than 95% of the clientele are Hispanic, so I did get to practice a little of my rudimentary Spanish, such as «Ah, señor, pardona me, donde estan las tortillas?» Not even sure if that’s correct, but was understood, ha ha! I HIGHLYRECOMMEND Ranchero King Buffet!!!

I love the food! Even though today I had to wait for ice be put in the machine and there was no sweet tea. They make hand made tortillas, which is great. All types of food, convince me of returning once again.

Stopped here Sunday on my way back to Dallas. Went in and asked to see the buffet and it looked good. Grabbed hubby and kids and went in. Paid $ 40 for 2 adults, 7 yr old, 4 yr old. All waters. Pretty pricey! Place was super crowded. Food needed labels b/c I would have eaten more, but just didn’t know what half of it was. Every kind of meat and tortilla imaginable. Husband loved the mole. Chicken was fall-off-the-bone tender. Bean and cheese quesadilla buttery and crunchy. Everything I tried was good except for the churros. Cold and hard. The best thing were these fluffy yeast rolls dripping in butter and honey. It was so hot, it felt like the a/c was broken. I give it 4 stars b/c I live in Dallas and I can never find authentic Mexican food. Everything is «Tex-Mex» and costs an arm and leg. Who wants to pay $ 13 for 2 enchiladas, one scoop of rice and one scoop of beans? I would stop here again if I’m in town.

This food is freaking horrible. Everything I ate I can cook better. Now I’m not being high and mighty but I’ve had my share of Mexican and this is BAD. $ 33 for two adults on a Saturday is ridiculous when I could’ve eaten at Papasitos, Gringos and any local joint off I45 for way cheaper and better. The place is huge and the buffet is a disguise. What appears to be a variety is really regular stuff. One last thing, how do you screw up churros?

The establishment is very nice. When you step into the build you feel like you are in the old west as there is cowboy memorabilia every where. They have a variety of soft drinks, mostly coke products, and even the famous Spanish flavored waters! That was really a plus and I’ve never seen these at a Spanish Buffet before. The food here was subpar. I have had better Spanish/Mexican/TexMex food from a taco truck than what they have here. Also they do not have any signage tell you what the dish is. The price of the Buffet and the drink at dinner time was $ 13.51. This buffet is worth $ 7.50 tops. If you can afford to travel just a little further, I’m sure you can find way better Spanish restaurants in the area. As always you do not have to take my word for it but this is what Unilocal was made for. Simply put the food is not mediocre.

I have to admit I might be a little fond of the place cause I did work on remodeling the place as an architect when this place was opening up… the food is nothing that special, but nothing worse than any other buffet I’ve been to. And its a lively atmosphere cause of all the other folks there most of whom I presume are here in part due to the great prices. I think some of the fresh taco stuff was decent… but really its buffet food, no worse but no better. And it is a buffet… so after eating here go up the street to Galleria Furniture and check out that absurd place if you haven’t been there already… you’ll need the exercise.

Wow! I can’t believe the other review. I was so annoyed by it that I HAD to post something. My partner and I discovered this restaurant just driving by and decided to give it a chance. Mexican buffets are usually pretty bad like Pancho’s, which I can only compare to El Patio frozen dinners. Ranchero King is honestly the BEST buffet I’ve ever been to. If you’ve ever had a great buffet like the kind they have at Casino’s, then you’ll love this one. Really authentic and they have amazing items on the buffet… carnitas, fajitas, Chile Rellenos, homemade flour tortillas, homemade refried beans, etc. Don’t listen to George and give this place a try. Support local business.

Big olé turd, that pretty much sums up this buffet. In a nutshell, the food was bland and the selection was sparse. Everything I tried here tasted like the dreck they serve inmates at the Harris County Jail. The food simply did not sit well in my stomach. I guess it was expecting something better than frozen food. I want my 8 dollars back goddammit!
