Payne’s Automotive

Before I discovered Payne’s Automotive, I went to another business to get my car inspected, but they tried to rip me off. This other business, Discount Inspection and Brakes on Holcombe, jacked my car up so they could find all the repair work they could find and said I needed to have those things done BEFORE they could inspect my car and pass it, citing so called «safety» issues. This other business was crowded, dirty, had a small, nasty waiting room with barely a place to sit. It was a noisy, unpleasant atmosphere! Then I found Payne’s Automotive and the difference was day and night! I have never been to an automotive repair place as clean, organized, professional and pleasant as Payne’s Automotive! Reminiscent of they professional way that automotive business might have looked in an earlier era – as soon as I drove up, I said to myself, «Oh my! This place is awesome!» And walking inside to their lobby, I continued to be impressed! The manager was there and one of the employees. It was close to closing time and the manager handled booking my appointment himself so that his employee could go home on time. When do you ever see that? Everyone was so nice and professional! I had never had to make an appointment for a state inspection before, but I didn’t mind returning the next day at my appointment time. I respect that they require people to make an appointment first because it allows them to give you personal attention and great service that you don’t normally find these days. They inspected my car as I had asked them to do and didn’t jack it up to try to find everything I «needed» to have repaired in order for them to say they would then be «able» to inspect it. Then they followed up with not one, but two letters thanking me for my business and offering to be of service if I should ever need any work done on my car. Well, I do, and i am going to bring my car back in and let them do the repair work that the other place said needed. Because of their honesty, I am more than willing to give them a chance. And if my experience is as great as I think it will be, I am going to write a follow up review! In a world where a customer often feels like all a business cares about is taking his or her money, it is nice for find one that seems to genuinely care about its customers and providing great service!

I love the folks at Payne’s! They have the BEST customer service, and they offer a great warranty on their work. We’ve only had to take advantage of their warranty once, and it was painless and quick. We have two vehicles that are 12+ years old and another that is 3 years old, and we get all of our servicing done at Payne’s. All three vehicles run like new. They are honest, as there have been a couple of times when what we (and they) thought was a major repair turned out to be something small. We never would have known the difference, but because of their honesty we were saved lots of money. They don’t try to guilt you into unnecessary or expensive services like most places tend to do. Their reception area is very inviting and is usually stocked with cookies and coffee/​hot chocolate, with water available also. The waiting area is cozy and even has books and toys for the kiddos. The bathroom is always super clean. They have an efficient service shuttle to make drop off/​pick up even easier for busy folks like me.

GREAT JOB! I went for an oil change today after a terrible experience with Kwik Kar & Lube (Tidwell near Hollister) and was greeted with a friendly face, clean/​professional/​comfortable atmosphere, very fair pricing, and more. They just earned a customer for life and I HIGHLY recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy/​fair place. I had my six year old son with me and he was content the whole time because of there stocked waiting room (books and toys) and I was able to relax on the couch with hot chocolate, cookies and a good magazine. Thank you Payne’s Automotive and great job!

Great customer service skills over the phone and very professional. The technician (s) who worked on my vehicle did a very good job. I do not know his face nor his name-​but his work is all I need to see to appreciate him.
Not too sure if prices are competitive, but I don’t mind paying honest professionals what they deserve to provide a great service.
I don’t work for cheap so I do not expect a quality auto shop to do so either.
Will come back again.

We moved to the area 2 years ago and started using Payne’s for both of our cars because of its convenient location but have continued using them for their outstanding customer service. The waiting room is very clean and kid friendly. Their complementary shuttle service has saved my husband from having to leave work to drop off or pick up my car and vice versa. We feel we are treated fairly here and they are always willing to take the time to explain the issues with our cars.

Went in today around 3:00pm to update my inspection sticker. Customer service rocks, everyone is super friendly. I had to bring my toddler and was plesantly surprised with the waiting room… stocked with little toys, books and a TV. In and out in about 20 min. Will be back.

The pages on my daily calendar kept flipping over, drawing nearer and nearer to my car’s inspection expiring. So finally, on the 31^st of the month, I remembered an automotive place I pass daily on my commute. Payne’s Automotive has a substantial, and confidence-​inspiring, brick façade, with several bays for car services. Clean lobby, well appointed waiting room, and a couple of personable managers greet the would-​be customer. After a brief exchange of information since I was new, the guy I was speaking with took my keys himself instead of just tossing them to the next gearhead or greasemonkey in from the shop. After a quick wait I was out of there with a brand new sticker for my window. With regular specials like 50% off «check engine» lights, quick, friendly service, and convenience to my office, I’ll gladly return to Payne’s.
