The store wouldn’t even let me in! I looked online, and it said that the store closed at 9 p.m., so I drove all the way to this location(because a different location didn’t even have my size in the shoe that I wanted). I ended up getting to the store at 8:40 and all the doors were locked! There were two employees in there(they both looked like teenagers) who even made eye contact with me, but wouldn’t come near us! I didn’t even get to go into the store, but if I did, I would imagine that I would have been treated poorly. Definitely recommend a different location.

I came in to browse because they had a big display of flats at the front of the store marked down to $ 14.99. That sounded like a pretty good deal for a pair of nice neutral shoes I could wear to work, so I headed back to the size 6 – 6.5 section. At first I was really optimistic because the place appeared to be stocked to the brim with shoes. I thought I’d have my pick of colors. However, at the dot of 10am on a Saturday, there were only two battered boxes of the sale item flats on the shelf, both in beige. The kicker was that there was only one shoe in each box, the other was the display shoe at the front of the store! I just turned around and left. I didn’t want to deal with the hassle of fetching shoes back and forth, and the idea of taking home a display shoe didn’t appeal to me. I wish there had been more options, especially since the sale on the flats was advertised all over the front store windows. On the plus side, the woman working the counter greeted me right when I came in, and said good bye when I left, so that was very pleasant.

This Payless is pretty great, especially if you wear larger sizes. Compared to other payless stores in the Houston area, they have a pretty good selection of styles in size 11. Which is great cause it’s usually so hard to find a variety of shoes in that size. Taiwo(I’m not sure if that’s how you spell her name) is great, she’s very nice and helpful and I’ve had great experiences when she helps me. My only complaint about the store is one of the store managers, Erika. She was rude to me when I returned a pair of boots, which I had worn only once but they pinched my toes. They had a scuff on the toe and she argued with me and tried to say I couldn’t return them because there wasn’t anything wrong with the shoes, I just didn’t like them and that wasn’t a good enough reason to return them. Although directly behind the counter there was a huge red poster which clearly said«If you’re not satisfied you can return them for ANY reason for a full refund of the purchase price with your receipt». When I brought this up though, she pulled out a tiny little placard with itty bitty print and mumbled something along the lines of «Yeah, but this says you can’t have already worn them». Luckily the district manager was there and she went to ask him if I could still return them, but her body language the whole time was incredibly rude. When she walked away to go ask the manager she slammed the box for the shoes down on the counter with an attitude and when she handled my receipt and my card she was very snatchy and impatient. The district manager did approve for me to be refunded, and I’m glad, but I hate that I had to receive that kind of treatment from the person who is supposed to be the store manager.
