Recent visit to drive-thru was not complete. I made the mistake of not checking each container to see if I received everything but the drive-thru line was so long and I didn’t want to make it worth for guest behind me waiting. You ask, what happen… I order three separate items off menu & my sliced beef sandwich was missing and one of my two large orders of Ribs were the smallest I ever seen. Ribs were not worth what I paid for. Took me several calls before reaching someone.

The restaurant is clean and the service is great! The brisket, unfortunately, is hit or miss. Sometimes it is near perfection, other times it is dry and salty. The baked potatoes are also hit or miss, once it tasted like it had been microwaved but I was assured it was not. The salads are yummy but again if you order the brisket, you don’t know if it will be dry or not. The chicken has been a constant winner. Pulled pork is decent. The melon water is delicious.

Rude drive thru lady. She didn’t give me the time to order and just kept hollering. So in the end, I had to drive up to the window to make my order… And they still got my order wrong! I didn’t drive from Beaumont TX for this.

Your serving line cashier is terribly rude. We came through the line around 1230p today 9⁄27. It was until I yelled back at that she stopped and helped. The line was long and she was yelling at us to move it along. I yelled back that we needed sides and what was her problem. Then she gets off her high horse and comes down to serve us herself. Get her off your front line she is too unprofessional. Your food is great. Always. But she needs trying. Also, can you clean up the bird poop? It stinks outside your front door and the hand rail is full of bird poop

Good grub all up and down the menu. Last time I was there the guys prepping the plates were fighting with a lady from the line… Embarrassing and unprofessional.

I dig the cheeseburger here. Two meat patties, it’s fresh, hot in the right spot, cold everywhere else. It’s a bit high on price but it tastes good. I really like the breakfast. I used to stop here most mornings before work. The sandwiches and burritos are very good. Drive through service is quick. Order has always been correct. Gave me jalapeño bread once — doesn’t’ taste as good as the regular bread. I’m from a small southern town with bbq stands everywhere… our food is usually seasoned well. Pappas chicken/bbq just tastes very plain to me. It’s been a good experience just needs some flavor for those items.

YES, I know… Pappas is a corporate business… however, I’ve had BBQ from several places in Houston and comming from a family who owns smokers and is very much into cooking, I know excellent quality BBQ. Pappas has a very well put together menu which offers all the bbq essentials. I’ve had the baked potatoe with chopped beef, sliced brisket sandwhich, chopped beef sandwhich, sausage, ribs and chicken. My favorite menu item is the baked potatoe with chopper beef. It does NOT disappoint. They give it to you cut open in foil, topped with grated cheese and chopped beef and have the open condiment bar where you can add your fixings(bacon bits, sour cream, chives, etc). My least favorite is the sausage. It doesn’t taste bad but the texture and«chew» is too tough for my personal liking. Also, for years I have told myself that on their chopped beef sandwhich, the buns MUST be changed. Their brisket is the best I’ve had but the buns do their sandwhich no justice. They get soggy and fall apart. PAPPAS please work on getting new buns that are thicker and maybe toast them a bit for an added touch because bread out the bag and then onto your plate isn’t the way to go. Also, the bbq sauce is extremely too watery.(Could that be part of your soggy bun problem? Possibly) Anyways, as a full dinning experience and quality of food, Pappas you are a 3.5– 4 star in my book. You are very well established, provide quick service and serve bbq that beats your competitors. With a few tweeks, you are easily a 4 – 5 star establishment.

My employer buys the firm breakfast the first of each month and lately we’ve gotten our breakfast from here. I usually like the breakfast tacos, but today it seemed there was sugar added to something and I think it was the beans. I would think that it would have been tasted before, being served to the public.

Had to start coming to this location after the one by my house burned down. Food tastes the same as every other Pappas and is giraffe p*** high like every other Pappas, but they satisfy my baked potato addiction and for that I am happy.

The food is cool. Honestly, depending on what you get, it can be really good. My issue is with the staff & I’m shocked that I haven’t written a review prior to this. Their attitudes are usually always bad. I went about 2 Sundays ago & ordered a sandwich, one that I had had before. I was given the sandwich on a different type of bread, one that I had not requested. So, I said, «This isn’t what the sandwich looked like when I ordered it before, what’s this bread?» She answered and asked, «You don’t want it?»…I don’t even feel like going into the specifics of the conversation but why did they attempt to give me something I didn’t ask for & then look and talk crazy when I asked them to correct it?!? They couldn’t even explain how they mixed up my order. This isn’t the first time. Too often, they’ve gotten snappy or attitude-y when I’ve asked them to correct something that they’ve messed up, through no fault of my own. Anyway, overall: food — good, staff — not so much.

Update to my review from a year ago. So the food is still great and I have to say wow have the portion sizes increased. They must have read my last review and I’m loving it! My recent order was a chopped beef po boy sandwich and a chopped beef loaded potatoe. Wow we’re they great. Good job pappas will be back again.

I love me some BBQ! I love Papas chain of restaurants. This location not so much! Never never go through the drive thru!!! There is a nest of birds that live in the trees right by the order box. Your car will get pooped on. Every time I go through the drive thru no matter what time of day I always have a problem. Such as not listing the kids menu items, being out of bread items or better yet not receiving BBQ sauce to go with the sliced beef poboy sandwich or salad dressing to go with a salad. Now the inside is another story. They are much better with customer service . I did finally call in and complain about my latest drive through order and the manger on duty asked«why didn’t I call that night?» We’ll because it was too late and you all were closed. He said that he would replace my meal. To me it just sounded like he was trying to shut me up with free food verses fixing the problem which is talking to your drive thru employees to insure all condiments are there with order before giving the customers their order. I would recommend a different location!!!

The food at Pappas is pretty good and I come here with my mom pretty often. We usually leave stuffed because the portions are huge. This time the service wasn’t too great. I walked up to the counter because I was going to be placing an order to go. The cashier didn’t bother to greet me and I was standing there for a few minutes until she says«I can help you.» Then I asked a different girl if I could have a small carry out box and she didn’t look at me or say anything to me. Rude. All in all, I would check it out of you’re in the area and wanting some good BBQ. They usually have some decent country music playing, the décor is cool, and the canteloupe drink is pretty good :)

I’ve had better and I’ve had worse. The décor is cute but the table and service are like a cafeteria, but the focus is on the food. I like the sauce, the meat was great the sides were a little disappointing.

I travel to Texas a lot and have had lots of Texas BBQ from Dallas to Austin to Houston and this was by far the worst ever. We have better BBQ in Connecticut. I ordered the sausage, ham and turkey platter. The good part, big portions, the bad part, the meat was not cooked very well. Tough and dry. The sausage was the best and that is not saying much. The sauce, what kind of BBQ joint gives you only one choice of sauce. On top of that it was not very good sauce. The only good thing, the beans… those were good. Would not return.

As a lifelong Midwesterner(Chicago), I was looking forward to finally tasting some authentic Texas barbeque on my most recent business trip to Houston. I was sorely disappointed. I got the 3-beef rib dinner. In the midwest, our barbeque falls off the bone. I couldn’t even cut the meat off these rib bones using the plastic fork and knife. I had no choice but to pick up the rib and rip off a piece with my teeth. And then it was chew, chew, chew in order to swallow it. After eating 1 bone, I gave up and gave the remaining 2 bones to my coworker to take home. The coleslaw was good. The sweet potatoes in the brown sugar sauce was excellent. I mopped up the extra sauce with the soft slice of white bread that came with my dinner. When I got back to the office, I laughed to myself because 3 other coworkers raved about how excellent the food is at Pappas Bar-b-que. That makes me think that maybe my low review is the result of comparing Pappas to the fantastic barbeque that I’m used to in Chicago.

I gave this place one star for three reasons… 1. They have nice marketing/displays, and a cooler with old fashioned bottled sodas. 2. The food didn’t deserve anything better than a 1. 3. There’s no option to put 0 or ½ a star. We went here after reading a 5 star Unilocal review, we later realized was for a different Pappas, still debatable whether or not they’re the same place. Anyway, this place was pure and utter crap. The food was nothing better than crappy cafeteria food, and yes, I need to describe it as «crappy cafeteria food» because I’ve definitely had cafeteria food that was better than this place. So, to start, they ran out of the baby back ribs… ok, fine, maybe those were actually good(I’d die of shock if they were). So, we opted for the rib plate(beef and pork) with a side of mac n cheese and the cucumber salad. We also got the pulled pork sandwich. We figured we’d share them both. As soon as they put the rib plate on our tray, I was confused at how coagulated and non-food like the ribs looked. Then they gave us the pulled-pork sandwich, with pretty good looking fries. Since I’m a complete fry-whore, my spirits were lifted based on their appearance. Boy was I disappointed. If there was any truth in my fry-whore comment, I’d never whore myself out for these soggy, heat lamp warmed fries. Sad. They had so much potential too. If they were fresh, they may have actually been the highlight of our dining. Anyway, where was I… fry-whore… sandwich, yes, there… the pulled pork sandwich. Ok, I can honestly say I’ve never ordered a pulled pork sandwich before, but, seeing as though I’m not completely retarded, I do have a vague concept of what one would look like. And in that imaginary sandwich image that was floating in my head, it did not have any bones in it, and it wasn’t a couple of dry short ribs hiding under a white bread roll. Nope, not the visual I had. And not quite sure how the translation got so jacked up when the cashier put the order in. After bringing it back to the counter and switching it for an actual pulled-pork sandwich, we were yet again disappointed when we received, essentially, dry, shredded pork. Yes, no sauce or anything. Just dry pork, between two dry buns. Shall I continue? Ok, let’s go back to the rib plate. The sauce, too sweet and just not very good. The meat was ok at best. The mac n cheese, typical cafeteria food mac n cheese. Cucumber salad was ok, too much dressing for my taste, but at least they actually put dressing on it and didn’t serve one whole cucumber and call that a salad. Come to think of it, I’m surprised they didn’t. As my bf put it, this place wasn’t worth the gas to get there. But, the sodas were good.
