This was a pretty good Asian Buffet. The best in the area, if you like that sort of thing. Unfortunately they are now closed. Rumor has it they may be reopening in League City. I hope so. Until then, the nearby East Star Buffet is probably the best remaining near Clear Lake.

When I lived in the Clear Lake area, this was a a regular stop for us when we were craving delicious Asian food! The food selection is wonderful and I always loved their spicy pepper shrimp! The décor inside is Asian and contemporary. I absolutely love the beautiful lighting and statues around this place. The price is right, pretty moderate for a huge buffet. Our tables were always clean and our waitresses were always right on-target, making sure we had re-fills, napkins and silverware. My ONLY complaint is that every-time my sister and I used to frequent this place, we were hit on and harassed by the men cooking in the back. One even went as far as to give me a business card with a phone number when I asked when the shrimp would be replaced. I was stared at like a piece of meat and felt VERY uncomfortable at having to go back up for a new plate. I don’t know if they still work here, but it was pretty awkward. Overall, I’d recommend. Just be careful for the horned-up cooks!

There are chinese buffets nearby where the food tastes a little better. But it tastes better because those places put generous quantities of MSG in the food; Oriental Gourmet doesn’t. The selection is a little different each time I go in. Today there were fewer pizza choices, but they’d put out orange beef, and a couple of different kinds of shrimp. Look, food that’s been sitting on a steam table is never quite as good as when it comes straight from the kitchen. That said, they do a pretty good job and they have a wide variety of Chnese, Asian and Other entrees. Plentiful vegetarian options. This is one of the best places in Clear Lake when you have a big party and no reservations.

Pretty good buffet. Decent choices, althought not AMAZING. The food quality is good, and everything seems fresh. I’d recommend it.

After a stellar recommendation from a coworker, I was pumped to try this buffet. It did NOTDISSAPOINT me! There were many options to choose from(fish, crab, chicken, make your own stir-fry, sushi, noodles…) and incorporated dishes from different countries(Japan, Vietnam, China…). The dish that stood out the most for me was the blue crab boiled in a spicy liquid. I never have good experiences with blue crab at buffets, but this was the GOODSTUFF. Medium sized, firm meat, great seasoning, I was in blue crab bliss. I am not certain if they are consistently that tasty, but I would be willing to try again. and again. and again. The waiter gave prompt refills and the price is cheaper than my average lunches. All in all, good buffet and I wish I had more than an hour lunch break to eat!

Hmm, did I come here on a bad night or something. I thought the selection was minuscule. Their General Tso’s chicken tasted horrible(my usual favorite) and even though it was $ 9/pp I felt gypped. On the other hand my husband liked it a lot more than I. He said he would come back and I said that it would have to be without me. LOL. I think he was wooed by the Stir Fry Bar, which I also thought looked pretty lame. I would choose East Star Chinese Buffet and Sushi Bar over this place easily. My husband would prefer this place. He is crazy and I am right. I look forward to future reviews for this place. I can’t be alone here.

«Asian» and«buffet» go together, in my opinion, something like«Russian» and«roulette» do. But somehow, Oriental Gourmet manages to do it — not just marginally, mind you, but very well. The variety of food IS astonishing: I always get the sense of spending more time making rounds at the steam tables than actually eating my food! Staff is really efficient at getting beverages to the tables, as well as refilling them, and management bends over backwards to accommodate groups for special events — with a bit of advance notice, of course. I can’t attest to conditions at dinner; at lunchtime, however, it’s mobbed. Parking is adequate(but not necessarily terribly convenient), and there is a huge bottleneck at the register — not a plus if you’re racing the clock to get back to the office. Now, Oriental Gourmet DOES have a conventional menu — and a couple of times I ordered takeout from it. The food was okay… but not, I thought, as good as the buffet! .

The OG rates a solid 3-star for its huge buffet. Bobbi B is not lying when she says«HUGE». I’ve actually eaten here many times with the parental units — everyone is happy with the variety of choices. They’ve even got some Viet food available but the downside to the buffet concept is that they are more«jack of all trades, master of none» when it comes to Viet food. Stick with the Chinese choices and your expectations will be met. I’d have to agree with JD N that this is possibly the best Chinese/Asian buffet in the Clear Lake area(aka the Bay Area wastelands). Finally, what’s with the use of «Oriental» in the name? That usage is SO1950s retro — and not in a good way. I just cringe when any old-timer uses that terminology to describe an Asian person, place, or thing. But, then I love correcting them. «Asian Gourmet» would have taken up less lettering, too.

I think this is the best Chinese/Asian buffet in Clear Lake area. They have offerings from China, Vietnam, Japan and a few things from other countries. The food is diverse and good. The prices are very reasonable for what is offered.
