This place doesn’t even deserve one star. I’m writing this review based solely on an experience I had trying to get in. We waited in line and when it was our turn to get in we were refused. They were«at capacity» and even when we politely asked if one of us(a female) could used the bathroom because it was an emergency the owner(who was definitely high on coke) started getting very rude and physically aggressive. He yelled and cursed at us asking us who would pay for the«over capacity fine» when the fire Marshall came. He continued yelling even though the cop standing right next to him said it would be ok for her to step in and use the restroom. Meanwhile during the altercation I watched about ten people who were obviously the right skin color get inside this crappy club. When a cop came to walk us calmly off the property he straight up told us that entire situation was«b*llshit». Overall very sad and disappointing experience.

Zero stars. The owner«Teddy» was clearly high on cocaine and tried to start a fight with my friends. He cursed us out and attempted to lunge at us in front of 5 police officers because we questioned why he was letting people into his club when he told us he was at capacity. I guess we were too black to be let in. If you’re into coke-head racist a$$holes named«Teddy»… This is your spot.

Asians not allowed even if you’re with caucasans and have reservations. I stood outside with my Caucasian fiancé and our Asian friends as his Caucasian friend celebrated his bday almost alone bc we weren’t allowedin. We weren’t able to help cover the $ 600 tab for the reservation we made and couldn’t enjoy it so bday boy and the 3 Caucasians that were able to get in had to pay for it. How ridiculous and discriminating is that? We left after standing around for an hour and had fun at anther bar nearby. Never again!(this happened a few years ago but I will never forget it)

This club was awful. My experience was from a Friday night. Parking is terrible. U pretty much have to pay to park in a lot since u can’t park on the streets around the place after 11. They played hip hop music but it was all stuff from like 7 year ago. I heard probably 7 new songs. The drinks are ridiculous. $ 12 for a long island and $ 10 for everything else. U have to be on hard drugs to enjoy this place. The only way I’d come back is if Jesus Christ was there.

Went here for the first time, paid extra to park my car out front and not be blocked in and I came out and my car was blocked in. I was told that the valet/parking company had nothing to do with the club. I had to wait until the person that was blocking me came out of the club over an hour later. I was tired and burned gas running my car because it was 35 degrees out. I will never come back.

Good size dance floor. Music is great. Always packed, even on Sundays!

Been here 3 times. The first time I had a LOT of fun. The second time I was there for a party and it was pretty fun since we had the area roped off etc and I was with people I knew. The 3rd time. it was pretty terrible. The 3rd time I went was on a Sunday. They tried charging all the girls and guys $ 10 cover… then told us we needed bottle service. then said they only have bottle service out on the patio(it was really hot). then they told me I can go inside to use the ATM to get cash. and before I knew it they tell us that guys pay $ 10 and girls get in free. Inside there were at least 3 fights. no exaggeration here. One of the fights was in one of the VIP areas with glass walls and it happened in the corner. It was really hard to break up the fight. and we could watch it happening through the glass. It was kind of interesting. Also I noticed there were some people dressed in really«unclasp» clothing. Weird shorts and tank tops etc… the other times I went there they enforced some basic dress codes(no gym shorts and tank tops were probably part of the code). This night they seemed to let anyone in. but then I remembered how much hassle we got at the door. Inconsistent. Also the parking lot valet 100% insisted that there is no cover. We paid him $ 10 for parking because he told us that.

After coming here about a dozen times I will say that this place is very hit or miss. Some days it’ll be very packed and some days just average. This place is very consistently inconsistent! What I mean by that is sometimes my friends and I will have trouble getting in and some nights we won’t. Sometimes they charge us cover other times they don’t. Facts about Nox: Gets crowded by 11pm Lots of Express wearing dudes Top 40 dance music. It’s dark. If you want to check this place out I suggest getting there no later than 10:30 if you wanna get in smoothly. Expect to pay $ 7 – 15 per drink.

Technically, that’s my second time going to Nox, but the first time staying for over 30mins. I went there for a bday party. 1)music is lame just like last time 2)people are more diverse now, so i didn’t see any racism thing going on. hey you know what i kinda thought i was at drink houston last night lol 3) if you don’t get a bottle, you basically have to stand there all night right next to people’s table 4)douches are everywhere btw, the bday party was pretty lame, so it made me kinda dislike nox more. Well, i really don’t recommend you folks go to this place. just go to ei8ht instead. a lot more fun !

On the outside, this place look s like a crappy little warehouse. On the inside, it looks like any other club. The door guys are complete jerks. I went there looking clean-cut with nice clothes, and they wouldn’t let me in.(I assume it’s because I did not have a girl with me) My friends had a table inside, yet they said they weren’t on the list. My friend came out, and asked if there was a problem. Then it was like their party magically appeared on the list. Once I got in, all I bought was one drink. $ 5 for a Miller Lite is ridiculous. The music was decent, but nothing spectacular. I walked past the VIP lounge and wanted nothing to do with it. I see a lot of reviews about people getting denied on here. I created a Unilocal account just I could say that they didn’t miss a thing. Even Drink Houston is a better club than Nox. NEVER coming back.

15 girls + 0 guys = DENIED. It was 10:30pm. Idiot Bouncer with too much gel in his hair: «Sorry girls, I don’t know what to tell you. You need a table but they’re all booked».(While groups of white people saunter right on in). You’re located in an area with run-down houses… Nox, you will never come CLOSE to being an elite club that you want to appear to be.

This place discriminates! I’m caucasian and I’ve got in this place in the past with my ‘white’ friends and last week it was my goodbye party so a lot of other friends which don’t hang out regularly came out, one black and two Hispanics and first time they didn’t want to let us in! While waiting, a group of 5 ‘white’ dudes got in before our group of 7 which was girls+boys. We were all very nicely dressed cause we were coming from a fancy dinner… I was really dissapointed.

My «Crap Bar Reliablilty Checklist», though simple, has yet to fail me. It took me all 5 years of my engineering degree to formulate this checklist and honestly, I should be considered for a Nobel prize in science. If the bar has both of the following it will inevitably suck. 1. Stupid name — check 2. On Washington corridor — check Nox, sux.

Nox is a no-no, if you aren’t white and female(which I am, but I’ll be damned if I’m going to go someplace where my friends can’t get in). Here’s a helpful anecdote: A month ago or so, myself and my roommate(two white girls) were meeting two(male) work friends at Nox to have some Friday night drinks after meeting a stressful deadline. We figured we’d had plenty of the typical Washington bars and would instead try out a club. Us girls got there first and were waiting inside for the guys when we got a text from one guy, let’s call him S., saying that he couldn’t get in because the bouncer said there was a «manager’s list» in effect for the night, so he was waiting in line. Important note: S. is half black. Five minutes later, our other, very much white friend R. walks up, doesn’t see S. waiting in line, and gets in with no comment whatsoever from the bouncer. Before you say, «Clearly, S. wasn’t dressed well enough» he was. He was actually dressed better than R. Secondly, this all happened between 9:30 and 10:30, which is pretty early in the night for a Washington hotspot.(I mean, at that time, Ei8ht only has a 100 person line, am I right?!) We were so disgusted when we found out what happened we left immediately. Considering how overpriced everything is here, that was quite a loss for Nox! So what motivated me to write this review? This past weekend I reluctanctly went there for a friend’s birthday because she was dead set on the place — I figured, hey, why not see if Nox has learned their lesson? There were exactly TWO black people in the entire packed club. Ugh. Nox makes me sick. There are so many other, better clubs to go to — don’t waste your time and money!

I am downgrading this place a star. I think I finally experienced the infamous Asian racism! I was here with a rather large group, me being the only Asian(isn’t that always the way with me? I swear they keep me around to seem more ~diverse~ Just kidding!). Anyway, I was able to gain quick precursory entry past the ropes because I was with a lovely Caucasian girl. But we were about to immediately enter through the doors, one of the doormen was all rather menacing-like, «Is this girl with you?» to the Caucasian girl. Um yes, yes I was. .. and what if I hadn’t been? Would I have been rejected back to the end of the line? Maybe I’m being hyper sensitive, but that just seemed a little suspect. Anyway, once inside this place was definitely lacking in Asians and blacks. I mean, whatever. .. I just think it’s lame to be discriminatory, even if this is allegedly the«place to be.» Also Saturdays = murder on the soul. I much preferred the Friday I was here — made me feel slightly less crazy on the inside. P. S. If you are on iPhone, I am allegedly Duchess of this place. I hope to lose this designation ASAP. K thanx.

Maybe I’m getting too old and have already seen this whole night club«you have to be cool enough to get in» business move from Richmond to Downtown to Midtown, and now to Washington, but I just wish places like this would go away. I had the misfortune of trying to come to this place once to meet up with friends(who should know better), and after I found parking a block away, I was met with the dreaded velvet rope. Really there were two lines which were equally not moving. The D-bag door guy told us to move from one line to the other and still nothing seemed to happen. Of course mean while the little 21 year old club groupies would walk by everybody and hug the door guy and he’d let them in where the people who would actually spend money in the joint were left outside. After an hour of that game, I texted my friends and told them screw this place and went to a classy place where they actually wanted to make money. I did end up going to this place for a VIP party a few weeks later and I seriously didn’t know what the big deal was… just another club. Washington is already dead.

My group of 4 girls and 4 guys showed up at 11:15. We looked good. Not to be vain or anything but all the boys were wearing their dress shoes, dark wash jeans, and striped button ups. The girls were made up with hair done AND pumps on. We were turned away because«a group our size» requires reservations. I have never heard that in my life. Are they telling us a big warehouse that size can’t accommodate 8 people in a group? Poor business decision, imo. We were ready to drink. **UPDATE December 2nd: I got inside information that Nox lets people in based on if they«look like they have money». That’s based off of what you drive, what you wear. Plus, it helps to be like Beyonce — a single lady. They better check that selection criteria.

Whoa. Now THIS is a nightclub. I dropped in here late last night – a little after midnight – and was a bit thrown off by the cluster of folks trying to get in. Surprisingly, it moved fast … that and I worked my way through some people(bad Farrah). This nightclub reminded be of Tenjune in NYC, but a hell of a lot more space, better lighting, and more bars. Circling through the crowd in hopes of finding my guy, this is what I found: –Huge, huge, huge dance floor. –Bars all along the perimeters of the dance floor –A brightly lit lounge area in an upper level for those who want to hold a friendly conversation. –People dressed to the nines. Spending much of my time in dive bars, I forget how sexy Houston can be. Great-looking and mixed crowd. –Bed-like lounge areas with bottle service –Super cool bartenders. My friend Alfonso just moved from Whiskey Creek to here. And I’m not just saying he’s cool because«he’s cool with me»; he’s friendly with *everyone* – including you group of guys. That’s why he has such a great following of loyal patrons where ever he goes. And my fave barback Caesar is there, too. Looks like Farrah found a new home. The only downer for me was the line(which can be expected in hot new club) and the parking sitch. I had a not-so-cool experience walking back to my car where a valet attendant made suggestive comments to me. I walked directly up to guy leading the pack and demanded 1) that guy’s name 2) the company name 3) my money back. I just got my money back. Nox, please check that!

This review is based on my first visit here. Keep in mind the exact location, as it is somewhat hidden and the entrance faces a neighborhood? Had a bit of trouble finding it, and paid $ 10 to self-valet because parking was hectic along the surrounding areas. I recommend getting here early as in around 10 pm or so. The door guy didn’t give us a hard time since our group consisted of mostly girls, but I did notice a group of guys being turned away after us. Upon walking in I was impressed with the overall look of the place, very upscale and classy. The part that most stands out is their main VIP area. It is enclosed behind a room of clear glass windows/doors. The furniture/décor is mostly white and is well lit as if beckoning the outsiders with envy for not being a part of it. I would categorize their VIP areas into 1st class(inside the glass room with their own private bar and elevated above the rest of the club) 2nd class(just outside the glass room, no private bar, bottle service, but above the dance floor where you can still look down on the… a-hum… little people) and 3rd class(booths set up down in the dance floor with the little people.) The main bar located by the dance floor was very attentive and quick to serve drinks. They also have a cash bar located by the restrooms and on your way out to their small patio which seemed built just for a couple smokers, very small. I’m not a smoker and went out just to keep my friend company. It was so small that I quickly felt my poor little lungs gasping to get out of there from all the second hand smoke that was choking them, seriously. Music…umm…it sucked. Not sure if it was the DJ on this particular night but I honestly could have tuned into 104.9FM and listened to the same stuff while drinking my Redbull/vodka. I could also maybe have switched the lights on and off in my room for extra special effects, just sayin. The crowd? Well, the guy ratio seemed a bit higher than the girls. Don’t get too excited now girls, most were creepos and not much eye candy unless you were in 1st class VIP area. If you figure out how to get in there let me know :) The club is very appealing look wise, they need a new DJ however, pronto!
