Only tried the red beans and rice, but they were really good.

DAMN!!! Food trucks lately, have been lackluster. A lot of the same old korean/asian fusion garbage. But when I saw a cajun one, I was intrigued! We ordered the Blackened catfish over cheese and garlic grits and added in a side of gumbo and rice. This meal was amazing. The blackened catfish was top notch. Very flavorful, totally something you could find out of a high dollar restaurant. But the grits were the best I ever had! Period. The gumbo was OK, I think that was more because the grits had stepped up the standards so high. It was just so cheesy, didn’t even taste like eating grits anymore, because normally I am not a grits fan. The best part? The price, it wasn’t ridiculously over-priced and the serving size was big enough to share.

Only had the pleasure once. They can be hard to find. Tried the grilled catfish and grits and the crab cake sandwich. both were excellent. grits were cooked just right. catfish had a great taste with a very good tasty sauce. crab cake sandwich was very flavorful with good texture on the crab cake. would definitely recommend giving them a try.

Lately, I have tried to cut down on my fried food consumption, but on a recent visit to WInter Street Studios, I caught a wiff of some delicious smells coming from Creole @ Geaux. I couldn’t resist. I opted for the shrimp po boy, and was a very happy camper. My only ify comment is that they put a bit too much tabasco, as I think it should be optional. The shrimp were a nice size, crispy, not soggy, and the bread(which I think is an important factor of any po boy) was PERFECTION! Worth a try for ANYone wanting to get their New Orleans fix!

My Order: — Shrimp Po-boy — Curly Fries Even though I’ve been sort of disappointed with my food truck adventures(i.e Bernie’s Burger Bus), I still love their convenience and concepts. Inversion Montrose Coffee House is very close to me, so I love when a food truck visits. I had been trying to visit NOLA’s for a long time, but always miss them. Fortunately, I made it today :) The chef and her assistant were nice, informative ladies. I was very confused on what to order, as everything on this menu is right up my alley. Since I had errands to run, I decided on something quick and easy… the shrimp po-boy and fries. Now, do not eat this if you have hypertension! Lol. Its fully seasoned, Cajun style. The shrimp were of a very nice size, the french bread was fresh and so were veggies on it. Loved it. I will visit again and try new things, can’t wait to try the red beans and rice! So far, NOLAs wins the food truck competition!

I couldn’t expect much vegetarian options out of a creole food truck. I ordered the cheese grits, cajun corn, and the okra and tomatoes. The portions were large and tasty but I should have asked if the the vegetables had meat in them before ordering. The okra and tomatoes had bits of sausages in them and I wasn’t sure about the corn either since they tasted so saltily good. I gave the okra and tomatoes to my friend, Arie, but he couldn’t handle the spice level. Wuss.

The husband and I have eaten here a few time now. I’m always cautious trying new creole and cajun places. I’ve been to quite a few who think all people in Louisiana eat is spice :/ at least at Creole 2 Geaux this is not the case! ^^ So far all the dishes we’ve had are very good and flavorful. The first time I went I had the Chicken Gumbo. So tasty! And the test… it was even better left over ^_~ The next time i had the Red beans, sausage and rice. Soooo ya gotta wait a while to eat it. as I’ve had it several time and it is super fresh out of the pot hot. But once its at an edible temp its delicious: D And again the leftover test results in even tastier food! Another time i got the shrimp and grits. My husband isn’t fond of grits but even he ate it and liked it! No leftovers to speak of for this. But thats ok! I can’t wait to go back again and try the rest of their dishes!(and have more of the ones i’ve had ^~)

Cajun foods are my favorite, but the items on this truck are not very creole. Not sure how to rate the Gumbo here, it’s a gritty watery roux mixed with rubbery sausage and under cooked shrimp. This is the stuff beginners learn to cook from a book, or a crock pot recipe to save time. Maybe this was an off day, but with so many decent Cajun foods in town, they gotta do better.

Got to try them today, really wanted to try everything but was mainly considering either the etoufee or poboy. Bri suggested i get the poboy and she’ll give me the etoufee as my side item. I got the blackened chicken poboy and it was delicious. The etoufee was really good too. Next time i’ll try the gumbo!

Of all the food trucks, this is the most elusive I’ve experienced. The first time I attempted to go to Lizzard’s Pub and parked the car(hadn’t even managed to get out of the car), the food truck left. I actually watched the food truck pull out of the driveway! The second time I attempted to visit, the weather was bad, but I was determined! I had even tweeted back and forth a couple of times with the business to ensure they’d be there, but by the time I reached them, they were gone. It should be noted either time, this food truck didn’t tweet(@NOLAs2Geaux) they were leaving, so beware! As a result, I was frustrated. I had now driven twice from Sugar Land to the upper Kirby area just for this truck! As a consolation, they said the next time I visited, my meal was on them!!! I was stunned! So, I went after my second trip to Crescent City Beignets(literally down the street) to get beignets, since beignets aren’t on the food truck’s menu. I thought, «A perfect meal — crab and crawfish étouffée with beignets!» I had just eaten crawfish étouffée at Crescent City the night before, and frankly, I intentionally chose the food truck’s étouffée for comparison(that, and it’s one of my favorite dishes). I have to admit, the food truck’s étouffée was REALLY salty, to the point where it was difficult for me to eat. I managed to give half to a friend, and I forced myself to finish the other half, especially since it was free. Had there not been so much salt, I think I would’ve enjoyed the food more. For what it’s worth, my friend agreed it was salty, but delicious. Perhaps I should note I cook with very little salt, and that could have been the issue. I will say this. The crawfish étouffée is $ 8. It is DEFINITELY your money’s worth. Even if I had been hungry, I don’t think I could’ve eaten all of the étouffée by myself. Between the huge portion size and going the extra mile for giving me a consolation prize, I give this food truck three stars. Less salt or perhaps trying another menu item will result in four stars, so cross my fingers!

Houston has good Cajun food, Seriously! I have tried all of «Cajun» places in town, and never have they lived up to my expectation. I grew up on this stuff, you can’t fool me! So first, I have to say Nola’s has a very big menu. All of the standard fair — Po Boys(which include a large side, two hush puppies and a small coleslaw), Baskets that come with one large side and hush puppies and gumbo’s which also include a large side. To give a proper review, I must say — the portions are huge! This is coming from a guy with a large appetite and an official member of the«clean plate club.» Prices range from around $ 7 for a gumbo to $ 9 – 10 for a Po Boy or Basket. I assure you, you will get your money’s worth. I’ll start with my Catfish Po Boy. Two large fried catfish filets topped with a sweet and spicy creole mustard(different, but delicious.) The lettuce was a very fresh romaine that gave the sandwich a great crunch. The tomatoes were very fresh and full of color(always a good sign.) If you are used to a crunchy soft baguette, this may not be your favorite. The baguette is soft, but I felt that it worked well. The batter of the catfish was delicious and not too dense. The flavor on a whole was good — a solid Po Boy for sure. The hush puppies had a great crispy outside and soft sweet inside. Not what I am typically used to, but still good. The coleslaw is a classic and mayo based. It has some sweetness, but not so much to be the only recognizable note. Onion and spice is also present and it all blended together to make an excellent coleslaw. My large side was Marque Choux — a Cajun corn stew. If you have never tried it and like corn, I recommend this side. I was lucky enough to try some of my girlfriend’s crab étouffée — this took first place! You get a huge serving — which is good, because I love leftovers. Finally, Chef Brianne was extremely friendly and helpful. I was very impressed all around!

FINALLY! We always talk about how Htown is devoid of good Cajun food and yup… It would take a food truck to bring it right! This truck has been out about two weeks and one of the people, Brianne, who runs it used to work at Emeril’s. And BAM! It shows. The food is authentic, delicious, home/truck made and worth every penny as servings are huge! The catfish poboy came with 3 sides!!! One that you choose and two hushpuppies and coleslaw. Coleslaw wasn’t over creamy. Hushpuppy was a hint of sweet which I wasn’t expecting but enjoyed. The side of corn was seasoned to perfection. The tops. Crab ettouffe(sp?) came in a huge container and was equally superb. I can say that this place will save you a trip out east. Just do it.
