Great family business. I love the chicken enchiladas and the pancakes! Great combo, right? Nice people. Good service. Casual morning hangover spot where I put on a smile in the presence of family.

Greasiest Mexican food I have ever had in my life. Delivery was fast but the food was too greasy to choke down. Worst Mexican food we’ve ever eaten.

How I missed dining at this long standing place… Lunch today — fairly crowded. Parking lot next door. Clean; fast and friendly service; and cooking area is open and right in the center of the restaurant. Large menu — not sure if I would call it Tex-Mex, maybe a bit more«Mex». Free chips and very good salsas(one was pretty hot). Had their famous pork tacos — very good, with the usual refried beans(with a radish on top!), rice, lettuce, tomatoes, and marinated onions(!). Large portion. They have 4 or 5 daily specials — each about $ 2 less than the regular price. A winner — on par with Ninfas and others.

First visit here was for breakfast after a workout down the street. I was being«good» and ordered eggs, a few of the other ladies ordered pancakes. I was so jealous when our food arrived! Don’t get me wring, the eggs were delicious but those pancakes looked amazing. Two Saturdays later, after that same workout session, I stopped in to try those awesome looking pancakes. OMG, they were so fluffy and delicious that Merida is now my favorite pancake place. The bacon is good too. Fast forward to this weekend… my 8 yr old niece is staying with me and I knew just where to take her for breakfast. We orderd migas and pancakes to share. That was in Friday. Saturday and Sunday she has been pleading with me to come back for more. We are back, Sunday for brunch and ordering another round of migas and pancakes to share! Note the service is not 5 stars, a bit slow and you can’t be shy to grab someone when you need something. However they are very friendly and I have never had an order be wrong.

Unilocal said that restaurant delivers, but after painstaking placing the delivery order, I got a call from Eat24 saying that the restaurant«did not have enough drivers tonight» to make the delivery. Very disappointing. On a Saturday night for crying out loud. Eat24 called and advised me of this within 5 minutes of placing the order, so that part of it worked well.

This place looks like it can be good. The menu has all the right combos but maybe not the best delivery. I was excited to see that they had the cochinita pibil so of course we ordered the plate and the tacos. I will say that the flour taco tasted the best, however they were drenched in grease. Usually cochinita pibil is served in a some broth but this was just really greasy. I cant say I particularly loved or hated the plate. It was just ok for me. I still cant decided if I liked the chips and salsa, I mean I did eat them all but that’s true of any chips that are placed in front of my face. The salsas were a bit too watery for me but still held a certain kind of flavor that would be enjoyed by some. Overall, this place is good but there are so many other better places on this block alone that would be a better choice.

Regular Tex-Mex done right! The service is always excellent, the food is as authentic as you’d expect Tex-Mex to be, and the atmosphere is great! This neighborhood is definitely coming up, and you don’t have to be scared to go there at night anymore. The prices are great, especially considering the prices of nearby Ninfa’s and El Tiempo(which are related). The restaurant also is super helpful in the community, even supporting local educational programs. I’d be surprised to see another local restaurant do that! This is a place I love to visit, and unless something major changes, I’ll keep coming back!

Went to this place after work. We should have walked out when we saw the place was completely empty but my friends and I decided to stay… you know keep an open mind. The place had an odor to it first of all. The restrooms had water all over the floor and one of my friends actually almost fell. The chips were super stale. Needless to say we did not order any food and simply walked out even though we were starving.

S and I came for a late Saturday brunch and had a wonderful meal. She only made it half way through her jumbo breakfast taco. I couldn’t resist finishing my chilaquiles. Good chips and two salsas. Great tortillas. Coffee was good enough. Female staff was friendly and cheerful. Not fine dining, but old-fashioned, heart-warming, belly-filling and inexpensive. Will definitely be back.

I’ve been here numerous times, and I simply love the food here. I’d say its in my top 3 mex restaurants in Houston. Service has always been great, and the food even better. I definitely prefer Merida to its competitors across the street. .Try the alambres.

This place is well positioned to catch people on their way to Ninfa’s or El Tiempo. I was headed to Ninfa’s one night, saw this spot and decided, «what the heck, I’ll try it.» I went in, had some pretty darn good Tex-Mex and decided I would be back. Good place to catch a bite.

This place is horrid. After calling and making a reservation for 16 ppl they obviously were not rdy. One server for our group and two other tables. We had to get our own knives and forks too! Then after a hour plus of waiting the food arrived, cold and substandard. Obviously a manager issue.

Things you must eat here Queso Flameado with chorizo, flour tortillas(homemade) and pico de gallo. You will crave it the next day. Better order one to go. House margaritas on the rocks. They add just a touch of pineapple(maybe) juice and they are delish. Honestly I’ve never had a bad meal here. Gorditas and fidello are good too. Everyone is very friendly!

I order takeout from here probably once a week. They have beans and rice that are TODIEFOR and their breaKfast menu(served all day) keeps me coming back. I could eat Merida leftovers for days! …and I do! Yum!

Talk about hidden gem! this place has that hometown mexican resturant that the other big boys in the area seem to miss. The food was pretty good, but the service and the amibance is what did it for me, plus they have a great deal if you bring in your dynamo tickets. So stop by and check this out

I discovered this place from Eat24. They deliver to my house. I’m pretty lazy and pretty hungry so I’m always down for delivery. Unfortunately, the food was not good. Beef enchiladas came with rice and beans. I could barely eat any of it. Rice was dry, beans were like clay, beef enchiladas were super orange greasy and nothing had flavor. Chicken fajitas were edible but not good. Delivery driver was nice though. I wanted to like them but the food was just not good.

Worst Mexican food I’ve ever had. I ordered online; from Unilocal took almost 2 hrs to be delivered. I had a Chimichanga $ 9.95, says fajita but was actually ground meat, & they forgot to put my Pico De Gallo, sour cream & guacamole SO basically ground meat wrapped in a tortilla. My husband had the«Nachos Imperial» $ 7.95 and was just chips with cheese they forgot all the toppings(also said fajita but was ground meat as well). This is NOT good TEX-MEX and by all means NOT authentic. I will never order from here again and do not recommend.

Food is among the best mexican in Houston always good on any given day. Too bad they get over looked by being across the road from original ninfas, and el tiempo. Salsa is always fresh. Huevos Rancheros are are always done right, bacon could be crispier and coffee needs improvement. My favorite dish is cochinita pibil. My son loves their cheese enchiladas. Homemade tortillas among the best I’ve ever had period.

Decided to bring the girlfriend here for happy hour margaritas. They were actually really good! We came on a Tuesday evening, and we were 1 of 2 parties there, so the service was great. The food is your typical tex-mex/mexican but tastes great.

I’m here to give Merida a good review. My partner and I eat here every weekend for breakfast. No, it’s not my mother’s Mexican breakfast, but it’s very near close. The flour tortillas are the absolute best, handmade and ALWAYS made to order. We do frequent there for dinner and I do admit, they have very, very heavy dinner offerings, however, it’s nothing short of what’s expected from Tex-Mex. I read through the complaints here and found most were about non-traditional dishes, pricing(really? maybe you shouldn’t eat out at all if you complain about pricing here), and service(really? If you want 5-star service, march your but across the street to El Tiempo or Ninfa’s, though you don’t nearly receive service equal to those price points). The owners are probably trying to explore other dishes that are probably great tasting across the street. Anyone with good common sense and experience eating @ a hole in the wall place like this should know not to try it. Stick to your Tex-Mex basics and you’ll be happy here. If you want great tasting bar drinks go across the street. Yes, Merida has a full bar but they do not employ a bartender.
